RUSH: This is Bill in Los Angeles. Bill, great to have you with us here on the EIB Network today. Hello.
CALLER: Hey, Rush, how are you?
RUSH: Just fine, sir.
CALLER: I’m one of that 11 to 14%.
RUSH: You are one of the 11 to 14% of what?
RUSH: Oh! Oh, you are. You’ve stopped watching.
CALLER: Oh, yes. And the games that I did kind of tune in to, I refused to buy any of their products.
RUSH: What brought this on, is it the Kaepernick type stuff?
CALLER: Absolutely it is. My dad served in the military for this nation for 29 years. I’m not going to take that stuff.
RUSH: I put myself in the position of people the NFL office who, in this incarnation, are the rich Republicans, in terms of the way the media treats ’em, and Roger Goodell is George W. Bush, literally hated and despised, may as well have taken the NFL into Iraq. I don’t think they understand when the Kaepernick stuff starts and other players pick it up, I wonder if the people in the NFL office think, “You know, we should allow it because that’s where the culture is going and we gotta be hip and we gotta be open to free expression and all that.” I don’t think they understand that most of their fans expect owners, coaches, and leagues, to stamp that stuff out.
CALLER: Well, they’re the ones who are paying them, so they should.
RUSH: Well, that’s another thing.
CALLER: And that leads me into what I, you know, what I called to talk about, and —
RUSH: Go ahead.
CALLER: — it’s just a case of lawlessness. You see, I’m African-American, and I never voted for Obama, and I told friends not to vote. And do you know how many people who voted for him were friends of mine that call me back and apologize to me?
RUSH: Really?
RUSH: That’s how community agitation and organizers accomplish what they accomplish, get people to act outside the law.
CALLER: Absolutely.
RUSH: In fact, to make your point, let me tell you a little short, short story. When I first started this program and we first got our affiliate in Los Angeles, I went out there to do the show from there for a week and to get to know the people and let ’em know they’d made a very wise choice and so forth. They set up newspaper interviews, which is what they thought they had to do. It was not the LA Times — maybe it was the LA Times.
I had a coffee or something with the LA Times and we were at a point where AIDS and gay activism was going nuts and they were invading St. Patrick’s and throwing condoms at the cardinal and general unrest. And this reporter was totally sympathetic to it and thought that I was the meanest, worst SOB on earth for not understanding it. And she said, “It’s the only way they can be noticed.”
And I said, “Let me turn this around. I’m in the get-noticed business. I’ve got a radio program. You seem to disapprove of what I do to get noticed, but I’m not breaking any laws. All I’m doing is talking and you think I’m a reprobate and an irresponsible, dangerous character, and these people are out there actually impacting lives.” Not just this group, but every public protester like what happened in Ferguson, you’re talking about community organizers, it all boils down to ideology. If the left is engaged in doing it, the lawlessness, then it’s justified because that’s what they have to do to be seen, to be heard, and to make so-called progress and so forth.
CALLER: That’s all they understand.
RUSH: Yep. But your point was we’re gonna elect a president who sanctions it and pretty much promotes it or authorizes or looks the other way at police.
CALLER: And that’s gonna be the spirit over the nation. Now, I have to disagree with you with the riots if Trump gets elected. I believe the whole spirit will change of the nation. And I think people will become more American citizens.
RUSH: Wait a minute. Let me make sure I understand you. Because I like this. You think that — can I infer that you’re a Trump supporter?
CALLER: Absolutely.
RUSH: Okay. Good. That’s what I thought.
CALLER: Unequivocally.
RUSH: So you think when Trump wins that there’s gonna be this massive happiness, this overwhelming spirit of positive change that is going to accompany Trump’s win, and because the number of people supporting Trump is huge, I’m sure you believe the pollsters are not catching it, and —
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: — the number of people that are gonna be enthusiastic about this are gonna dwarf the people opposed to it?
CALLER: Absolutely.
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: And I believe there are many people who vote Democrat that will vote for Trump. I took several people to see D’Souza’s movie.
RUSH: Yeah?
CALLER: And they said they had no idea — and these were blacks — they said they had no idea, and they said they would never vote Democrat again.
RUSH: Well, unfortunately that’s not data. I’m glad to hear it. I can tell you a story, you can tell me, it’s called anecdotal. It’s not data, but it’s encouraging. But, you know, the interesting thing is, I think not only is that happening, I think the real hidden, possible hidden so-called silent majority out there supporting Trump is really in this group of people that hasn’t voted in a long time ’cause they’re so fed up, in addition to the people who vote and who are registered. I do think that Robert Costa of the Washington Post was right about the fact that there’s a whole slew of people so fed up they haven’t voted for a long time, but they are registering now as Republicans.
He’s worried I’m putting a damper on this. I was trepidatious about making this prediction, ’cause I don’t want to affect anybody’s vote by predicting mayhem. I don’t want to cause people to be afraid to vote for Trump. But at the same time I was — another caller asked me the question and I wanted to delve into it and answer it honestly. But I’m fascinating by all this today. We had two really great questions, and this guy, this guy Bill from Los Angeles with the opposite perspective.
Bill, the only thing — I was not trying to put a damper on Trump’s potential eventual win by any stretch of the imagination. I was simply doing what I always do, and that is deconstructing liberal Democrats and explaining to people who they are. And they are going to be — well, it’s really not predictable. But the odds are they’re gonna be out of control. But I don’t want that to be a damper on anything. In fact, I think all these riots actually end up hurting Hillary. I think they end up helping Trump. If you must know, that’s what I think is happening. I don’t think any of this stuff’s hurting Trump, despite the media trying to make it look like Trump is somehow responsible for it.
I think it’s the exact opposite of that. But, please, you Trumpsters out there, by predicting the dissatisfaction, let’s leave it at that, that the left would have over Trump victory, I’m not arguing against a Trump win, don’t misunderstand. They’ve thrown everything they have at Trump, and they’re not through throwing things at Trump. And folks, I’m talking about people that are gonna lose their minds is what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about people that are gonna lose control. I’m talking about people that are gonna be just on the short side of insane. Hillary Clinton’s gonna need to be Nurse Ratched in defeat to help control these people.
