RUSH: There is a development here that is typical of events like this. Whenever the media creates a crisis — and if they do it well enough that it looks like the nation is outraged — then American corporations get in on the action as fast as they can. Now, usually this manifests as corporations ending advertising on conservative Fox, right? That’s what usually happens.

Corporations are eager. They misjudge. They watch the media; they think the entire nation’s outraged over something. So they get into gear trying to glom on to it and to get some winning PR buzz and of course increase their business. I want to read to you a statement from an American company CEO. Are you ready? Ahem. “At United Airlines, we have been concerned about reports that commercial airlines have been used to transport immigrant children separated from their parents by a newly implemented immigration enforcement policy.”

There’s nothing new about it, Mr. CEO. (sigh) This… I tell you, this gets so frustrating. I don’t… It’s gotta be frustrating for you to keep hearing this stuff, knowing full well that these people are either lying or don’t know what they’re talking about. “At United Airlines, we have been concerned about reports that commercial airlines have been used to transport immigrant children separated from their parents by a newly implemented immigration enforcement policy.

“Based on some research we [at United Airlines] have done internally and public reports, we have not seen evidence these children have been flown on United aircraft. Based on our serious concerns about this policy and how it’s in deep conflict with our company’s values, we have contacted federal officials to inform them that they should not transport immigrant children on United aircraft who have been separated from their parents.”

Wait, United aircraft has parents? Uh… “[W]e have contacted federal officials to inform them that they should not transport immigrant children on United aircraft who have been separated from their parents.” Who knew that aircraft had kids? This is a new one! Of course, I’m making fun of the composition here. But it’s typical too. Let’s see here. “[W]e have contacted federal officials to inform them that they should not transport” on United aircraft “immigrant children … who have been separated from their parents.”

That’s how it should have been written.

See, I didn’t go to college, and I know how to write this. The way they wrote it is, “[W]e have contacted federal officials to inform them that they should not transport immigrant children on United aircraft who have been separated from their parents.” No. “[W]e have contacted federal officials to inform them that they should not” use United aircraft to “transport immigrant children … who have been separated from their parents.” That’s what the guy means. “Our company’s shared purpose is to connect people and unite the world.

United Airlines. Unite the world. “This policy and its impact on thousands of children is in deep conflict with that mission and we want no part of it.” Despite any evidence! There’s no evidence that United is being used. By the way, how are we using airliners to transport children separated from their parents? I know United are the guys that separated the doctor from his seat. They dragged him off the plane and all that. (interruption) I could have made that comment, I could have made. Okay, you want me to make it a comment?

They’ll drag you out of the plane and they’ll beat you up if they need your seat. But they will also put up a giant ad to address something that hasn’t even happened, i.e., they admit that there’s no evidence that anybody has flown on United aircraft involved in this issue. Anyway, corporate America, when they sense that the whole nation is outraged, they gotta get in on the action. And they misjudge. The whole nation is not outraged by this. But it is what it is.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You know, actually, folks, I want to give some kudos to United Airlines. I did just a little research ’cause I’m good at it, quick at it. I did it here in the break. I found out that these kids who are separated from their parents… I knew they were being sent to supposed relatives or sponsors. They’re Democrats participating in this is what they are within the U.S. But I didn’t stop to think that some of them would have been flown, which was just shortsighted of me.

I’m thinking buses and the Democrat sponsors showing up in cars and picking ’em up. So it’s actually good to know that United Airlines is refusing to help the children separated from their parents being flown to responses around the country. It’s good to know. I don’t think the United CEO intended it that way, but that’s a way to look at it. (interruption) Well, you can’t… You can’t put them in the overhead luggage. No, no, no, no. Don’t do that. You put ’em in first class or business class.
