What Will Stop the Democrats? Indictments!

by Rush Limbaugh - May 9,2019

RUSH: To the audio sound bites we go.  I just want you to hear this.  Here’s Jerry Nadler, who Trump talked about today in his press conference. (paraphrased) “Yeah, yeah. You know, Jerry’s from Manhattan.  I know Jerry.  Jerry and I go way back.  Jerry’s never beaten me in anything.  Jerry tried to stop me building this building.  He tried to stop me building that sewer.  He tried to stop me building that casino.  He tried to stop my buses to the casino.  Jerry’s never beaten me at anything.  But I like Jerry.  Jerry’s a good guy.  He used to be very big! Jerry used to be a really, really big guy. But he’s lost a lot of weight in there with a lap band.  He’s a fine guy now, but he doesn’t know how to beat me.”

Nadler is now the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and they voted late yesterday to hold the attorney general, William Barr, in contempt of Congress.

NADLER:  We took a long time about approaching a constitutional crisis.  We are now in it.  We are now in a constitutional crisis.  Benjamin Franklin, in 1787, was asked when he exited the Constitutional Convention, “What type of, uh, government have you given us, sir?” uh, by a woman asking the question. And he said, “A republic, ma’am, if you can keep it.”  Now is the time of testing whether we can keep a republic or whether this republic is destined to, uh, change into a different, more tyrannical form of government that other republics have over the centuries.

RUSH:  You know, Jerry Nadler is just… You know when the Ken Starr report came out, Jerry Nadler was totally opposed to it going public.  He was the exact opposite of the way he’s dealing with the Mueller Report.  But you can’t get these people on hypocrisy because hypocrisy never sticks to ’em. Hypocrisy never attaches to them.  When Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress by the Republicans, the Democrats walked out of Congress!  Do you remember this?  They literally walked out.  They were led by Pelosi and John Lewis and Elijah Cummings and the whole crowd, the Congressional Black Caucasians.

When Eric Holder was held in contempt, they protested. They walked out. They claimed, “This was outrageous, should never have happened.”  Did the Republicans walk out yesterday when these clowns claimed that the attorney general is in contempt?  The attorney general was not in contempt.  He did not refuse a subpoena.  It was a voluntary appearance and he said, “No. I’m not showing up if you guys aren’t asking the questions.”  We don’t have a constitutional crisis. A constitutional crisis is what Nadler and his people are doing.  They’re turning it upside down here.  Here’s Evan Perez yesterday morning on CNN talking to the infobabe Poppy Harlow…

PEREZ:  It’s kind of hard to understand how they went nuclear so quickly on this. It seems rather like they have started a constitutional crisis, not the other way around.

RUSH:  I don’t know if this guy’s still working there today.  But this is Evan Perez who said yesterday (summarized), “Democrats are the ones starting this. The Democrats have caused this constitutional crisis, not the Republicans.”  Republicans haven’t done anything!  Trump has never, never stood in the way. He has not obstructed anything here, and it was Barr… It was Barr who requested that the administration assert executive privilege.  Anyway, here’s Pelosi.  Her new favorite line:  “Trump is self-impeaching.”

PELOSI:  That is the path that I am following.  It’s about the facts and the law.  Now, as I said yesterday, the president is almost self-impeaching because he is, every day, demonstrating more obstruction of justice and, uh, disrespect for, uh, Congress’s legitimate role to subpoena.  Again, this is very methodical. It’s very constitution based. It’s very law based. It’s very factually based.  It’s not, um, about pressure.  It’s about patriotism.  No, we’re not even talking about isolated situations.  We’re talking about a cumulative effect of obstruction that the administration is engaged in.

RUSH:  Trump is “self-impeaching.”  He says Democrats… They’re literally saying that they don’t want to impeach Trump but Trump’s goading them into it. Trump is making them do it.  They don’t want to impeach him, but damn it, Trump is making ’em. (summarized) “He’s self-impeaching.  Here’s forcing us to impeach him.  We don’t want to impeach him.  He’s making us do it.”  Here is Steve Cohen.  This is vicious, raw, anti-Trump hatred.

COHEN:  Lots of people think we need to do something stronger, and show me why where he shouldn’t go as far as we can? Because I definitely believe this man committed impeachable offenses. He’s threatened the Constitution. He’s threatened what we know about democracy, the republic, the rule of law — and, uhhh, it’s just a question of how best to remove him from office.

RUSH:  That doesn’t sound like Steve Cohen to me.  It is, but this… He was the guy yesterday talking about (impression), “Trump was broke! The Russians bailed him out. This guy is committing crimes. He deserves to be strung up.” Here, grab into the number 23.  Jen Psaki.  Jen Psaki ran the Hillary campaign in 2016.  She’s on with Jake Tapper on CNN yesterday.  Question: “Sarah Sanders makes the argument that grand jury materials are not allowed to be released, but she’s again saying the attorney general is being asked to break the law by Chairman Nadler.”

PSAKI:  How sad it is that you can go out there and be a serial liar and represent an administration, Republican or Democratic — and we watch that every day.  And I rooted for her from the beginning.  I will say, in this case, Nadler is… I hope he’s not following the rules, yes, the legal rules.  But we need to be more rule-breakers on the Democratic side and not play by the game that has always been played, because we’re dealing with Donald Trump.

RUSH:  She said, “We need to break the rules to get Trump.”  If you wonder what she’s saying there (translated), “I hope he’s not following the rules, the legal rules! I hope he’s not.  We gotta get rid of Trump.  If we have to break the rules to get rid of Trump, then we gotta break the rules to get rid of Trump.”

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Brad in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Great to have you on the program today, sir.  How are you?

CALLER:  Hello, Rush.  I’m really good.  A liberal friend turned me on to your show 30 years ago, and I’ve been listening ever since.

RUSH:  A liberal friend turned you on to this show?

CALLER:  A liberal friend.  He listened every day. He completely disagreed, but listened every day.

RUSH:  That’s because it’s a good show and he was entertained by it, no doubt.

CALLER:  It is.  It is.  My point is that I don’t think the Democrats are really after the Mueller report.  Even if Bill Barr gave them the unredacted version, I believe that they would still complain.  I believe what they’re really after is the investigative and evidentiary materials behind the report.  I’m looking at a text from a May 3rd letter that Jerry Nadler sent to the attorney general.  This is a quote:  “As indicated in Item 2 of the committee’s subpoena, the committee has a heightened interest in obtaining access to the investigative and evidentiary materials.”  So what they really want is all the materials that Mr. Mueller collected.

RUSH:  You know, this is… You’re really close here.  I don’t even think they want that.  They’ve got all that. Mueller left nothing out. Believe me, he left nothing out.  He’s got all the innuendo and character assassination and destruction they could hope for in this report.  But you’re on to something else.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Look, the bottom line to our previous caller: It’s never gonna stop until one thing happens.  If Nadler and his committee are shown the entire report — if they are shown the investigative memoranda, if they are shown all the papers, if they are shown everything — it isn’t gonna stop.  Folks, there’s nothing in it now and they’re not stopping.  The report says: No collusion.  The obstruction chapter or section (Section 2), to me, is slander and libel.  It is the exact opposite of what a prosecutor is to do according to the American system of justice.

If you don’t charge somebody, you don’t say anything about what they did.  In any other world, what Mueller has done to Trump here would be actionable.  It is nothing but a bunch of slanderous and libelous breadcrumbs for people like Nadler and the rest of the Democrats to follow.  But there’s nothing.  There wasn’t any collusion, so there was nothing to obstruct.  Trump didn’t obstruct.  We’re going crazy saying all this over and over.  The Democrats could be shown everything, and it wouldn’t stop them.

They would just say that it does say something that needs to be investigated.  They’d just make it up like they’re making this up.  They are still acting as though Trump stole the election, even though there isn’t a shred of evidence and never has been.  So if Mueller gave them everything, it wouldn’t stop them.  They’re not looking for everything.  They’re looking for refusal.  They’re looking for the government holding something back.  They’re looking for anything that will allow them to tell their increasingly insane base that there is something, and it’s being hidden.

And there was perhaps collusion, and there was obstruction. But Barr, “the handpicked attorney general of Donald Trump,” is working to keep it all from them. They want to be able to say this.  And if they were given everything, they would lie about what it says or doesn’t say.  So what will stop them?  Well, again, it’s offense and defense.  The only thing that is going to stop this… ‘Cause look: “Collusion! Collusion! Collusion!” Now there’s no collusion.  So, “Obstruction! Obstruction! Obstruction!” There’s no collusion.  So, “Tax returns! Tax returns! Tax returns.”

And on and on and on.  This isn’t gonna stop until some of these people are indicted.  I’m telling you right here and right now: The current framework of all this with the Democrats on offense, leveling endless allegations where there is no evidence for any of it, is not gonna stop until Comey or McCabe or Brennan or Bruce and Nellie Ohr or Strzok Smirk and Page — until somebody — is indicted for felonies, for felony leaking, for deluding the FISA court. That has to happen.  This Barr investigation has to happen, and this is why there have to be indictments.

The people who did this must be held accountable like any of the rest of us would be had we engaged in any of this.  Comey is gonna do a town hall meeting on CNN Tonight where he is going to, once again, be given a full hour with a stacked audience to talk about the robust abilities of the FBI and how God-fearing they are and how patriotic they are. And how they saw evidence that there were members of the campaign talking to Russians and they had to investigate it.  It would have been irresponsible not to.

He’s gonna be given one hour in a town hall meeting to continue this charade, with himself as Captain America, Captain Flag, Captain Patriot, when it is obvious that he misrepresented the truth to the FISA court in applying for the warrant to spy.  Look, James Comey is on record as saying the Steele dossier was unverified, that it was salacious, that it was uncorroborated.  He told Trump that on January 6, 2017, before Trump was even inaugurated. And yet, after that date, Comey’s FBI continued to use the dossier to renew the FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

So if Comey tells Trump, “It’s unverified, it’s salacious, it’s uncorroborated,” and it was!  It was all made up. The DNC paid for it. (He didn’t tell Trump that.)  Comey testified to so many different things.  Until these people are indicted — and that’s not gonna happen tomorrow, and it isn’t gonna happen next week.  We’re not even expecting the inspector general report before the end of the month.  Now, if Trump came along and declassified all these documents, that would go a long way. But it’s still not gonna stop until the people who did this are formally accused — in detail — of doing what they did.

That would change offense and defense, and that would put Nadler and all the rest — Pelosi, take your pick of the Democrat presidential nominees, the media. It would throw everybody back. Now, they would then have to mount a steadfast defense of every damn source who lied to them over and over and over for two years about Trump colluding.  That would stop this.  That would turn CNN and the New York Times and MSNBC and all the rest of them into the biggest defense-lawyer crowd you have ever seen. And until that happens, this current framework isn’t gonna end.

The never-ending allegations of, “What’s in the report that we can’t see? The never-ending collusion, the Republicans obstructing justice, the president declaring a constitutional crisis,” all of this made-up pap.  It’s going to go on until the people responsible for it are held formally accountable.  And if and when that happens, then you talk about…? As I say, the Republicans have this plan to find a Never Trumper to be on the ballot to siphon votes away from Trump. The Never Trumper will not be intending to win.  He won’t even probably be on every ballot in every state.

He’ll run as an independent. Just get on in some of these states that Trump narrowly won, take enough votes away from Trump so that Trump loses.  If these people who the Never-Trumpers invested in and believe in — if some of them get indicted, if some of them are held accountable for what they did — it throws everything upside down.  That’s just one of the reasons why it has to happen. The primary reason is these people cannot be allowed to get away with this.

What they have done is the real constitutional crisis, is the real analogy to Benjamin Franklin leaving the Constitutional Convention and a woman saying, “Mr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?”  “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”  It is they, my friends, who have imperiled our republic. A bunch of unelected, elite snobs commandeering the intelligence apparatus of this country and arraying it against one person who happened to be the presidential nominee of the opposing party?

Tell me where that’s found somewhere within the realm of our constitutional government.

You can look and look and look, and you will not find it.
