Trump Has Nothing But the People Who Voted For Him
RUSH: The media didn't make Trump. The media didn't take some unknown piece of clay here and mold him into a national public figure that they could then later dismantle and destroy. I can give you names of people they have done that to and they can whittle them away any time they want. But they didn't do that with Trump. Trump made himself. So the only person that can really destroy the relationship he has with his supporters is Trump himself.
Understanding Trump’s Comment to Madame Macron
RUSH: Anybody who understands anything knows what Trump was doing. The fact that there is so much hand-wringing and vapors and gnashing of teeth over this is a terrific illustration of what is happening to our culture and how it is veering off track and is resulting in vast limitations of free speech.
Carl Bernstein’s 30-Year War
RUSH: Bernstein basically admits that the Drive-Bys are at war. We're in a civil war. It's a civil war in the media. And they are at war with Trump and his supporters.
ABC News/Washington Post Poll Does It Again, Oversamples Democrats
RUSH: Did you see this ABC/Washington Post poll that has Trump's approval number plummeting? Do you know what the plus Democrat number is? It's 12%! There was plus-12% additional Democrats sampled in this poll. Well, hell's bells!
My Golf Weekend Focus Group: Nobody Blames Trump, Everybody’s Angry at the Republicans
RUSH: I have to tell you, I mean, this happens all the time, folks. People come and ask me what I think of X, usually a political issue of the day. And I always listen, I always try to pay attention to the first two, three things people ask me about.
Rush 24/7 Stack of Stuff
RUSH: No longer is this just gonna be a long list of stories that I might mention on the program. Now, you will get specifically the stories that I talk about on the program and a select list of a few others that I intended to get to but ran out of time. It's going to be more of a real-time base feature rather than just a generic list of places that I go to prep the show.
Guest Host Ken Matthews
Ken Matthews — the afternoon drive time host on WHP 580 Harrisburg and 1210 WPHT Philadelphia — filled in for Rush on Open Line Friday. Check out Ken's Stack of Stuff for links and audio clips. El Rushbo returns on Monday.
Senator Grassley Grills McCabe in Rarity for a Republican
RUSH: You don't see Republicans in the Senate fighting back like this. Three cheers for Grassley, of all people. He fired both barrels at McCabe today, essentially saying he had no business being acting director, that he's conflicted all over the ballpark here by his attitude toward Flynn and his wife seeking political office.
ABC Builds a New Set to Cover George Stephanopoulos’ Tiny, Short, Dangling Little Boy Legs
RUSH: On the set of Good Morning America, the four hosts there — Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Robin Roberts and Strahan, they're sitting there at a table with no front on it, and three of the four are normal size or very tall. And when they're sitting in the chairs their feet hit the floor. Little Stephanopoulos is like 5-4, his feet do not. His feet do not hit the floor.
The Big Nothingsky Won’t Distract Me From Health Care, Other Issues
RUSH: I made mention of this yesterday during the two or three minutes I wasn't talking about Trumpgate about how the fastest way Trump could move past all of this is just to get this stuff done. Actually repeal and replace Obamacare, move forward with the tax cuts, build the wall or something that's equivalent, just do this stuff in addition to everything else he's doing on his own, and none of the rest of this stuff is gonna matter.
Ed Gillespie’s Campaign in Virginia Demonstrates the Challenge Faced by GOP Establishment Swampsters
RUSH: They're telling Gillespie, "You better go out and hire people that know how to get votes in the Republican era," meaning, "You better find some Trump people to hire." I love this. I don't know why but I just absolutely love this.
Lost in the Weeds on the Don Jr. Story? Here Are the Facts
RUSH: I tell you what, I didn’t ever do one, but if I had had to do a doctoral thesis to get my Ph.D., that’s what show prep today would have, or did, probably feel like. I mean, so much of this stuff is in the weeds now that it is difficult to siphon through it. but that’s why I’m here, my friends, to make the complex understandable. And we will endeavor to engage in that quest today.
The President Comes Out Swinging for Donald Jr. and American Values in France
RUSH: I've found that every time Trump has a good moment — be it advancing his agenda or a great speech — it isn't long before in the media something pops up that is of a controversial nature that is designed to cover and overwhelm the good story.
Rush Baby High Schooler Faces Left-Wing Teacher
RUSH: I think this is what passes for public education today in a lot of classrooms. On purpose. The purpose is to propagandize you or to indoctrinate you, not to teach you, and there certainly probably wasn't any critical thought taught. Sounds like you held up well, though. I appreciate the call.
Professor Hazlett’s Book Has a Great Illustration: Under Net Neutrality, the iPhone Would Have Been Impossible
RUSH: I mentioned yesterday my friend Professor Hazlett's book called The Political Spectrum. It's written to explain modern-day tech versus Washington regulation.
Rush 24/7 Morning Update: Mass Extinction
RUSH: Well, a new study is out about another man-made crisis. This time the threat is mass extinction.
Donald Jr.’s Russian Honey Pot Meeting Was Completely within the Law
RUSH: You can find quid pro quos with Mrs. Clinton and that foundation selling influence to the White House before she even got there. But you don't have any quid pro quos with Donald Trump, and you don't have any with Donald Trump Jr. What would have made something like this a crime under current law would have required money in some way, shape, manner, form. There wasn't any here.
How Is Trump the Human Being Dealing with These Personal Attacks and Phony Roadblocks Stopping His Agenda?
RUSH: This phony baloney, plastic banana, good-time, rock 'n' roll Russian collusion story is the primary roadblock. It's giving everybody who hates Trump or doesn't want him to succeed an excuse to stand pat and do nothing to advance his agenda. Even fellow Republicans.
I Think the Natalia Veselnitskaya Thing Is a Setup
RUSH: I think the whole thing was a misdirection play. But this picture makes it look like she is part of the opposition to Trump.
