HALL OF PATRIOTS – CLASS OF 2021 INDUCTEE
Jason Werstak
We are pleased to induct Jason Werstak of Raeford, North Carolina into The Rush Limbaugh Show Hall of Patriots, 2021 class. Werstak completed high school ROTC and joined the National Guard in 1993, as an artillery forward observer. He attended the Citadel (class of 1998) and changed his job to cavalry scout. Werstak left the National Guard in 2000, but after September 11, 2001, returned to the Army as a combat engineer, volunteering for airborne. Ultimately, he was assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, Colorado. During this time, he completed two tours in Iraq supporting the Green Berets.
After returning to the United States, he was assigned to 1st BCT, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, and completed his first tour to Afghanistan. Following this deployment, he returned to Fort Carson and then to Fort Bragg where he volunteered for drill sergeant duty. After completing two years in this position, he was deployed for the fourth time, this time to Afghanistan with the 307th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade. Maxwell remembers the “two good men” lost from his company in battle.
Werstak is originally from Florida, where he grew up in a conservative house and developed an attraction to the military. He began listening to Rush after college while working as a truck driver. Werstak let us know that he learned more from Rush relating to critical thinking than in all his formal education.
