RUSH: We start in Olathe, Kansas. Russ, great to have you, sir. How you doing?

CALLER: Oh, great. Nice to talk to you, Rush.

RUSH: Same here. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Yep. Super mega dittos. Hey, I just want to confirm something. I heard your opening statements about how a lot of Trump supporters had turned off the news, and I’m here to confirm that. My wife and I have listened to you since ’91, and she reads your transcripts in the afternoon because she’s busy during the day working, and the only time we turn the news on is to watch the weather.

RUSH: Hell, they lie about that, too!

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Well, they’re only right 50% of the time anyway. But it’s funny because even Fox News — and we were avid Fox News watchers. You know, we watched the Five and everything else. But it’s even gotten to where they’re following the networks. I don’t know where, you know, conservatives are gonna turn. I mean, other than you. And, you know, there’s nothing else that’s gonna even compare to you, so I don’t know what to watch or anything else. You can’t read the newspaper.

RUSH: My back is what you watch. Keep an eye on it. (laughing)

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: Yeah, that’s about the only thing. Other than listening to you, that’s where I get most of my news. And it’s funny, because you’ll say something and the next day. You know, it’ll be on the new, so that just shows how connected you are.

RUSH: I appreciate that. While I’m talking to you, I’m looking for something here. I hope I printed up. Some Harvard outfit did a study of the bias of the networks in Trump’s first hundred days, and it’s exactly what you think it is. It’s like CNN: 97% anti-Trump, 3% pro. NBC: 91% anti-Trump, 8% pro. CBS… All of them, all. CNN was the worst at like 97, 98%. The only network that even approached balance was Fox, and even they had, like, 52 anti-Trump, 48 pro-Trump.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: But there’s nothing else that is even approaching balance. Only Fox. And I know they’re “fair and balanced.” Even they were still slightly shaded in the anti-Trump tone of coverage. I know. I’ve talked to people like you — and, by the way, I appreciate what you said. They’re not watching it anymore. Not paying any attention to it. They know exactly what the purpose of the media is today. They’re not watching; they’re not listening to it. And let me ask you this, before you go, Russ. Are you still as enthusiastic for Trump as you’ve been?

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Well, the thing about it is, you have to understand now we’re looking at it as it’s not Trump against, you know, the Democrats. It’s the people and Trump against the swamp.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: You know, and to be honest with you, I tell my wife, “It’s gonna be… It’s like a French Revolution all over again.”

RUSH: In a way. Here’s what’s going on: The Trump voter is totally misunderstood by the swamp. I like that term. Swamp, establishment. You people are thought of as unsophisticated, very low-educated bigots. You’re not very bright. You certainly aren’t sophisticated enough to certain nuance. And they think, therefore, that using their standard techniques, they can wean you off your love and support for Trump. They think that they can embarrass you.

They think that they can hit Trump hard enough, steady enough, long enough that even you will tire of defending Trump, and even you will get tired of hanging in and that you’ll get embarrassed and fade away. They haven’t the slightest idea who you are, and they don’t care to know. They haven’t the slightest idea even now why you voted for Trump. And they are pulling their hair out. I know this! We’ve actually… What did I see? Oh, mind, don’t fail me now.

This has been a week with lots of distractions. There was something I read earlier in the week. It was a transcript of two Drive-By people actually talking about how their objective now is to separate Trump voters from their support for Trump. The media guys — two guys in the media — were acknowledging that’s what their objective is now, is to separate you from Trump. They think they’ve done it with everybody else. They think they’ve got conservatives, liberals, moderates, safely distanced from Trump, embarrassed of Trump in opposition.

But you people haven’t moved. Trump’s base support is still there. So now the media’s moving in trying to come up with ways to separate or distance you from Trump. They do not know and never have known why you voted for Trump. To this day — do not doubt me on this, Russ, old buddy, old pal — they still don’t understand why the Access Hollywood tape didn’t destroy Trump’s campaign, and they’re livid over that, by the way.

They are LIVID that it didn’t. They don’t understand why Trump saying what he said on announcement day about Mexicans and McCain being captured and how he has no… They don’t understand why you didn’t abandon Trump then. They don’t understand it; they never will. But they’re coming for you, nevertheless. But if you’re not watching ’em, it’ll never work. So keep up the strategy.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So here it is: “Harvard Study Reveals Huge Extent of Anti-Trump Media Bias.” This is the Shorenstein Center for the Press at Harvard (not to be confused with the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard) and the percentages of negative versus positive coverage. And we have CNN, and the chart here printed very small — and in fact, it’s impossible to read. But I’ll read the text here, and it’s like 93% negative, 7% positive. NBC, the same thing, 93-7. This is of Trump’s first hundred days. NBC was 93% negative, 7% positive. CBS is like 91% negative and 9% positive. The New York Times: 85% negative. The Washington Post, looks like 83% negative.

The Wall Street… Even the Wall Street Journal, the supposed Wall Street Journal is at, it looks like, 62% negative. The only network that even approaches balance is Fox, and even it is 52% negative, 48% positive for Trump. They survey European outlets, and the German version of NPR is like 98% negative, 2% positive. German version of NPR. There’s nothing in here other than the truth. “Every outlet was negative more often than positive” by a striking advantage or percentage. When you look at even Harvard can’t cover this up!
