RUSH: “Dems: Bill Clinton Too Toxic To Campaign In Midterms — One of the party’s top surrogates has been effectively sidelined by the #metoo movement.” This is a story in Politico. “Democrats are looking to embrace the #MeToo moment and rally women to push back on President Donald Trump in the midterms — and they don’t want Bill Clinton anywhere near it.

“In a year when the party is deploying all their other big guns and trying to appeal to precisely the kind of voters Clinton has consistently won over, an array of Democrats told POLITICO they’re keeping him on the bench. They don’t want to be seen anywhere near a man with a history of harassment allegations.” They want him nowhere near any midterm campaign. And they don’t want to see Franken there, either. That’s an aspect of this story too. Did you ever think, this is the guy, they made him the big kahuna of the Democrat Party despite all this. They made him a big star.

Now, on a related story, the Drive-Bys can’t get enough of this one either today. This stuff makes me laugh. When the Access Hollywood video came out, I was not one of the people wringing my hands and going, “Oh, no, it’s over.” Quite the opposite. I thought Trump could easily survive it. It’s the only time I called the campaign to tell ’em what I thought they should do.

We now have Stormy Daniels back in the scene. Stormy Daniels is the reputed porn star, is that what she supposedly — Stormy Daniels has got a tour. And she’s calling it the Make America Horny Again Tour. And she goes out to strip clubs and performs. And it’s apparently a very popular show out there. And it has been learned that President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, paid her $130,000 in 2016. He made a payment and addressed it to her. She’s a former — I should say former pornography film star.

Stephanie Clifford’s her name, but she goes by the name Stormy Daniels. And Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, said that the payment to Stormy Daniels, who had claimed that she had an affair with Trump soon after Melania had given birth to Barron, he said the payment came straight from him. It wasn’t from Trump. He paid her, and it did not come out of any campaign fund, it didn’t come out of any Trump account.

It was strictly a payment made to the woman by the lawyer. And it’s in an effort, I think, to show that the payment was legal. He made it clear, Cohen did, Trump’s lawyer, that the Trump campaign was not involved in the transaction.

Now, the timing of this is crazy because she’s out there saying that they didn’t do anything, right? She’s out there saying that they didn’t do anything. She showed up on Kimmel — or was supposed to show up on Kimmel — and read a statement that nothing ever happened. Now it’s been learned that she was paid this $130,000. So now the press is trying to say that this is ultimately gonna get Trump. Trump is ultimately culpable because nobody…

There isn’t a person alive who knows a lawyer that spends his own money for anything, including paper clips. There is simply no way. That’s what the press is saying. There’s a no way. Lawyers do not spend their own money. They spend yours. Everything’s a billable hour. So they’re trying to say this was hush money, that Trump probably did have a tryst with this babe. The story’s probably true, even though she has denied it.

They’re now speculating there’s a nondisclosure agreement, which is why she’s denying it, that it paid $130,000. They’re just all over this. What are the odds this is gonna work, double-teaming Trump with this and the Rob Porter thing? And I have to ask… I had the same reaction I had when the Access Hollywood video hit. Remember that hit in October. I think the exact… I could be wrong, but I think was the 15th or 16th.

It was in the middle of the month, and I remember my exact reaction when that thing had it hit. I said, “The American people are fed up with this.” I said, “At least I know the voters on our side are. They know. They’re sophisticated. They know what an October Surprise is. They know this thing is old. They know it’s been held and they’ve been waiting for strategic release, and people on our side are fed up and tired of this kind of stuff determining the outcome of elections,” because this was years old.

I have to think this same stuff. I mean, the media gets into this overkill, and they won’t let it go. They’re into a week now on this Porter stuff. The guy’s gone. The right thing has happened. But they can’t forget the process. They’re absorbed with the process, and they want to be able to report a story that Trump nor Kelly wanted Porter to leave, that if they had their druthers, Porter would still be there abusing and harassing whoever he wanted.

That’s the narrative. That’s what they’re trying to make people believe, and they’re even telling stories about how Trump remarked when he first heard about this that he didn’t think it was a big deal. That’s not true! When Trump first heard about this, his reaction was, “This guy’s one sick puppy.”
