RUSH: Here’s Annie in Sarasota, Florida, as we start on the phones. It’s great to have you. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Hey, real quick, I’m a middle-aged conservative woman who’s listened to you for many, many years. I’ve grown old with you and I just want you to know my husband tried to talk sense into me about how crazy the world is with liberalism and the media, and I got scared. But I put you on and you deal with absolutes and truth, and you give me peace, and I’m not scared anymore. And I want to thank you for that.

RUSH: Well! That —

CALLER: Thank you.

RUSH: I appreciate that. I do. ‘Cause, you know, it is scary every day.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: The news is a constant bombardment of the negative. And with as prevalent as news — quote-unquote, “news” — is today, we hear about every wart in this country. We hear about every act of aberrant behavior. We hear about every weird thing going on. And we all tell ourselves, “My God, it’s never been this bad!” In certain places, that may be the case. But, folks, people are people. Humanity has been depraved and perverted since the beginning days of humanity. It’s just that for many, many, many, many millennium the mass population didn’t know of all of these details.

I think social media and the internet have put an additional challenge and test on people, because literally we used to not hear about all these acts of depravity and things going on. Now we hear about it all. And it does, in comparison, sometimes seem like, “We’re losing everything. We’re going to hell in a handbasket, and there’s a shortage of handbaskets. We’re just going straight there,” when in fact things may not be, in a general sense, any different than they’ve always been. Politically is a different thing, I’ll acknowledge, the ebbs and flows there.

But even with that, America survives, and we will continue to.
