RUSH: Mad Dog Mattis, secretary of defense for a time during the Trump administration, wrote an op-ed in the deep state’s official foreign affairs publication called Foreign Affairs. He said he hopes that Joe Biden will, quote, “take ‘America first’ out of the U.S. national security strategy,” which confirms that Mattis is a globalist first, not an American first, and should have never been defense secretary.
He’s a general. Can’t change that. But, see, it’s this kind of thinking that seems to have made a lot of our so-called military leaders turn on Trump. I mean, this is absurd. He says he hopes Biden “will take ‘America first’ out of U.S. national security….” What in the world? Look at the series of achievements and accomplishments of the Trump administration as a result of America first.
That’s what these people oppose! They oppose American greatness. They oppose America first. What in the world is wrong with America first? It doesn’t mean we slough everybody else off. It doesn’t mean we disrespect anybody else. It means that everybody else benefits from a stronger America. The world does not benefit from a weakened America.
The world does not benefit from an America that gets watered down and diluted and is nothing special. The world doesn’t benefit from that. That’s what these guys all want. The globalists are demanding globalism, and what has to happen for globalism to succeed? The United States has to be cut down to size. You have to get rid of superpowers, essentially, or you have to have more than one so that there is “balance.”
So that there is some way to limit the bad, dangerous tendencies of the United States. This is what the American people voted for, but I don’t believe they knew it; that’s the problem. I don’t. Maybe they did. Look, I know that a certain number of Democrats did; don’t misunderstand. I know the Democrat Party, as constituted, has a whole bunch of anti-American types in it. But they’re not anywhere near majority of this was country.
Twitter is not America; it’s not even close. Facebook is not America; it’s not even close. Zuckerberg and his gang had to work really hard to do what they did to this election into Biden’s camp. But this idea that Biden should take America first out of national security? It’s one thing to take America first out of economic matters. It’s another thing to take America first out of national security!
How in the hell can you oppose America first in terms of national security? What’s the point of the United States government? “Former defense secretary James [“Mad Dog”] Mattis said in an op-ed on Monday,” that would be yesterday, for those of you in Rio Linda, “that he hopes Biden will take ‘America first’ out of the national security strategy for his incoming [regime]. Mattis wrote the op-ed titled, ‘Defense in Depth’ for Foreign Affairs magazine.”
There are three other authors on the piece. He says, “In January, when President Joe Biden and his national security team begin to reevaluate U.S. foreign policy, we hope they will quickly revise the national security strategy to eliminate ‘America first’ from its contents, restoring in its place the commitment to cooperative security that has served the United States so well for decades.” BS.
“Cooperative security” made us put ourselves second and third and fourth and fifth, by design. That is exactly what happened during the Obama administration. That was its purpose, and these people loved it. For whatever sick reason, these people loved the devaluation of the United States of America. They loved the devaluation of the United States as a superpower, as an economic power, as a military power — and for what?
Guilt? Why does the United States need to be punished? Why does the United States need…? I mean, in our natural existence because of capitalism and freedom and liberty and our Constitution, we are the strongest, the greatest, the most powerful — militarily and economically — nation ever to exist. Why in the world is that bad?
Why in the world would you purposely want to evolve strategies, policies that would punish the United States for its greatness? What in the world do you hope to accomplish? Well, the answer to that is globalism — and globalism ultimately means a world without borders, for one thing, and it means a world without nation states. Do not doubt me on this. These people believe that nation states represent a huge problem to the concept of global governance.
RUSH: Here’s Debbie, Waukesha, Wisconsin. You’re next. Great to have you. Hi.
CALLER: Thank you, Rush. And God bless you.
RUSH: God bless you. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Thank you so much. I know you’ve moved on from this subject, but I just wanted to make a quick comment on General Mattis —
RUSH: Wait a minute. We never move on from anything. If you want to talk about Mad Dog Mattis. I’ve not moved on from it. I just set the table. If you’ve got a comment on Mad Dog Mattis, by all means. Mad Dog it.
CALLER: My thought is that, you know, people like Mattis, they don’t realize that believing in American exceptionalism, putting America first, has put us right where we are now, on the cusp of distributing vaccines for COVID.
RUSH: That’s not how they look at the world. You’re absolutely right. That’s not how they look at world.
CALLER: I know, but it’s a shame.
RUSH: It’s more than a shame. It’s a clear and present danger, if you ask me. People like Mattis believe in cronyism. Cronyism is the way of the world. Cronyism is how you advance. Cronyism is how you pad your income, how you have an income. Cronyism is how you have membership in what we call the deep state, the establishment, or what have you.
And the whole concept of American exceptionalism to them is, that’s for hayseed hicks. That’s so old-fashioned. There’s a global world out there now that’s interconnected and interdependent, and the idea that the United States is some standalone place is simply absurd. It’s how they look at it.
CALLER: That’s a shame. It is. I mean, we are a nation blessed by God. It’s beautiful.
RUSH: We really are.
CALLER: And people like you add so much to it.
RUSH: We really are a nation blessed by God. I firmly believe. I believe that after having studied the elements of American history, the true story of the first Thanksgiving. So many absolutely unique, wonderful things had to happen. In fact, there’s a book, Catherine Drinker Bowen, called Miracle at Philadelphia. It’s about the writing of the Constitution, how it came together.
It is a miracle. No other time in human history has anything like the United States ever been attempted. The United States Constitution has never been attempted anywhere but here. And it works, and it worked. And it continues to work, despite efforts to undermine it that are coming from within. And Thanksgiving is — do you know what Thanksgiving is?
I wonder how many people really know what the official holiday of Thanksgiving signifies. It has nothing to do with the Indians and eating and thanking them for saving us at Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrims. Well, it does, but that’s not the reason for George Washington’s first Thanksgiving proclamation. The creation of the actual holiday from George Washington was largely about thanking God for the newly ratified Constitution.
Everybody who participated in the Constitutional Convention realized how unique it was, how special it was, how privileged they were to be part of it. Lives, fortunes, sacred honor. People lost everything to create this nation. Fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence. Many of them lost everything, including sons who were taken prisoner and tortured. Catherine Drinker Bowen, Miracle at Philadelphia. Their sons were taken prisoner and tortured. They were told their sons would be released if they would renounce the Declaration of Independence. They didn’t renounce.
RUSH: Biden, as I say, while we were going through the original story, the true story of the first Thanksgiving and what it means, Biden was announcing his cabinet today. He held a press conference around several of his foreign policy, national security posts in the cabinet. Couple of sound bites. Here’s the first.
BIDEN: They embody my core beliefs that America is strongest when it works with its allies. Collectively, this team has secured some of the most defining national security and diplomatic achievements in recent memory, made possible through decades of experience working with our partners. That’s how we truly keep America safe without engaging in needless military conflicts and our adversaries in check and terrorists at bay.
RUSH: You know, I’m sorry, Senor Biden, but Trump’s done all that. What do you mean, without engaging in needless military conflicts? That’s what you and Obama did! You guys had us all over the world at war. Trump has brought people home. Trump is the first president that’s not started a war in I don’t know how many presidents. Not a single war was started under Donald Trump. What are you talking about here?
Keep our adversaries in check? Donald Trump has taken out terrorist leaders such as Qassem Soleimani in Iran, head of the Iranian Republican Guard. This is incredible what happened. Keep terrorists at bay? Donald Trump, been there, done that. You know, this is what frosts me. The Drive-By Media doesn’t report the truth of any of Trump’s achievements, and they are monumental. They are extraordinary. I don’t care — foreign policy, domestic, economic. Talk about taking out terrorists. How about negating ISIS?
And here comes Joe Bite Me talking about his check box of properly skin-colored appointees who have some of the greatest diplomatic achievements in recent memory. What recent memory? Keep America safe without engaging in needless military conflicts? We haven’t been engaged in needless military conflicts since you left office. Keep our adversaries in check? How you gonna do that even better and more so than Trump did? Terrorists at bay? How about killing terrorist leaders like ISIS, Qassem Soleimani? Here’s the next Bite Me sound bite.
BIDEN: They also reflect the idea that we cannot meet these challenges with old thinking and unchanged habits.
BIDEN: For example, we’re gonna have the first woman lead the intelligence community. The first Latino, an immigrant, to lead the Department of Homeland Security. And a groundbreaking diplomat at the United Nations.
RUSH: A groundbreaking diplomat at the United Nations? Somebody knows how to break ground? The first woman to lead the intelligence community? I don’t think so. Trump appointed a woman named Gina Haspel over at the CIA. If that’s not the intelligence community, I don’t know what it is. I’m not sure she’s all that good, but he still appointed her. I know he’s talking about Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper’s old gig. But, folks, the first woman to lead the — okay, fine. Is she any good, or is she being chosen because she’s a woman? The first Latino, an immigrant, to lead the Department of Homeland Security. It sounds like we’re checking off diversity identity check boxes here. But that’s what liberal Democrats do.
