RUSH: Here’s Cindy somewhere in South Carolina.  Great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hello, Rush.  I cannot believe I’m talking to you.  I have been trying to call for years and years.  And, if it’s okay with you, I would like to preface my question with a personal story that you helped me through.

RUSH:  Sure.

CALLER:  When Bill Clinton was elected, there were so many of us who really didn’t want to see the light of day.  And I turned on your show for comfort, and a young lady from Louisiana called in and you said, “It’s gonna be okay.  We will get through this.”  But, at this point, as far as our country has gone down with all the presidents, really, and I’ll include George Bush in that, with not vetoing any spending bills, that type of thing, I don’t know if there’s gonna be any comfort if she’s elected, and if we lose you, we’ve lost something great, great, great —

RUSH:  Why would you lose me?

CALLER:  Well, I thought you said they were talking about that —

RUSH:  Oh.  Well, they’re gonna come after me, but they —

CALLER:  Will they have a way to get you?

RUSH:  Look, I was gonna try to ignore these sound bites I have already promoted, but now you’re bringing it up so I’m gonna play ’em in the next half hour.

CALLER:  Okay.

RUSH:  But I know where you’re leading with this.  Your setup here is will —

CALLER:  Can we survive —

RUSH:  Yeah.

CALLER:  — four to eight years of Hillary Clinton with open borders and no jobs.

RUSH:  Now, I know what you mean.  You’re not asking if you’re gonna live or die.  You’re asking what kind of country is it gonna be and is it gonna be a country that we recognize. You want to know, can we ever restore it if we lose it in this election, that’s pretty much what you’re asking, right?

CALLER:  If they win they will vote for her in four years, and I don’t see the Republicans having a chance.

RUSH:  Right.  Well, let me deal — I was trying to hurry you along ’cause of this. (end of segment tone) There’s the tone.  I have to take a break.  I’ll deal with this on the other side.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, I’m not evading the question.I’ve been thinking how to answer the caller before the break at the bottom of the hour.  She basically wanted to know: Can we survive Hillary winning? She didn’t mean life or death.  She means: Will there be an America? (sigh) You know, the best way for me to answer that is to tell you a little story.  My partnership agreement with my broadcast partners here expires at the end of this year, December 31st.  And for the last year, I actually thought about, “Do I really want to keep doing this if Hillary wins and gets the Supreme Court? What’s gonna be the point?”

I asked myself over and over, and I toyed with the idea of not renewing on the basis that what will be the point of all this? If we lose and she wins, what are we gonna do?  I mean, playing the role of Paul Revere and warning everybody, “The Liberals Are Coming”? It’s a little bit too late for that.  But then I decided that that would be easy, too easy — to quit, concede, give up — and I realized that no matter what happens in the election, they are still going to need to be opposed, and efforts are still going to be needed to make it as hard for them as possible to succeed.

So I decided to go ahead and re-up.  We kept the announcement of that very, very quiet. We didn’t ballyhoo it for reasons I requested. But I made the commitment to do it for four more years. So I found a whole bunch of reasons to continue and stay here and do it.  It’s just… I couldn’t ever really reach the point where I wanted to say, “It’s not worth fighting,” ’cause I never really believed that and I didn’t want to convey the impression that I thought that.  So I’m going to be here.

And, I don’t know… I’m gonna be dealing with it as it comes, and I can’t tell you what that’s gonna be.  I’m gonna be dealing with whatever happens, whoever wins. I’m gonna be dealing with whatever happens on a daily basis using the same principles and beliefs and hard-core character that I’ve brought to the show each and every day.  There’s nothing else we can do, and I could do other things but I don’t want to.  I’ve chosen to continue on here, folks.  I think it’s the only mature and reasonable thing to do.
