RUSH: You know, folks, when Democrats realize what just happened on immigration, their heads will explode. Again.
Last week, President Trump directed federal agencies to start enforcing an immigration law that’s been on the books for quite a while.
The law requires sponsors of legal immigrants to repay the government for any food stamps, Medicaid, or other welfare benefits the immigrants use.
Now, here’s what will really stick in Democrats’ craw: The law was enacted in 1996 by their beloved Bill Clinton. Slick Willie! It was passed and signed into law by Clinton, and then ignored. Until now.
Today’s Democrats won’t find one thing to like about enforcing Clinton’s law. It used to be normal for immigrants to understand up front that they had to support themselves in America. But modern Democrats believe immigrants (legal and illegal) have the right to just come on in, and immediately guzzle from the U.S. government teat.
President Trump is trying to put a stop to that, with help from William Jefferson Blythe Clinton in 1996. We’re about to see how this plays with Democrats in 2019. It’s might not be pretty, and I kind of hope that it isn’t.
