RUSH: You want to hear something that takes the cake? This is it.

When he was California’s lieutenant governor, Gavin Newsom fully supported the 2017 state law that increased gasoline taxes. Last year, running for governor, Newsom opposed a ballot initiative to repeal those massive gas taxes, and they elected him anyway.

But now that he’s governor, Newsom has questions. He’s asking the state energy commission to investigate why California has the highest gasoline taxes in America. (laughing)

Now, the average price for a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. is $2.89; in California, it’s over four smackers! Newsom blames everyone but Democrats. He didn’t ask the energy commission to investigate the high Democrat gas increases. He didn’t ask the commission to look at the cost of Democrat “wacko-ism,” including California’s cap-and-trade scheme, which directly affects the price of gas.

And like the typical liberal he is, Newsom is pointing his finger at the oil industry and big business, painting them as villains. In reality, any California driver who complains about gas prices should be giving the finger to Newsom and his fellow Democrats. They raised them, and now they’re complaining about them — and they’re the total cause of them!
