RUSH: President Trump today was addressing a group called Face-to-Face With Our Future. It’s an event that I guess — I don’t know if it’s exclusive to Trump or if it’s an annual thing. But it was across the street from the West Wing at the OEO, the Old Executive Office Building, now called the Eisenhower office building. And these are young people, Millennials, and Face-to-Face With Our Future is exactly that. And here we have two sound bites of the president and what he said to them.

THE PRESIDENT: You’re in the prime of your life — actually most of you aren’t even in the prime of your life. You’ll be in the prime of your life in about 15 years. I’m gonna make it as long as possible. But you’re doing a fantastic job, and your life has been a truly exciting one. Our economy is booming, confidence is soaring, and there’s never been a better time to be young and to be American. Never been a better time. The opportunity now is incredible. Unemployment for people under the age of 24 is the lowest in almost 50 years. Think of that.

RUSH: Earlier today — and I didn’t know that it would matter, so I didn’t bother printing it out. I was looking for a specific piece in The Hill, which, of course, I found. It’s coming up in moments. But while I was there looking, I ran into some piece that honestly said, “Following your passions is not the best advice for future employment and job opportunity.” I looked at that. Following your passions is not the best advice? Following your passion could be bad advice? So I had to read it. But I didn’t need to read it. I knew what the answer was gonna be.

Following your passions is selfish. Following what you want to do is selfish. You need to ascertain what your country needs. You need to ascertain the services and the cultural needs that your fellow citizens need and endeavor to find a way to provide them. Following your passions is selfish. I didn’t even think I’d have a reason to mention that today, until I read the transcript for this sound bite.

THE PRESIDENT: As you continue to develop your talents and to make your mark upon the world, remember that nothing worth doing is ever easy. You’ll have bad moments. You gotta love what you’re doing. And if you don’t, just do something else. Especially at your age. You have to love what you’re doing. You gotta love it. If you don’t love it, it’s not gonna happen.

You have to follow your passion. You have to do what you want to do. This is your big time, you’re most wanted, everybody wants you, you’re young, you’re smart, you’re brilliant. It’s a very important time for you. Keep working with your classmates and your friends. Keep loving your country. And one of the most important things: Never, ever quit. Never quit.

RUSH: Here’s a guy who’s done it, private sector, one of the most successful and achieved citizens to ever be president. And he’s sharing what he’s learned with them, showing them respect. And, you know, a lot of people, even at college commemorates, “Yeah, you’re the future. But not yet because we’re not gonna just turn it over to you. You’re gonna have to come take it away from us. The world doesn’t resolve around you like everybody thinks.”

But Trump is here telling them, everybody wants you. This is your time. You are most wanted right now. And he’s right about that. There’s nothing like youth when it comes to enthusiasm and energy and the period of your life where you haven’t become jaundiced to everything. So this is great, inspiring stuff, great motivational stuff. That was not delivered rah-rah. This was obviously from the president’s heart; he’s very serious about it and it’s, above all things, upbeat and positive. So I wanted to share that with you.
