RUSH: Well, folks, there’s a showdown brewing in the Senate over a funding bill that keeps the government operating. The measure is scheduled for debate next month, but battle lines are already being drawn and Democrats are talking trash.

Senate Minority Leader “Chuck-You” Schumer sent a warning letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: If Republicans fund President Trump’s southern border wall in the must-pass bill, the Democrats will shut the government down. “Chuck-You” also warned that the bill better not defund Planned Parenthood or Democrats could shut the government down.

Right out of the Democrat playbook, Schumer said this shutdown would be the Republicans’ fault for trying to shove “poison pill” amendments down America’s throat.

Chuck, that may not fly. Most Americans want the border wall. They want the borders secure. They want illegal immigrants handled. And although you Democrats are beholden to Planned Parenthood, nobody else is. So, go right ahead, if this is the hill you want to die on, government shut down, climb right up and plant your flag.

Republican leaders were petrified whenever their rank-and-file suggested shutting down the government to force Obama’s hand. But Obama’s gone now. If you Democrats want a government shutdown over the wall for a week or two, a month or two, whatever, go ahead and do it, shut it down. We’ll see how your party does in the midterm elections. And if you think you can make the Republicans take the blame for this, as you’ve always been able to, go ahead and give it a shot. Because the odds are the Republicans are so used to taking the blame for it, that they’ll do it again.
