New York Times columnist Eduardo Porter did something most liberals won’t. He spelled out the liberal agenda honestly.

Porter’s latest column is titled “The Case for More Government and Higher Taxes.” He opens with the claim that in the past, Americans “appreciated the government that serves them.” Not any more. Today, most say the government “makes them feel either angry or frustrated.”

Over half of all voters believe they’re not keeping up with the rising cost of living. No surprise there, given the Obama economy. The overwhelming majority of Trump supporters think life for “people like them” is worse than it was 50 years ago.

Porter claims that decades of “sermons” about the incompetence of government have influenced people, wrongly. He says the “instinct that small government is always better than large government is grounded not in facts but rather in ideology and politics.”

What we need, he says, is a bigger government spending more money. On expanded unemployment and health insurance. We also need paid sick leave, parental leave, and wage insurance. We should spend more resources on poor families, and universal early education for children. Taxes will have to be raised by $2 trillion to pay for all this new welfare.

So that’s it. Give the ingrates free stuff, so they’ll love government again and elect Democrats forever.

Sound familiar? It should. It’s Hillary Clinton’s agenda to a tee!
