RUSH: Over the weekend, the Drive-By Media went wall-to-wall on the tragic plight of a pregnant woman in California.

Joel Arrona-Lara and his wife, Maria del Carmen Venegas stopped at a gas station on the way to the hospital. ICE agents approached their car and asked for ID. She had hers but he didn’t. ICE agents apprehended him, and Maria had to drive herself to her scheduled C-section.

In Spanish, Maria told a local CBS News outlet that her husband had waited a long time for his son, but now had been taken away leaving her to feel bad.

That pretty much sums up the first round of reporting: ICE agents have hearts of ice. They’re so heartless they snatched up a poor immigrant dad driving his wife to the hospital to see his son’s birth.

Turns out there’s more to the story. ICE explained that dear old Dad — here illegally — is wanted in his native Mexico on an outstanding warrant for murder.

Well, well, well. So ICE isn’t heartless, after all.
