RUSH: Liberals are working themselves into a lather. They’re furious at “signals” they’re getting from the Trump Administration that Obama’s climate change legacy is being dismantled.
Last week, the President ordered his EPA chief, Scott Pruitt, to revise Obama’s tailpipe emissions regulations. I wonder about Obama’s tailpipe a lot. And the White House budget outline cuts EPA funding by 31%. That’s more than any other agency.
The EPA’s so-called “Clean Power Plan” is also in Trump’s crosshairs. That’s the Obama rule that shuts down existing coal-fired power plants, and freezes construction on new ones. Obama called for replacing them with wind and solar farms. His agenda, obviously, was to bankrupt the coal industry. Trump’s agenda is to breathe new life into it.
But the biggest “signal” that things have changed was at a recent White House briefing when budget director Mick Mulvaney said to reporters: “As to climate change, I think the president was fairly straightforward: We’re not spending money on that anymore.”
Kablooey.
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Mario Molina from Mexico is among the loudest critics. He says the message being sent from the United States is, “We won’t do what the United States has promised to do” on climate change.
Wrong. We never promised to do any of this. Our Congress and our people were ignored for eight years. These were all Obama’s climate change promises. Now he’s gone. That’s the signal all of you people need to get.
