RUSH: Last Thursday, a caller asked if I believed the polls that show 80% of Americans are in favor of fixing DACA. That’s the Obama program giving amnesty to the children of illegal aliens.

Now, my short answer is: Why would you believe anything in the Drive-By Media, especially right now?

Let me give you an illustration: Election Night 2016. When it became clear that Trump was going to win, the Dow Jones futures market reacted by dropping 750 points. New York Times opinion writer and economist Paul Krugman predicted something:

“It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging … If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is: never.”

But he wasn’t through. Krugman went further: “We are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight,” he said. “I suppose we could get lucky somehow. But on economics, as on everything else, a terrible thing has just happened.”

Last Thursday — after the caller asked me if I believed Drive-By Media polls — the Dow Jones topped 25000 for the first time ever. The New York Times headline? “After Dow 25000, the Party Has to End.”

So no. I don’t believe the Drive-Bys. I don’t believe their polls. I never have and I really don’t want to ever again. Just ignore ’em, folks. You’ll be happier!
