RUSH: So this is kind of classic. We have Andrew McCabe and his new book. Now, this guy was one of the ringleaders of this coup to get rid of Donald Trump, and he’s got a new book out, and 60 Minutes is helping him push and promote the book, and he is bragging about this. He is bragging about his efforts to undermine and overthrow Trump. He’s admitting, essentially, that he and his buddies put in motion a silent coup to get rid of Donald Trump. He admits that the talk of wiring Rosenstein to entrap Trump in an Oval Office conversation was real.

Rosenstein and others have been laughing it off and denying it. But McCabe is out there admitting that it is all true. He says every day in the White House, even today, every day in the White House is a new low. It’s almost as though he wants great credit here for what he did. But in the process of bragging about this, we are learning his motivations.

The timing of this, however, could not be more delicious. And I haven’t seen anybody make this point yet. Now, I’m sure somebody has, do not misunderstand. I just haven’t seen it. Within the past week or two — now, people have made this point, don’t misunderstand, but connecting these two things I haven’t seen yet. Over the past two weeks it has been — and even longer than that — over the past two weeks it has been leaking very slowly, very surely, that the Mueller report isn’t gonna have anything about collusion with Russia in it. And actually these leaks began maybe more than a month ago.

There were the first reports of insiders saying, “You know, I wouldn’t expect much here.” That was one of the first leaks. “Don’t get your expectations up. Way too high.” Then the leaks continued along those lines. Then the most recent leaks, which were this week that Mueller may not even issue a report. And then Trump’s lead lawyer at the beginning of all this, John Dowd, said, “There isn’t gonna be a report. He’s got nothing. There isn’t anything in this.” To which we correctly replied what the purpose is. It’s gonna continue to provide a source for anonymous leaks.

Even if the report’s got nothing in it, the media from now through the 2020 election is gonna be acting like it does. They’re doing a 180 now. And they’re acting like, “Well, wait a minute. We never, ever, said that there was collusion.” They really are. They’re now starting to take the position, now that everybody knows that this report may not even be made public and that it does not have any evidence whatsoever of Trump-Russia collusion, there are elements of the media now saying, “Well, wait! We never said that there was!”

The term for this is gaslighting. They’re gaslighting us. They’re literally trying to make us believe that what we’ve thought for the past two years has been wrong, that they have not been pushing the collusion theory. I mean, it’s stunning to see this. And I will have examples of this as the program unfolds before your very eyes and ears today.

Here’s another report. This one is from the Drive-By Media. “Robert Mueller has spent two years investigating Trump, and he hasn’t said a word. It’s possible he never will. Justice Department rules require that Mueller submit a confidential report when his work is done.”

William Barr, the likely next attorney general, cast doubt on whether he would permit that document to be revealed during his confirmation hearings. Those who know Barr say that Mueller is unlikely to say anything about this report on his own.

John Pistole, Mueller’s longtime top deputy back at the FBI, quote, “A public narrative has built an expectation that the special counsel will explain his conclusions, but I think that expectation may be seriously misplaced. That’s not what the rules provide, and I really don’t see him straying from the mission. That’s not who he is.”

“A public narrative has built an expectation that the special counsel will explain his conclusions. But I think that expectation may be seriously misplaced. That’s not what the rules provide, and I really don’t see Mueller straying from the mission. That’s not who he is.” Oh, so now it’s not just Dowd saying we’re not gonna get a report. Now Mueller’s longtime top deputy at the FBI, John Pistole, is also saying, well, whoever thought there was gonna be a report? The rules don’t call for a report! Mueller’s not gonna break the rules! I wouldn’t look for a report!

Everybody’s now tamping down expectations. And there’s more and more. Now, the point of this, what a rotten time for McCabe’s book to hit! Here’s McCabe’s book bragging about and making the case for his silent coup to get rid of Trump. At the same time, the Mueller people are leaking they’ve got nothing.

In a decent and sane world, this would be so embarrassing to McCabe that he would be trying to hide right now. He would not be going on 60 Minutes and he would not be publicizing this book because anybody with any knowledge whatsoever of Mueller and his stupid investigation and his waste-of-time hoax is now leaking that there isn’t anything to report, that there’s nothing in it, that there’s no collusion with Trump-Russia. That the Trump Tower meeting was way overblown, nothing to see there, either.

And yet here comes good old Andy bragging about what he did to save America from the treacherous Donald Trump, the incompetent, the lazy, the profane Donald Trump. The lack of any substance from Mueller undercuts McCabe better than anything anybody could.

Here’s a story from The Federalist today by Adam Mill.  It’s a pseudonym. That’s not his real name.  He’s a practicing lawyer and other things in Kansas City.  “As the Russia Hoax Begins to Unravel, the Gaslighting Begins — The media has started backing away from the Russia collusion hoax. Many seem to know a reckoning is coming,” and then he uses an episode from the old Seinfeld series, the TV show, to draw an analogy.

“In episode 171 of Seinfeld, George Costanza makes up a story about having a house in the Hamptons in order to avoid attending an event with his dead fiancee’s parents, the Rosses. He soon learns they know [he has been lying to them] but the Rosses nevertheless accept an invitation to the fictitious house,” because they want to expose Costanza. So Costanza “picks them up and begins driving towards a house that doesn’t exist. Both the Rosses and George maintain the pretense until George drives to the end of island past the last house in the Hamptons,” and begs “for the Rosses to put an end to the charade.

“The lie’s momentum took on a life of its own as the players all continued acting their parts long after the truth was known.”   The analogy is that everybody involved in this — from the media, to Mueller, to all the investigators, to everybody involved in it — has known it was trumped up, has known it wasn’t true, has known they were running a hoax.  Everybody involved in it.  Now the day of reckoning is coming.  Now we’re getting to the point where Costanza/Mueller drives past the last house in the Hamptons and we find out that he doesn’t own a home there.

“The episode comes to mind as the media has started backing away from the Russia collusion hoax. Like Costanza, many of the media perpetrators seem to know a reckoning is coming. Politico warned [people], ‘Prepare for disappointment.'” We told you when that hit. There are links to them here in this story. “Mueller’s longtime top deputy at the FBI recently warned, ‘A public narrative has built an expectation that the special counsel will explain his conclusions, but I think that expectation may be seriously misplaced.'”

David Marcus. That’s the media guy. It was never about Russian collusion. What do you mean? (This is a media guy. This is the gaslighting. This is the reframe.)  It was never about Russia collusion.  What do you people think we’ve been…? (They’re now lying to our faces, telling us the Mueller investigation has never been about Russian-Trump collusion, because there isn’t any. So now they’re resetting the table.)

“[T]he Senate Judiciary Committee announced that after almost two years of investigation, it has uncovered no evidence [whatsoever] of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Attorneys assigned to the Mueller team have quietly begun to slip away before the outcome of the investigation is made public… The Russia hoax is crumbling and people can’t run away fast enough. We’ve seen signs from the very beginning that many of the people who promoted the Trump-Russia collusion smear have always known it was a hoax. These signs have been in plain sight. Here is an incomplete list…” In the midst of all of this…

In the midst of all the players knowing they found nothing, they’ve got nothing, there was nothing to find — that they have been running a hoax, that they’ve been running a silent coup –the damage that they have done to this country in the past two years is immeasurable, and there needs to be a brand-new special counsel impaneled to investigate everybody from Mueller and everybody on his team, to McCabe, to Comey, to Strzok, to Bruce Ohr, to every one of these people all the way up to Fusion GPS, the Perkins Coie law firm, Hillary Clinton, the Democrat National Committee, all the way up to Brennan and Clapper and maybe even Obama, because that’s the root of this.

It was a concerted effort to nullify and overturn the election results of 2016.  Look at the damage that has been done to this country because of what has been an out-and-out hoax — and in the midst of this revelation, here comes McCabe with his book bragging about what he did and why, and in the process, admitting they were using the 25th Amendment? They were trying to round up cabinet members to admit Trump was unsuited, psychologically ill-equipped, intellectually unprepared.  They wanted to wire Rosenstein and send him into the Oval Office to secretly record Trump so that they could amass proof that Trump was unqualified and unfit.

And McCabe is admitting to all this and wants applause and wants credit for it — and wants you to go buy his book!  Remember, this guy’s wife was running for office in the state of Virginia and was getting campaign money from Hillary Clinton!  The idea that they were trying to charge Donald Trump with treason? Not even charge, create innuendo! They were trying to create public opinion that Donald Trump had colluded, that he had hired prostitutes to urinate on a bed because Obama had slept on it in Moscow.

What about Clapper — and what about Brennan, who…? Whenever evidence has come out that Mueller has nothing and there’s nothing to this, Brennan especially starts attacking whoever says that. (summarized) “You just be patient. Just be patient. Just wait. Don’t confuse and don’t conflate obstruction with collusion.”  So now they’re gonna pivot and they’re gonna head straight for the obstruction aspect of this, since there never was any collusion.  This has never been the investigation of a crime.

It’s always been a counterintelligence investigation by design because there wasn’t a crime.  Counterintel investigations don’t look for crimes.  They don’t even look for evidence.  They come up with sources who are saying things and then analysts have to go check that out.  It’s not anything related to a criminal investigation.  That is what the American people have been led to believe has been going on.  You have 42% in this poll… I’ve never forgotten it and I never will: 42% of the American people, because of the last two years of this hoax, literally believe the Russians tampered with votes and affected the outcome of elections.

Forty-two percent of the American people believe this.  So now there is nothing.  Mueller’s not gonna even issue a report.  He’s not gonna say anything.  He doesn’t have anything.  At the same time, little Pencil Neck, Adam Schiff — so dissatisfied — has announced that they’re gonna ramp up investigations in the House that the Republicans when they ran the committees didn’t do thoroughly enough.  Now they’re gonna be looking at Trump’s money.  They’re gonna look at Trump’s tax returns.  They’re gonna look at Trump Organization’s 30 years of business practices.

They’re gonna look at it all, and they’ve got nothing — and in the midst of this, here comes old Andy McCabe with his book bragging about his actions.  We already know his motivations.  McCabe: “There were 25th Amendment discussions at the Department of Justice to remove Trump from office.”  The president has tweeted, “Many of the top FBI brass were fired, forced to leave, or left. McCabe’s wife received BIG DOLLARS from Clinton people for her campaign – he gave Hillary a pass.

“McCabe is a disgrace to the FBI and a disgrace to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”  Really, this is… It’s exactly what we’ve always known it was, folks.  Now, something has happened to cause them to have to admit this — and it’d be interesting speculation.  But this ought to have people angrier than they have been since Watergate, to whatever extent people were mad then.  This is one of the greatest travesties perpetrated on the American people in our lifetimes.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Stop and think about something, ladies and gentlemen.  How discombobulated must these people have been?  Let’s go to the DOJ/ FBI for a moment.  You have McCabe. You’ve got Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. You’ve got Comey. You’ve got Rod Rosenstein. You’ve got James Baker, who is one of the grand pooh-bahs in the justice department. These are all Obama people.  They literally are sitting around. We’ve just had an election.  The president was elected in duly constituted presidential election.  Donald Trump wins.

These people are sitting around literally conspiring on sending somebody to the Oval Office wearing a wire (in this case, Rosenstein, who would become deputy attorney general) hoping to entrap the duly elected president for the purposes of then taking whatever they think they had to cabinet members and saying, “See? This man is unfit.  We need your help in getting rid of this man using the 25th Amendment.”  Stop and think about that!

I mean, we hear about this happening, but we aren’t there.  So the impact on us in the midst of everything else that we’ve heard and learned, it’s just one of many items, and sometimes you lose the ability to be properly intellectually, emotionally impacted by this.  But stop and think of this.  The purpose here — and the people involved have already been involved in a two-year effort to make sure Trump did not win.  They have written a phony dossier.  They helped the Clinton campaign put it together.  They then take it to the FISA court.

They got permission to spy on the Trump administration.

They’ve had all kinds of efforts, engaged in all kinds of efforts, to get Donald Trump defeated and make sure he doesn’t win.  He wins.  And then after all of that, they are so discombobulated, so out of sorts, so unable to deal with it, they’re literally thinking about — in the United States of America — sending in a so-called decorated lawyer, highly respected DOJ member Rod Rosenstein to wear a wire, and there’s all kinds of people in this meeting who have verified this now.  Rosenstein said, “That was a joke.  It was never serious.”

Just stop and think about it for a few seconds, see how scary this is, and then realize that these are all people who worked for Barack Obama.

RUSH: And finally, NBC News now joins the parade. Remember, NBC News reported that the Senate Intelligence Committee a couple days ago had concluded after two years that there was no evidence, they hadn’t found a scintilla of evidence, collusion, Trump-Russia. But NBC didn’t report. They made mention. But they didn’t put it on the NBC Nightly News. They didn’t make a big deal out of it, the day after they initially just put that little slug line report.

Well, now, now NBC has Published a full-fledged story on their website dated today. And the headline is: “You May Be Disappointed By The Mueller Report.” You may be disappointed? Do you know what they’ve done? Do you know how many deranged Ocasio-Cortez types are lurking out there expecting Mueller to have this grand presentation with photos and wiretaps and who knows whatever other kind of evidence they’re expecting that proves Trump stole the election? Do you know what they’ve created?

Do you know how many deranged leftists, Twitter users, I’m talking anonymous leftist Democrat base voters that come in all shapes and sizes and IQs not to exceed 80, do you know how many of these people are waiting out there? The Ilhan Omars of the world, I don’t care, the members of Congress who literally expect a smoking gun silver bullet, whatever, that finally established — remember all these people in Congress trying to pass all this legislation saying that a Mueller report cannot be suppressed, that Mueller cannot be fired?

Remember all of these judges that go through their confirmations, “Are you gonna make sure that nothing happens to Mueller? Are you gonna make sure that Trump doesn’t do anything to Mueller’s investigation? Are you gonna promise us that Robert Mueller will be allowed to convict Donald Trump in the media?” All of this. And now Mueller and his team, some of them are leaving, now they’re starting to leak, “Don’t got anything, gang.”

This is why the gaslighting has begun. All of these people in the media now starting to do a little bit of a 180, “Well, we never said it was about collusion. We never said there was any.” They’re trying to convince people that they have not heard or read what they’ve heard or read the past two years.

Now, here is what I think is as important and relevant. I know that this has been a hoax from day one. Whenever day one of this investigation is, whenever these people got together and decided that Donald Trump was not gonna be president, whenever that was, 2015, 2016, all the way up to and including the Mueller investigation, I firmly believe that everybody in the media has known from the get-go that none of this was true. There may be some exceptions in outlier media, but in terms of the Washington-New York corridor media, every damned one of them, everybody you see on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, New York Times, Washington, every damned one of them commenting in it, analyzing on it, has known from the get-go that there wasn’t any collusion.

I do maintain that they have been in on this because they’d have to be blind not to know the origins of it. They know from the get-go that the dossier was bogus! And yet they were looking for any which way they could to publish it. They knew it was a series of lies. They knew it was a bunch of garbage strung together. They knew it had been used as phony intelligence to get warrants to spy. They knew all of this. The media has been as active a player in this as Mueller!

John Brennan, Obama’s CIA director just yesterday said that the proof of collusion is in plain site. This is after all these people on the Mueller side are beginning to leak, “You better need to lower your expectations. Mueller may not even issue a report. There isn’t any collusion and the Senate Intelligence Committee report that there isn’t any –“ And Brennan comes out and said the proof of collusion is in plain sight.

And you know the proof he cited? Trump asking Russia to find Hillary’s emails. That has been his go-to event to prove Trump-Russia collusion. Trump telling a joke. Trump mocking people like Brennan. The media has been in on this 25th Amendment business. The media has been part of this hoax from the get-go.

The media has not been a collection of journalists with their noses pressed to the glass and their ears to the ground trying to hear anything, trying to learn anything that would give them some indication of what is being learned in the investigation.

They were having it leaked to them all along as part of the effort to defame and slander and impugn Donald Trump, to hopefully drive his approval numbers down low enough that he could be forced out of office. While at the same time conjuring the possibility of sending Rosenstein to the Oval Office wired up hoping to catch Trump say something so outrageous he could present it to the cabinet and the cabinet would agree this guy’s unfit, unqualified, he’s gotta go.

The American people, you know, all these warnings like NBC, “You may be disappointed by the Mueller report.” So the American public are supposed to be disappointed to hear that Trump didn’t collude with Russia? Is that what we’re supposed to take? What hubris! What arrogance! NBC: You may be disappointed by Mueller report. You might be disappointed there’s no evidence Trump colluded with Russia.

The American public is supposed to be disappointed? The American public are supposed to be unhappy? The American people supposed to be sad that their president didn’t collude with Russia and steal the election? Do these people even realize in the media how they are perceived now and how they are reporting on this is categorizing them and shading them?

If there’s anything that is Russian in all of this, it’s all of these people in a room, the FBI and the DOJ, talking about wearing a wire and going into the Oval Office and secretly entrapping the president of the United States. That’s the kind of stuff that does happen in Russia and did happen in the Soviet Union and look where it was happening here. Not in the Trump administration. Not with Donald Trump, not with Donald Trump Jr., not with any of the people up there, not with Manafort, not with Sessions, not with Rick Gates.

No, no. Obama DOJ people were acting like what happens in the Politburo in Russia. And now we’re supposed to be sad, we’re supposed to be disappointed that the president didn’t collude. We’re supposed to be frustrated that Mueller didn’t find anything.

Well, again, they give up the ghost because there will be people disappointed their president didn’t collude. There will be people disappointed that no evidence was found that Trump stole the election, and that’s this deranged bunch of people popularly known as the Democrat base. They will be disappointed because they weren’t in on the hoax.

They were the victims. They were the targets. They’re the ones, the media and Mueller and the rest of these so-called people filled with more integrity than anybody in Washington ever has, these are the people who are the victims of this hoax, is whole bunch of Democrat voters unstable to begin with who have been led to believe that they got cheated by Donald Trump and the Russians.

So, yeah, they’re gonna be disappointed. If I’m the Secret Service and if I’m the American security apparatus, I’ve gotta start ratcheting things up because this, I think, is one of the reasons they’re trickling this out, to try to lessen the emotional impact on all these news consumers of mainstream media who have been force-fed lie after lie after lie, whose expectations have been built up beyond any of our ability to imagine that they’re gonna get their president thrown in jail.

And they’re gonna have to now deal with the fact that there has never been any evidence. That is why the gaslighting. That is why the media’s now starting, “We never said, we never told you that there was collusion with Russia. That’s never been the point of this. It’s always just been an investigation. We never confirmed.” They’re backtracking here. They’re backpedaling faster than Deion Sanders in his prime.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, one of the crazier things that McCabe told Scott Pelley in the 60 Minutes interview — especially now that we know that there’s no evidence of any collusion — is when McCabe explained why he hurriedly launched the Trump-Russia probe.  Quote, “I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground in an indelible fashion that were I removed quickly or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.”  What solid ground?  There never has been any solid ground!

The Trump dossier? Papadopoulos?  What’s solid ground? Listen to this: “I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground in an indelible fashion that were I removed quickly or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed…”  There is an alternate possibility here, and it is that McCabe is lying through his teeth in this book just to sell books, that McCabe knows what they’ve created out there in the Democrat base.

He knows the expectations they have raised.  He is fully aware of what these deranged leftists — including a lot of elected Democrats — have been expecting from the Mueller report.  And McCabe might… His book… He had to write this book months ago. It had to be at the publisher at least six weeks ago.  But he could have been aware that… He’s known all along there was nothing there.  This is the thing.  McCabe has known there was nothing there.  He’s part of the people manufacturing this whole thing.

He’s known there’s nothing.  He writes this book.  Did McCabe know that the day this book is gonna start being promoted is right in the middle of the mainstream Washington establishment now trying to lower expectations on the Mueller report?  Did he know that or not?  Did he take into account the possibility?  It could well be that there was no serious attempt to wire Rosenstein and send him up to Trump.

McCabe is just putting that and stuff like it in the book to sell it because he knows there’s enough lunatics out there that want it to be true.  But then he faces the prospect of being challenged on all this stuff.  So I… These are sick people, folks.  These are really, really — and I mean, I’m not just throwing it off as a casual qualifier.  This is genuine sickness here.  It is born of the arrogance of assumed never-ending power, of supremacy and superiority.  There’s nothing American about this.  The founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves, for example.

That’s my test on things like that.  “The people who founded our country and government, how would they react to this?”  This would repulse them.  This is the exact kind of thing they wrote the Bill of Rights to prevent.  This is the exact kind of thing the Founding Fathers were afraid was gonna happen, ’cause they understood human nature when it comes to power.

Let me get started on the phones.  People want to weigh in.  We’re gonna go Dallas.  This is Barbara, and I’m glad you called.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi! Thank you so much for taking my call.  I am a longtime listener, first-time caller, and I’m so excited to get to talk to you.  So in your first segment, you referenced that the Russian — and I’m using my air quotes — investigation did damage to our country.  I’m sure that you’ll be able to, you know, count the so many ways.  I was wondering if you thought the Democrats winning the House as one of those damages to the country on your list.

RUSH:  No question about it.  In a broad-based sense, absolutely.  Think about it now.  You have two years leading up to these elections.  You have two years of every day, in every leading mainstream media outlet: New York Times, Washington Post, NBC, CBS, ABC — throw CNN in there ’cause people see ’em in the airport. Every day, five times a day, there were never-ending stories: “Trump colluded with Russia! Trump stole the election! The Russians helped Trump! The Russians wanted Trump to win! The Russians didn’t want Hillary to win.”

You couple that with all of the other leaks and rumors about what was going on in the Trump White House: All the incompetence, all of the mischaracterizations of the travel bans, all these put-together protests.  There’s no question in my mind that all of this put together had to have had an impact on voters.  Now, you’d have to go district by district and try to link various things in the media to particular elections.  But the damage to the country that I was referring to… Elections go back and forth, they boomerang, and there’s many variables involved.

But damage to the country I’m talking about is the overall American psyche.  The overall impression the American people have of their current president that he’s illegitimate, that he cheated, that he stole it, that he’s a Russian agent, that he’s Putin’s poo-boy, that he’s unqualified and incompetent and doesn’t know what he’s doing?  That doesn’t rattle the Trump base.  But not everybody in America voted for Trump.  This stuff can’t help but have an impact, and it’s going to continue.  The fact that there is no Mueller report will simply continue media leaks.

They’re setting the stage for it now.  NBC: “You May Be Disappointed by the Mueller Report.”  Yeah, your expectations? You may have to lower them.  All of this stuff is true.  Mueller may not even issue a report — and then, as we get closer to 2020, guess what?  Certain media people will say they have seen copies of the report, or they have seen segments and sections of the report, and they can leak what it says — and then the question is: Why didn’t Mueller release this?

Folks, we’re by no means at the end of this.  This is just gonna continue the kind of media malpractice and inside-the-Washington Beltway establishment nefariousness that’s been going on since 2016.

RUSH: And Fort Hood, Texas, up next. This is Joe as we head back to the phones. Thank you for waiting, hi.

CALLER: Hello there, Mr. Rush.

RUSH: Hey.

CALLER: Greetings from Texas.

RUSH: Thank you, Mr. Joe. What’s happening?

CALLER: Well, you know, while I’ve been listening my focus kind of shifted a little bit, but my original comments were about, you know, Pelosi doing the same old tricks that were done with Obamacare, you know, wait ’til the very last minute, stall and stall to the last minute, and then come up and say, “Well, we have to sign it to see what’s in it,” again.

RUSH: Yeah. Yeah.

CALLER: Just like Obamacare. But what I’ve kind of noticed as you’ve been talking is about all the stuff going against Trump. He does, I believe, have an option of turning the tables on them. Now that Mueller has virtually cleared him without, you know, not saying that all the innuendos will still come out, but he’s virtually been legally cleared.

RUSH: No, he hasn’t.

CALLER: Well —

RUSH: No.

CALLER: You know, legal leaders are saying all they have left is innuendo. Well, this could be here, this could be there. But if he was to form a presidential commission on political corruption to investigate Congress and the DOJ and all the goings-on because there is evidence of all kinds of corruption in there. That would shift everybody’s focus.

RUSH: Yeah, yeah. But the president cannot investigate Congress. The separation of powers. They have oversight. This is constitutional. They have oversight of the executive branch. He can’t so much as go there without their request and invitation. He cannot investigate ’em. They investigate themselves. Pure and simple. What he can do — and I agree with you a hundred percent and I mentioned it earlier — it is time to impanel a legitimate special counsel to look at Robert Mueller and Andrew Weissmann and McCabe and Comey and Rosenstein and Clapper and Brennan and Hillary and everybody involved, Bruce Ohr, Nellie Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Fusion GPS.

It is time for a legitimate investigation into just what the hell has been going on the last two years. There is no doubt in my mind — I have been asking ever since — this is for a long time, since I have known in my bones instinctively that this thing has been a hoax, that there wasn’t any Russian collusion and that they knew it. What’s gonna happen to the people who have gotten away with this? This has been a silent coup, folks. This has been an attempt to run a duly elected president out of office.

We know who the players are. They’re bragging about it. McCabe’s got this book out where he’s bragging about the steps that he took and confirming that they were legitimately thinking of wiring Rosenstein to go into the Oval Office and to entrap Trump into saying something that they could then play for the cabinet that would force the cabinet to suggest Trump leave, 25th Amendment, you’re not fit, sir, you’re a little deranged, this is not what everybody had in mind, see you later, sayonara.

This needs to be investigated and these people need to be identified, what they did needs to be identified, and there needs to be punishment, there needs to be accountability. We can’t just go, “Oh ho hum, Mueller didn’t find anything,” and move on. That’s what everybody’s gonna want to do, but we can’t. There was never anything to find. All there was — and it’s still ongoing — a never-ending investigation where they could invent crimes or create crimes or entrap people into committing crimes as part of the investigation, process crimes, which is all they’ve done.

They got Manafort who’s fading away and dying in solitary confinement in prison. Even Jeffrey Toobin at CNN remarked on how frail this guy looked and said this is not right what’s happening to this guy. All of these people, it’s just, “Well, we didn’t find anything,” as though this is some kind of a legitimate investigation. Never has been legitimate. And Trump does need to appoint a commission or special counsel to look into this. And not for the politics of it but for the absolute unconstitutionality and illegality of it. People need to be held accountable for what they’ve done here.

RUSH: It’s Cliff in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Great to have you, Cliff. Hi.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. How you doing? It’s a great day. We’re winning.

RUSH: Well, it’s great to have you here, Cliff. Thank you for calling.

CALLER: I just wanted to say, you’ve been right all along. This whole thing with the Russia probe has all been about smearing Trump and they’re gonna have a bunch of people gonna go to their graves believing in that nonsense. And my one question is, when do you think somebody’s gonna be prosecuted over this? I mean, McCabe has stuck his neck out there with his book, I would say.

RUSH: I think that these people constructed the Mueller investigation as a cover-up of what they have done. I think that was its express purpose. It was a gigantic distraction. It was two-pronged. It was to get rid of Trump. It was to create public opinion that Trump is illegitimate, illegal, unseemly, unfit, while distracting everybody from what really happened. I don’t think these people ever thought that they would be prosecuted or caught, but I think that that’s largely what the backup plan was. And it’s gonna require an investigation by the Department of Justice of itself to find out what went on here.

RUSH: Here’s another way of making the point. You remember all through the campaign at the Trump rallies, all those people shouting “Lock her up. Lock her up,” and even Trump was alluding to it now and then. I actually think that all of these people from Hillary to McCabe to Strzok Smirk, all these people, Comey, I think they actually took all that to heart. I think they were deathly afraid that a bunch of them could be locked up if it were ever discovered what they had done.

And this whole Russian collusion probe was all about keeping Trump from locking all of them up. Nobody will ever persuade me that all the many things this was, it was in part a cover-up and a diversion, distraction from what these people had been doing literally since 2016.
