RUSH: I want to go back to March 26, 2014, in Brussels. After the European Union-U.S. summit, President Obama spoke about Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Now, I recall that we had a deal with Crimea that we had promised… We basically engineered a disarm deal with Crimea so that they would be less provocative to European nations, and in exchange for them disarming, we pledged to defend ’em against any aggression. Well, here comes Putin aggressing all over Crimea and we didn’t do diddly-squat. Here’s Barack Hussein O talking about it. Remember, now, Christiane Amanpour said that Obama was standing up to Putin, whereas Trump is in bed with Putin and all this kind of stuff.

Listen to this bite and see if this sounds like Obama standing up to Putin.

OBAMA: Crimea is not a member of NATO in part of because of its close and complex history with Russia. Nor will Russia be dislodged from Crimea or deterred from further escalation by military force. Understand as well, this is not another Cold War that we’re entering into. The United States and NATO do not seek any conflict with Russia.

RUSH: Well, that’s why NATO exists, to stop Russia from doing things like that — things like this — and they didn’t. Here’s what Obama said (summarized), “Yeah, that’s right. They don’t qualify for membership in NATO. They got too complex a history with Russia — and everybody knows we’re not gonna kick Russia out of Crimea, military force. We’re not starting another Cold War. United States and NATO don’t seek any conflict with Russia, so if Russia wants to own Crimea, then that’s the way it is.” And that’s the way it’s been.
