RUSH: It seems like it was only yesterday that the Democrats in the House passed a resolution that was supposed to prove that they aren’t anti-Semitic, right? So now we learn that none of the 2020 presidential candidates are gonna go to the AIPAC, the American Israel Political Action Committee meeting, convention, whatever.
They are boycotting the Jewish political action committee! And Trump is out there saying, “See? I’ve been telling you, I’ve been telling you the Democrats are a bunch of anti-Semites.” And this new crop of ’em definitely are. It certainly appears to be that way.
JOHNNY DONOVAN: And now, from sunny south Florida, it’s Open Line Friday!
RUSH: Let me see if I can fix that switch. Greetings, and welcome back. Rush Limbaugh here — 800-282-2882 is the number. Whatever you want to talk about, fine and dandy.
It was just like yesterday the Democrats passed this resolution that was supposed to prove they are not anti-Semitic. They wouldn’t even call out Ilhan Omar. And AIPAC — folks, the alliance between Jewish Democrats and the Democrat Party has been unbreakable. It has been as solid and as unbreakable as the alliance between the NAALCP and the Democrat Party. Now we have Move On and Code Pink and the rest of the George Soros crowd telling all these Democrats to avoid AIPAC, avoid anything to do with Jewish donors and contributors.
This is much bigger than anybody is making this out to be. This is the severing, by all of the presidential candidates on the Democrat side, their ties to traditional Jewish allies in the Democrat Party. I mean, this is a huge thing. And the irony that just days after they went so, so far, they tried so hard to convince everybody that even though Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib or whatever in their party, no, we’re not anti-Semites, don’t think that at all, we love Israel and we love the Jewish people. But then when it comes time to go to AIPAC, (raspberry) you, Israel, we don’t want any part.
Also, I got an email, “Rush, are you gonna talk about Peggy Noonan’s column today?” I hadn’t planned on it. I’ve known Peggy for a long time. Peggy has never been a big fan. She’s lived off being a Reagan speechwriter for a long, long – (interruption) Well, she hasn’t been a big fan. I remember one time she said, “You’re the guy with all the truck drivers in the audience, right?” That was in like 1990, and it went downhill from there.
Anyway, I hadn’t seen the column, so I went and looked at it as a subscriber to the Wall Street Journal. It’s a business expense, you know, so I can afford it. And her point today is that the crude politics of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar are the fault of Donald Trump, that they are following Donald Trump’s lead, that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar have established this new, virulent, angry, mean-spirited, extremist mood in Congress, which is an approach to national politics that’s combative, it’s angry, and it’s polarizing, and they learned it all from Donald Trump.
So that’s why I was asked if I was gonna comment on it. And I will since I’ve been asked to. Normally I wouldn’t have mentioned it or brought it up. But, Peggy, if I may use your first name, I think you’re missing something very key and important here, very crucial. I don’t think Donald Trump has a thing to do with Ocasio-Cortez or Ilhan Omar. They have nothing in common whatsoever.
Donald Trump loves America, wants to make it great. These two babes do not. They do not love this country as founded, and they are hell-bent on remaking it. And there’s no question about this. If you ask me, and this is just my humble little opinion as host, but I think Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are Barack Obama.
I think Obama is who fathered them in terms of their political beliefs and their behavior mode, their confrontation, their desire to transform America. I don’t think there’s any linkage between these two people, Omar and Cortez and Tlaib to Trump. It’s all to Obama. And Peggy is supposedly a Republican. And this is the thing that frustrates me so much, and it’s what’s gonna frustrate you when you hear the Gerson piece.
I’m telling you, Donald Trump doesn’t subscribe to any of that at all, but Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, they subscribe to every bit of you didn’t build that. It’s so convenient to try to blame Trump for these people. But Barack Obama is responsible for so much of the partisanship. He is responsible for so much of the polemics. He is responsible for the direction the Democrat Party has taken.
You think this anti-Israel position has nothing to do with Obama? It’s right out of the Obama playbook. I mean, this is the guy that was paying Iran, paying them and striking a deal with them to further their development of nuclear weapons. Is Donald Trump exhibiting any such behavior with America’s enemies? I could go on, but you get my drift.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
Here’s more on the Democrats and Israel. “MoveOn.org Calls on Democratic 2020 Candidates to Boycott AIPAC Conference.” They’re “urging 2020 Democratic contenders to boycott this year’s AIPAC policy conference, saying the pro-Israel group verges on Islamophobia.” Folks, there’s another thing. I don’t think a lot of Democrats are yet aware of what is happening to their party. They think they’re gonna get it corralled and they think they’re gonna get it contained, but they may not.
The Democrat Party is becoming the party of militant Islam in this country. When you have organizations like… The relationship between the Democrat Party and AIPAC is no different than the relationship between the Democrat Party and the NAALCP or the Democrat Party and the Service Employees International Union or the Democrat Party and militant feminazis or the Democrat Party and any of their other constituency groups. Now with MoveOn…? And there’s another group, I forget what. MoveOn is not insignificant.
They’re coming out, and they are “demanding that every 2020 Democrat presidential candidate boycott AIPAC” because “the Jews” have “Islamophobia” and AIPAC is “verging” on it, and we can’t have Islamophobia in the Democrat Party. Here’s what MoveOn said in a statement. This is to Politico. “It’s no secret that that AIPAC has worked to hinder diplomatic efforts like the Iran deal, is undermining Palestinian self-determination, and inviting figures actively involved in human rights violations to its stage.”
That’s right. Kamala “Harris has previously spoken in warm terms at AIPAC’s Policy Conference, calling it ‘an honor’ to speak there in 2017.” Code Pink is the other group — and this is a bunch of nuts. I mean, Code Pink? This this this bunch? Pshew! There’s nobody sane in that group, and they’re joining MoveOn and telling all these 2020 Democrat presidential candidates not to show up at this Jewish policy group, and they’re not going. They don’t want to be accused of “Islamophobia.”
By extension, they are acknowledging that AIPAC — i.e., Jewish Democrats — are Islamophobes! Now, let’s make no mistake about it. There are a whole lot of Islamic nations in the Middle East who want there to be no Israel, and they want to accomplish this by forcing all citizens of Israel to march into the Mediterranean Sea and drown. I guess if you oppose being murdered, it might make you an Islamophobe to these people. But this is striking. Trump is right again. He’s just calling it out. The Democrat Party is becoming anti-Jewish.
I never thought I would live to actually see this happen.

RUSH: I’m gonna tell you what happens, or what is happening. And you need to look at it from this perspective. The Democrat Party is trying to turn Israel into South Africa and the apartheid movement, and they’re using the same exact language that they used against South Africa.
JOHNNY DONOVAN: And now, from sunny south Florida, it’s Open Line Friday!
RUSH: That’s right. Stunning! They are kicking to the curb a major donor base, if nothing else! It’s not a full-fledged break. I mean, you got Pelosi and Schumer and these clowns showing up, the Jurassic Park Democrats. But these young whippersnappers are making it clear that they don’t like the Jews. The Jews are Islamophobes, just like in South Africa. The Afrikaaners were a bunch of racists. I will never forget that.
That all started — well, it intensified when I was in Sacramento and the Nelson Mandela era, was he gonna get out of prison or not. And you had Pieter Botha who was the president the South Africa, and he was doing his best to save South Africa from the African National Congress, which was Mandela’s group.
And you had American universities in a race with each other to see who could take their investment money out of South Africa the fastest. And Democrat presidential candidates joined that parade, started demanding disinvestment in South Africa. University of California Berkeley was leading the way out on the Left Coast.
And I remember Botha, Jesse Jackson hated the guy, pronounced it Botha, Mr. Botha, it was a purposeful mispronunciation. But Pieter, actually it was one of his spokesmen. I wish I could remember his name. I remember his face. And I have perfected my impersonation of this guy. This had such an impact on me, and I can’t tell you why.
But this was during the fevered pitch where the United States was being pressured, every American corporation, every individual was being pressured to get the hell out of South Africa, stop endorsing the apartheid regime. And Winnie Mandela was out there necklacing their enemies, which was putting gasoline on automobile tires and then throwing those tires on their enemies while the flames were lit.
And this spokesman for, and this spokesman for Pieter Botha, P-o-t-h-a was on Nightline, and they were trying to rattle this guy by calling him all kinds of names and calling his boss all kinds of names, and he just could not be rattled. No matter what they insulted, no matter what they tried, no matter what the allegations, he sat there, and every sentence he began, “Mr. Botha says destroy sub-Saharan Africa, and you will destroy the entire continent.”
And you should have seen the outraged reaction to that. “Mr. Botha says destroy white South Africa and you will destroy all of sub-Saharan Africa.” And they went nuts! And there are beginning to be parallels here. We haven’t gotten to the point of Netanyahu saying destroy Israel and you’re gonna destroy democracy in the Middle East, but we’re not far behind it.
But it’s this new, young Turk bunch of Democrats that are making no bones about the fact that they have no love lost for Israel, no love lost for the Jewish people. And honestly, folks, I never thought I would live to see the day. I’m looking for the sound bites. Yeah, grab sound bite number one and two. This is Trump this morning in Washington on the White House lawn.
He once again met the press as he was on his way to Marine One, the helicopter, to go to Joint Base Andrews to catch Air Force One on his flight down here. He’s spending the weekend here at Mar-a-Lago. And he always stops to engage the press. And some reporter started shouting at him, “Mr. President, you said you said Democrats are anti-Israel, they’re anti-Jewish. They’re all skipping the AIPAC conference next week. Is that what you mean?”
THE PRESIDENT: The Democrats have very much proven to be anti-Israel. There’s no question about that. And it’s a disgrace. I mean, I don’t know what’s happened to them, but they are totally anti-Israel. Frankly, I think they’re anti-Jewish.
NETANYAHU: He did it again. First, he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moved the U.S. embassy here. Then he pulled out of the disastrous Iran treaty and reimposed sanctions. But now he did something of equal historic importance. He recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And the message that President Trump has given the world is that America stands by Israel.
RUSH: Okay. A brief pause here for a personal story. Back in 1993, I took a five-day trip to Israel, and I crammed probably what would have been a semester’s worth of education into those five days. I went to as many places and I met with — Mossad briefing at practically every stop and met with Netanyahu, David Bar-Illan, who was running the Jerusalem Post at the time.
I had meetings with Shimon Peres who kept on buckling his belt during the meeting. It was the strangest thing, and he kept talking about how Reagan was destroying the trees. I think somebody had told him that I was some wild, extremist conservative and he was toying with me.
And then Yitzhak Rabin, which was a fascinating — this was at a time where Clinton and everybody was on the verge of offering the Palestinians everything they wanted to make a deal, and I kept asking Rabin, “Why are you doing this? Is it generational? Are you tired of constant war and you don’t want this for your kids?” And he said, “No, no, no, no. It’s a good deal.” Anyway, Arafat turned it down ’cause he didn’t want a deal. Clinton did offer everything that Arafat was demanding, and they walked away from it.
But one of the stops was to the Golan Heights. And I’d only read about this. I had looked at it on a map. It was just a flat two dimensional map. But when you go to these places, Israel is smaller than New Jersey in many ways, nine miles wide at its most narrow point. And I remember we had a military escort with us at the Golan Heights.
And a member of the Israeli Defense Forces, a 22- to 23-year-old young man. And somebody in our group asked him why he was doing what he was doing, why the Israeli Defense Force as a career and so forth. And he said, “I want you to walk over here with me.” We were right there at the top, Golan Heights. He said, “You see that direction there?” And we looked. “Right there are people who want to wipe this country off the face of the earth. Now turn and look there. See that?”
I said, “Yeah.”
“Well, that’s another country and they want to wipe us off the face of the earth.” He could go 360 degrees. Well, not 360, because part of that would be looking into Israel. But right there you had Syria, Jordan. He could point out the surrounding nations that wanted to eliminate Israel, and they’re that close. And that’s why the Golan Heights were so strategically important, and they were fought over numerous times.
But it’s one of the elements of the trip — well, I’ll never forget any of it — but it’s one of the elements I remember ’cause it’s something we cannot relate to. Our enemies have to cross oceans — well, they don’t anymore. They come in through the southern border. And that’s not a joke. That is not a joke. Our enemies can easily come into the southern border. But this is 1993, and while we weren’t looking at illegal immigration in the way we do now, our enemies had to launch weapons that had to be able to fly over oceans to get to us.
We couldn’t relate. The best we could do is pretend that we’re in New York and think of New Jersey as a nation that wants to wipe us out, which is what Israelis face day in and day out. It changed my perspective on the geostrategic military aspects of Israel’s existence, even though they didn’t need changing, just reinforced them.
Here’s Trump, he had an interview with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox Business Network today. She asked him about the Golan Heights. She said, “The Golan Heights, you tweeted about this today in Israel. You said that it’s time for the U.S. to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Why now? Why did you send that one out?”
THE PRESIDENT: I’ve been thinking about doing it for a long time. It’s been a very hard decision for every president. No president has done it.
BARTIROMO: It’s not about making Netanyahu’s reelection?
REPORTER: No, I don’t — I wouldn’t even know about that. I wouldn’t even know about that. I had no idea. He is doing okay. I don’t know if he’s doing great right now, but I hear he’s doing okay. But I would imagine the other side, whoever’s against him is also in favor of what I just did. Every president has said, do that. I’m the one that gets it done.
RUSH: Well, no, every president did not say that we have to do this. Let’s go back to May 19th, 2011, at the State Department, president Barack Hussein O, The One, was speaking to his acolytes in the State Department.
OBAMA: The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps.
RUSH: Which meant Israel would have to relinquish the Golan Heights that they won and conquered in ’67. And there’s Obama, this is eight years ago, and he’s demanding that Israel relinquish the Golan Heights. So it’s not correct to say that every president has said do that and I’m the one that got it done. He is the one that got it done.
Here’s Netanyahu back in 2011, May 20th. Now, Obama speaks May 19th. May 20th, 2011, in Washington during an Oval Office meeting with Obama, this is Benjamin Netanyahu who said this about Obama’s call for Israel to return to the ’67 borders.
RUSH: Well, it’s not just that. Israel was attacked in 1967 and won the territory, and the call for them to go back to the ’67 borders was the equivalent of Israel giving back everything it won while it was defending itself. This is why — you know, Peggy Noonan says that Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib and all these other clowns are descendants of Trump. It’s crazy. They are direct descendants of Obama, and particularly when you get to Middle East foreign policy. They have nothing in common with Donald Trump whatsoever.
One more. This is Robert Francis O’Rourke. Have you noticed something — have you paid attention to Beto? I didn’t know this. This guy’s six four. Six feet, four inches tall. This is the guy who after he lost to Ted Cruz went on a sabbatical of dirt eating to cleanse his system from the corruption of the political campaign. He also fed his wife — I’m sorry, folks — a baby turd. No, that sounds like the turd has — pet turd — a baby turd, not a baby turd. A baby turd, under the premise that it was cleansing and would promote unity and all that.
Beto has a habit, wherever he’s making a speech, he jumps on the nearest desk or tabletop. If he’s in a diner he jumps on top of a table. If he’s in a classroom he jumps on a desk. And people have begun to analyze, why does this guy do this? Is it that he feels a need to tower over everybody? Does he have a god complex like Obama did with the speech reverberation? I don’t know.
But somebody made a parody Photoshop of this the other day with Beto during a Democrat debate standing on top of his podium. It’s gonna be interesting. What is he gonna step on during a debate? There isn’t gonna be any tabletops or desks. Anyway, this is Beto O’Rourke this morning in South Carolina explaining why he’s not gonna go to AIPAC.
O’ROURKE: I’m here in South Carolina, um. I’m here in front of people who will decide who the Democratic nominee is, uh, who will decide this next election, who will decide who will defeat President Trump and then bring this country together. Um, that’s the best way for me to spend this time.
RUSH: So I don’t need AIPAC and I don’t need Jewish voters, I don’t need any of that ’cause here in South Carolina with people who are gonna determine who the next president is. I don’t have time, I don’t have time to waste meeting with these Jewish Americans, these Jewish Democrats, these liberal Jewish Americans at AIPAC. I got better things to do.
Folks, I haven’t seen this reported. This has to be causing — Snerdley, correct me if I’m wrong on this. Maybe this has passed me by. But they have to be sweating bullets in the back rooms of the Democrat Party over this. You know how much money these people have traditionally donated? All of Hollywood, for crying out loud!
And individual they may not be devoted to Israel because Netanyahu is now the prime minister or president, but this is always what they’ve thought of Republicans. It’s another fascinating thing. This is what Omar and Beto here, all these 2020 Democrat presidential candidates slamming Israel, slamming AIPAC, slamming Jewish Democrats and so forth, this is what these people have always thought the Republicans were. And now it’s happening in their own party.
(interruption) They’re calling it what? Jexodus. I never heard of that. Well, Joe Lieberman is not happy about it. I heard Joe Lieberman. I read some things he said about it, and he knows this is not his Democrat Party.
Look I’m up against it.

RUSH: Hey, look at this. Just broke. Washington Free Beacon: “Democratic freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (Democrat-Minnesota) has been holding a series of secret fundraisers with groups that have been tied to the support of terrorism, appearances that have been closed to the press and hidden from public view.
Omar recently spoke in Florida at a private event hosted by Islamic Relief, a charity organization long said to have deep ties to groups that advocate terrorism against Israel.” Ilhan Omar. Washington Free Beacon. It just broke 47 minutes ago. We just got it. We’ll make sure we link to it at RushLimbaugh.com.
