RUSH: Here’s Michael in Broward County, Florida. It’s great to have you on the EIB Network and Open Line Friday. Hi.
CALLER: Hi. What a privilege it is to finally get through to you.
RUSH: Well, I’m glad you did.
CALLER: I am too. I wanted to talk to you about a couple different things, and I’ll make it as quick as possible ’cause I’m very busy today. One was that Kavanaugh hearing really sent me over the edge. I’ve been a union member, Teamsters and ATU for over 30 years, and I got out of the union because I don’t want one penny of my money ever going to the Democrats again.
RUSH: When did you get out?
CALLER: Just this last month here, I withdrew from the ATU.
RUSH: Really, so it was the Kavanaugh thing that finally pushed you over the edge?
CALLER: Yes. That was the Democrats, their behavior. And I’ve always been nonparty affiliated my whole entire voting life. I’m 55, and I vote in every election. Trump was the first person I ever voted for that got elected. I’ve always kind of gone with the underdogs, the ones that… The long shot. And —
RUSH: Well, that had to feel pretty good. You stop and think of people, all the times they voted and maybe voted for someone that’s never won. That could be kind of a downer. I hadn’t thought of it that way. My candidates usually always do win. But this is the first time you voted for somebody who did?
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: That’s awesome.
CALLER: Yes. And —
RUSH: Really makes you want to keep doing it; right?
CALLER: Yeah. Well, like I said, this coming election I plan to vote all Republican and I’m thinking of becoming a Republican because of Trump and you!
RUSH: Aw, that’s great.
CALLER: One other thing I wanted to talk to you quickly here, Andrew Gillum. You know, I was noticing in the polls here that he was not up in front ’til like the very last. And I was almost wondering if it was the Democrats trying to do with their identity politics and conspiring to put the guy that they think that, well, he’s a black man and we have a lot of blacks in Florida; so maybe we should put him up here ’cause he’s got a better chance of voting. And I’m surprised I never heard you discuss that.
RUSH: Well, I have to admit, the Andrew Gillum kind of showed up late on my radar. You know, I am a nationally focused political analyst and media star. And he came upon my radar very late. You could be right that that was the strategy of the Democrat Party in nominating the guy, but he still had to go out there and win it and so forth. But the idea that they play identity politics is entirely, entirely possible.
