RUSH: Have you heard about this from Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii? “Sen. Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii) said Tuesday that Democrats have a hard time connecting with voters because they ‘know so much’ and need to tell people ‘how smart’ they are.”
Mazie Hirono made the remarks while answering a question from a journalist, Dahlia Lithwick at the Bend Towards Justice conference in Washington. The Bend Towards Justice conference. I wonder what they are bending toward, Mr. Snerdley. Anyway, she got a question at this conference in Washington about what Democrats need to do to make their voters care more about the judicial system. What? Democrat voters don’t care about the — okay.
Well, she said, “One of the things that we Democrats have a really hard time is connecting to people’s hearts instead of here.” And she pointed at her head. “We’re really good at shoving out all the information that touch people here, but not here. I have been saying at all of our Democratic Senate retreats that we need to speak to the heart, not in a manipulative way, not in a way that brings forth everyone’s fears and resentments, but truly to speak to the heart,” because people can’t keep up with us in our heads.
So, you see, they are smarter, they know more stuff, they make better decisions. The rest of us are just a big basket of stupid deplorables that do not understand what the Democrats are saying. Now, this is the same senator, Mazie Hirono, who said that Brett Kavanaugh was not entitled to a presumption of innocence because he was not a liberal judge.
The same senator who told men to shut up and step up when it came to Kavanaugh’s sexual assault accusation. What the Democrats have a hard time connecting with is due process and fairness. Democrats are arrogant and condescending. And, by the way, it’s an observation, not an opinion, but it could go both ways.
