The Limbaugh School Safety Solution

by Rush Limbaugh - Feb 19,2018

RUSH: Here’s Barry in Windsor, Ohio. I’m glad you called, sir. How are you doing?

CALLER: Oh, great, Rush. What a great honor it is to talk to you.

RUSH: I appreciate that. I’m glad you made it through.

CALLER: I am too. Hey, you know, in this country, we guard, you know, our money, our courthouses, you made all these spot-on points, especially sporting events, we guard them with armed security. Why can’t we do that with our kids, Rush? We’re paying these high sporting event ticket prices to —

RUSH: I know. I made this point last week. I made this point yesterday on the TV show. We have armed security at every public entity that you can think of. We have it at sporting events. We have it at airports. We have it wherever. We have armed security. We have metal detectors. We have any number of things, because we know that these places are likely —

CALLER: Targets.

RUSH: Well, exactly. They’re likely targets because they have been in the past. But, for some reason, when you get to schools, because there are children in there, Barry, there’s children in there, and we can’t have weapons in the schools. Oh, that’s horrible, that’s like admitting defeat. We can’t do that. It’s because of the children. And it’s absurd. This is why the — you know, the concealed carry idea — I’m calling it the Limbaugh School Safety Solution, and I’m expecting a lot of people to be signing on to it as time goes on. It’s the only thing that makes any sense, especially if it works in other places like you are discussing here.

CALLER: Instead of paying these high prices to athletes, half of which hate us — I won’t say half, but a fraction of them hate this country, let’s give them to the real heroes in this country and that’s ex-law enforcement and ex-military, they’re trained in weaponry and would be more than happy to protect our kids, Rush.

RUSH: Yeah. I know. It doesn’t make any sense. The only argument against it is that — I think what they believe is that to do so would be admitting defeat in a sense, which is, again, the point that I’m trying to make. Look, it’s a very cold and stark reality to state it. But this is what our country has become.

Now, you can like it or not, and you can wish it weren’t so, and you can hope that Congress could pass a law or that we could kick the NRA’s butt or do something. But all that’s just wishful thinking, pipe dreams. That’s just dreaming. It is a reality that we don’t want to face.

We have permitted somehow our schools to become targets, and we’re not protecting them because it would be a capitulation I think people think. And it’s a mistake. It’s the solution. But I don’t mean everybody and the students carrying and every teacher. You don’t need that. You just need a deterrent.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Some third graders in Missouri are selling raffle tickets for an AR-15 rifle. The raffle began before the shooting in Florida. Some third graders trying to raise money. Selling an AR-15.
