RUSH: Here’s Shea in New…? What…? Braunfel, whatever? Where are you calling from?

CALLER: New Braunfels, Texas.

RUSH: Texas! Okay. Great. I’m glad to have you here. How are you doing?

CALLER: I’m doing great, but I had to tell you that I started listening to you in the eighties against my will. I didn’t want to listen to you. I was married at the time to a guy that listened to you every day, and I finally listened to you (giggles), and I’ve been listening to you ever since.

RUSH: Well, wait a minute. You listened but you didn’t like me? Is that what you’re saying?

CALLER: No, I didn’t like you because I had never listened to you. I didn’t like you because of what I had heard about you.

RUSH: Oh! Ohhhh! I see.

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: You had not listened. I got it. Okay.

CALLER: Well, then, of course, when I started listening to you, I thought, “Well, that’s crazy.” That’s not at all what I thought you were all about.

RUSH: Well, I am so… You know, it takes a big-minded person to admit that, and these kinds of calls make my day, people that have read or heard all these deceitful, horrible things about me in the media and never listened because of it. Then when they do, they find out everything they heard was just wrong. So… Well, look, I’m so happy that you’re out there, and I really am glad that you called. I cannot thank you enough, and I hope you to continue to hang around.
