RUSH: Here first: Kushner. He went in and he had his meeting with investigators about any number of allegations that he had tried to set up a back channel to Russia.
By the way, that Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak? You know this guy resigned today? (interruption) Well, I don’t know if he’s been reassigned or if he’s been called home, but they’re sending a new guy over to replace him sometime next month. (interruption) Well, no, I don’t know that… Kislyak, I think, has done his job. (laughing) I think he’s not going to the gulag. The guy’s probably coming back to get the Order of Lenin medal. All this guy ever did was go to lunch! I mean, that’s what he’s known for.
Kislyak went to lunch with people, and after lunch he went to cocktail parties, and apparently everybody in the Trump team told him every secret in the world. If you listen to the media, this Kislyak guy found a way to get Mike Flynn to unload everything he knew, then Roger Stone, then Paul Manafort, and then who the hell else. Carter Page. Jared Kushner. Jeff Sessions. I mean, this guy was all over! All he did was eat, and at every meal there were Trump conspirators dining with him, unloading on everything. He seems to be the focus of all this as the media has said.
The guy looks like a buffoon. Have you ever seen this guy? He really… I mean, we’re not supposed to note things like that. We leave that to the left. But, I mean, you can’t avoid it. He looks like Alfred E. Neuman with a hundred more pounds, in a way. Now, you Millennials may not know who Alfred E. Neuman is, although you might. Mad magazine might be a hip thing. Anyway, here’s Kushner. We have three sound bites. This is outside the White House after he got back from the interrogation, after he got back from the grilling, after he got back from his time on Capitol Hill. Where, no doubt, the media was expecting them to sweat the truth out of this guy.
He was gonna finally unload and give everybody the dirt on how Trump cheated with the Russians!
But, alas, it didn’t happen.
KUSHNER: When my father-in-law decided to run for president, I served his campaign the best I could because I believe in him and his ability to improve the lives of all Americans. And now, serving the president and the people of the United States has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime. RUSH: That’s Jared Kushner “Mr. Ivanka Trump” in some circles. (interruption) What did you say? He doesn’t ever look excited? No, he doesn’t, but that’s an appropriate thing to say. I mean, it’s an appropriate thing. It probably is. (summarized) “My father-in-law decided to run for president after I told him to do it, he served his campaign the best I could because I believe in him and his ability improve the lives of all Americans, and I want to help. Now serving my father-in-law and the president and the people of the United States has been an honor and privilege.
“It’s the honor and privilege of a lifetime. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work on important matters like Middle East peace and reinvigorating America’s innovative spirit. I come to work with enthusiasm and excitement for what can be.” Drat! This guy is supposed to be broken! He’s supposed to be trembling! He’s supposed to be begging for mercy! Don’t tell me the Democrats blew it again in the interrogation.
Here’s the next sound bite…
KUSHNER: I have been consistent in saying that I was eager to share any information I have with the investigating bodies, and I’ve done so today. The record in documents I have voluntarily provided will show that all of my actions were proper and occurred in the normal course of events of a very unique campaign. Let me be very clear: I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so. I had no improper contacts. I have not relied on Russian funds for my businesses. And I have been fully transparent in providing all requested information. Donald Trump had a better message and ran a smarter campaign, and that is why he won. Suggesting otherwise ridicules those who voted for him.
RUSH: And that is the best point of all of this. What this continues to be is a major, major insult and dose of high contempt for the people that elected Trump. That’s exactly what this is. It is a slap in the face that has not stopped. “Trump could not have won this! People that supported him are minor, they’re dupes, they’re idiots. There are not very many of them.” Kushner is exactly right. It ridicules the people that voted for him, and it claims they’re not serious and they were tricked and they were befuddled and they were manipulated and all this.
This is a pretty broad-ranging denial of everything. If there’s evidence to the contrary here, the guy’s in trouble, because this is a broad, broad-range denial. Let me ask, folks… I don’t expect you to shot the answer so I can hear it. It’s a retorical question. What he said there, fine and dandy. But does it make you nervous that he has to say it? Does it sound defensive? I’m just asking. Do not infer from any what I’m saying what I think — or does it sound like, “Good! They’re fighting back. Good! They’re ramming it back righted in the Democrats’ face. Good!”
How do you hear this? (interruption) It doesn’t sound defensive. It doesn’t sound defensive. The charges are all over the place, been out there for a year. At some point, they have to be answered and responded to. Kushner’s going out and doing it, and I assume what he said today is simply a condensation of everything he said today in the hearing. (The interrogation.) Here’s the final bite. This actually Dana Bash. Now, this is an example of how they misread the Trump phenomenon. Jared’s point about insulting Trump voters? I knew that that was gonna resonate with the media.
They’re gonna hate that, because it’s the one thing about this… You know, if you get right down to it, if you boil this all down, one of the things that all of these establishment types in the media, Democrat Party, even some elected Republicans… What they just can’t stand is that so many people voted for Trump. That’s why they’re trying to concoct this whole cheat and collusion mechanism, ’cause they can’t believe it! They can’t believe that they do not have sway or influence over this many millions of Americans.
And because they don’t have sway or influence, this many million Americans must be a bunch of dopes! They must be a bunch of rubes! They must be so dumb and stupid that they can’t possibly be reached by the Drive-By Media. In addition to everything else, do not doubt me: This is a major craw that they think they hold sway over public opinion. They think they are able to make it, shape it, bend it, flake it, form it. And the Trump voters spoke up in random, utter denial. And they just haven’t been able to come to grips with that, either.
That group of people that voted for Trump, as far as the media and the establishment is concerned? That’s a whole document speaks for itself country of people. That’s a whole different universe people. Those are not Americans! Those are not the people we think of when they think of Americans. Hayseed hicks and what Obama called the bitter clingers. But Kushner is right: Suggesting that this election is illegitimate ridicules and insults everybody that voted for Trump.
That is a big reason why Trump voters are never gonna fall for this collusion story and are never gonna buy into this notion that the Russians rigged it with Trump. They’re never gonna buy into it, because it makes them illegitimate, and they are not illegitimate. You people that voted for Trump are not illegitimate and they’re trying to make you illegitimate by virtue of claiming that Trump’s election was. So Dana Bash was on Wolf Blitzer this afternoon. She spoke about Kushner’s comment that Trump won because he had a better message and that anyone saying otherwise ridicules his voters.
BASH: We often talk about when people go out and speak for this president they are speaking for an audience of one.
BORGER: (chortling)
BASH: That line was for that audience. This is for you, um, you know, father-in-law, Mr. President. Y’know, “I believe that anybody who questions the legitimacy of your election is belittling your voters.”
RUSH: Do you believe that? Do you understand what she just said that? She said that Kushner delivered that line for one person, for Trump. She said, “We often talk about when people go out and speak for this president, they’re speaking for an audience of one. ‘This is for you, Father-in-law, Mr. President. You know, I believe that anybody that questions the legitimacy of your election belittling your voters.'” That’s not at all what he was doing.
These people do not have the slightest idea of the real connection that exists between Trump — the bond that exists between Trump — and his voters, and by extension, Kushner and anybody else out there speaking for him. What a laugh, that Kushner was saying all of that just for Trump? You know what the implication there is? You know what she’s trying to imply? That Trump is a child, that Trump essentially — when we don’t see him — is in the crib with his diapers on, and everybody knows we have to treat him like a child.
We have to make him think he’s the only guy in the room. We have to make him think we all love him. We have to make him think that he’s the only person that matters to us. (This is how they think of the guy.) They haven’t the slightest clue. Dana, Kushner was talking to you! Kushner was talking to every damn one of you people in the media. You’re the ones trying to advance this idea is that all of this is illegitimate. He doesn’t have to tell Trump this. Trump already knows it.
They think Trump is this squishy mass of insecurity, masked by narcissistic ego, and he has to be carefully massaged and talked to each day to keep him from blowing up and going nuts. And that’s what Kushner was doing. “Don’t worry, father-in-law, we’re looking out for you. We care about you. We know that they’re insulting you,” blah, blah. I don’t know how you could be further off the mark. But it’s just further evidence, folks, they don’t get the bond. And it’s not just the bond that Trump has with his audience.
They’ve never understood the bond that you in this audience have for this program or any other media. They don’t understand it. They don’t understand the Fox News audience. What do they do to that? They ridicule that audience by ridiculing Fox, by making fun of people that work at Fox. They ridicule the people that watch it. And they wonder why they create so much animosity for themselves. They haven’t the slightest clue. If they do understand it, it’s even worse, because this is a knowing insult. You could probably go either way on this and be right.
One other little note here from Circa News. This was just this morning. “Jared Kushner Said He Got a Random Email Demanding Ransom Over Trump’s Tax Returns — Jared Kushner said he received a ‘random email’ during the 2016 presidential race from someone who threatened to release President Trump’s tax returns and [whoever this was] demanded ransom to keep the information secret. Kushner said he interpreted the email as a hoax, and that he showed it to a Secret Service agent, who instructed him to ignore it.
“The email, sent by ‘Guccifer400,’ allegedly demanded payment in bitcoin, an online currency. He said ‘Guccifer400’ never contacted him again after the initial message.” Kushner said, “I had no improper contacts. I have no relied on Russian funds for my businesses in the private sector,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. You know, the Trump tax returns ,I think, are a large part of this. ‘Cause I think these people — like Pencil Neck Schiff and Chuck You Schumer and all of the rest of them.
I really do think that they think that Trump’s tax returns are the way they’re gonna get him. It’s Trump’s tax returns that they’re going to be able to show his nefarious connections with Russian businessmen and oligarchs or whatever else they might dig up. You know, the casino business in New Jersey is not exactly choirboys you do business with them. I’m sure they think those tax returns hold the key to getting rid of Trump.
