RUSH: Apple had their big iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus event this past Tuesday, and many people know that I am an Apple aficionado on their tech stuff, not their politics, and that I am an expert. And so I got people left and right asking me, “When is this iPhone X gonna be available?” ‘Cause you know, the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, they went on pre-order last night at midnight Pacific, 3 a.m. Eastern. But the iPhone X, which is the state-of-the-art all screen — and, by the way, I don’t care about the notch. Tech bloggers are going nuts about the notch. I couldn’t care less.

The phone overall is too small for me. It’s not much bigger than an iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 or iPhone 6. That’s tiny for me. I don’t care if it is all screen. It’s not as big as the Plus screens ’cause it’s not as wide. But it’s all personal preference. Anyway, the iPhone X is not gonna go on order until October 27th and is not gonna supposedly start shipping until November 3rd. So people have been asking me, “Are you gonna get one?” Well, yes, of course, but this is the first year that I’m not dying to have it.

People have been asking, “Why are they waiting?” Well, there’s a bunch of things. Let me cut to the chase on this. I have told people — I have a couple guys in Phoenix who think I hung the moon, whatever I say. So they ask me every time there’s Apple news, “What do you think? What do you think? What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do?”

And I said, “I’ll get an iPhone X and it’ll probably deliver next May.”

“You’re kidding!”

“No, I’m not kidding. I think this thing’s gonna be back ordered practically until the iPhone X ‘two’ comes out.”

“Really?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Why do you think that?”

For a whole bunch of reasons. They have to sell the iPhone 8 as well, folks. One reason the iPhone X is delayed, there are other legitimate reasons for it to. It’s state-of-the-art, the technology. They can’t mass produce it, and they can’t make enough of it ’cause it’s that advanced. They can only make 10,000 of these things a week or 10,000 a day, is what it is. It’s 300,000 a month. That’s not gonna get close, not even gonna get close. They sell 10 iPhones a second, and they’re making 300,000 a month. There’s no way.

I don’t know how they’re gonna speed up production of this, because it’s all depending on the parts that they have to get to assemble them. The biggest part is the big full screen, the OLED screen. They’re having trouble manufacturing it because of Apple’s stringent requirements for the screen. I really think it’s gonna be back ordered all the way through at least March of next year, and maybe even longer. By back ordered, I mean, you ordered it, it’s gonna be four to six weeks ’til you get it, or maybe even longer. I think some of that is legit, and the other reason for it is to make sure they sell some of the iPhone 8.

See, next year they’re gonna come out with the bigger version of the iPhone X, the iPhone X Plus. It’ll have a six-and-a-half-inch screen, and people like me will really want that one. And then they won’t be selling the Plus iPhone anymore because they won’t need — this is the year they still need to sell that phone, and it will be much more widely available than this new one. So I think it’s strategic, and it’s also related to supply. But I think this is gonna be back ordered for many, many moons.
