RUSH: There is a new study from USC, University of Southern California, that has found the same infection rate pretty much, pretty close to the same infection rate in Los Angeles County that the Stanford people found in Santa Clara County. The USC study says that they found infections could be up to 55 times higher than the confirmed cases number.
Now, in Santa Clara County, it was 50 to 85 times higher. The LA County survey done by USC said that the infection rate could be up to 55 times higher. It’s the same bottom line. If there have been that many infections, then the mortality rate is way, way below what we think, because we had the Scarf Queen, she was asked about this.
Grab audio sound bite number 7. John Roberts: “The University of Southern California and the LA Public Health department put out a report today that suggests that the penetrance of the virus is almost 40 times what it is believed to be, that as many as 442,000 people in LA County may have been affected… So, I’m wondering if you have seen that and what your thoughts were,” Scarf Queen?
BIRX: Over the last few weeks, I’ve been talking about the level of asymptomatic spread. Younger age-groups may have more asymptomatic disease and your asymptomatic disease may decrease with your older age-groups and that your symptomatic disease might increase with age-groups.
This is still our working hypothesis. We have no data right now still to support that, but it’s these kind of studies that help out. This is a highly contagious virus, and so all of us, as far as protecting others, must continue to do all of the recommendations to assure that when we are in an asymptomatic state we’re not passing the virus to others.
RUSH: Let me just tell you, anything that suggests the lockdown policy could be relaxed or may not have been necessary, they’re just gonna nuke it. They’re gonna nuke it.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Time for some media education. Educating you about how to deal with the media. (interruption) Don’t give me, “There is a solution to the hog problem and that’s veganism.” Yeah, plenty of plant based sausage out there. And what’s actually in it? That’s what I’d like to know. I don’t want to find out. See, you militant vegans just start pushing this stuff on us.
At any rate. If you see the following headline — and you will — I told you earlier that just as the Stanford study of Santa Clara County found that the number of infections in Santa Clara County may be 55 to 85 times higher than reported, that is good news. It isn’t bad news. Now, the study I mentioned earlier today from USC that in Los Angeles the number of the cases in LA may be 55 times than reported. That is good news. It isn’t bad. Not deaths. Not hospitalizations. We’re talking infections.
So if you see, for example, a headline, “Los Angeles Cases 55 Times Higher,” don’t be scared by it. They’re trying to scare you with it. They’re trying to make you think, “Oh, my God. Oh, my God. It’s more widespread than we’ve known. Oh, my God. We’re all gonna die.” No, no, no, no, no, folks. If there are 55 times more infections, it means the death rate, the mortality rate is way below what we think.
Let’s use some numbers that are not hard to remember on radio. These are hypothetical. Let’s say that in Los Angeles County there are 5,000 reported cases and 250 deaths. That’s gonna be a pretty high mortality rate. For every 5,000 people, 250 die, oh, my God. Now, the survey, the study, the new study says, no, no, no, no, no, 55 times 5,000. The number of deaths stay the same. So rather than 5,000 cases, infections, and 250 deaths, multiply that 5,000 times 55, and you have a death rate that is much, much smaller.
And Dr. Birx was asked about this yesterday. This is really important to understand. If you see a headline, “Los Angeles Cases 55 Times Higher,” it’s good news. It’s designed to scare the hell out of you. It’s designed to make it, “Oh, my God. It’s more widespread –” No. It means there’s a whole lot of people infected that never even get knot symptoms. They didn’t even know. Not only did they not die, they didn’t even get sick.
The bottom line is that the virulence of COVID-19 could be far less than the fearmongering would lead people to believe. We’re still early into this. We don’t really know. That’s why there are competing surveys. But the point is there are people that are refusing to accept the government numbers. Because they don’t seem right. They don’t seem right in terms of why we’ve shut so much down. And plus the model numbers with the projections of all these people dying have not been close yet, much less right.
So yesterday in the briefing, John Roberts of Fox News was talking to the Scarf Queen, the head of Team Scarf. And he said, he cited this LA number that I just gave you. “University of Southern California and the LA public health department put out report today that suggests the penetrance of the virus,” the penetration, “is between a40 times and 55 times what it’s believed to be. That as many as 442,000 people in LA county may have been affected, which suggests either that there are a lot more people out there who could be spreading the virus, but it also suggests that the fatality rate is much more in line with the flu of 2017-2018.” It could mean the mortality rate is 0.1, not 4.0. And so he said to Team Scarf’s leader, “I’m wondering if you’ve seen the southern USC, LA Public Health Department report? And if so, what are your thoughts on it?”
BIRX: Over the last three weeks I’ve been talking about the level of asymptomatic spread. Younger age groups may have more asymptomatic disease and your asymptomatic disease may decrease with your older age groups and that your symptomatic disease might increase with age groups. This is still our working hypothesis. We have no data right now still to support that, but it’s these kinds of studies that help that. This is a highly contagious virus, and so all of us as far as protecting others must continue to do all of the recommendations to ensure that when we’re in an asymptomatic state we are not passing the virus to others.
They’re not gonna come off that no matter what, is what she’s saying. She essentially didn’t even answer. I mean, the question really is, “Hey, there’s data out there the infection rate could be 40 to 55 times, which means the death rate is much, much less than what you’re working on. What are your thoughts?” She didn’t really address that aspect.
She focused on, “Well, if that many are asymptomatic,” meaning nobody has symptoms, these people don’t know they have symptoms. It could be young people, but they could be spreading the disease and may not even know it, that’s why we gotta be very, very careful, continue to social distance. If you just continue to do what Dr. Fauci says then everything will be okay. Otherwise we will have problems.
