RUSH: This is Michael in Caseville, Michigan. Great to have you. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. How are you doing? My name is Mike. I’m a contractor from Caseville. I’m just really worried about this election. We got these two candidates, and, you know, just because Trump has GOP next to his name, I’m very conservative, but why should I settle for him? I mean, we got the Libertarians hitting 11%, they’re way closer to my values.

RUSH: Yeah?

CALLER: Why should we settle for Trump when we don’t have to? The older generation could mess this up by allowing this, by selecting the lesser of two evils. Keep telling me, well, that Hillary’s gonna win, Hillary’s gonna win.

RUSH: Yeah, see, that’s the thing, though, Michael. For the last — I don’t know — for the last however many presidential elections, the GOP establishment has told us, when we’ve been upset with the nominee, screw that, you have a duty to hold your nose and support our nominee. You have a duty to unify. You have a duty to put all that aside and come together, and now that the shoe’s on the other foot, they have no interest in doing the same thing. So I don’t disagree with you that there’s been this counterbalance, but you know the old saw about third parties. They’re not gonna win anything. When was the last one that was victorious?

CALLER: The point is we need to fire these people. We need to get ’em out of there. I mean, look at the all the —

RUSH: How are you gonna do that losing an election?

CALLER: — on both sides. (crosstalk)

RUSH: How are you gonna do it losing an election?

CALLER: You you gotta make strides. I mean, little by little you gotta make strides. You gotta do it somehow.

RUSH: Let me tell you something.

CALLER: Trump got in when nobody else said he could.

RUSH: I have — (crosstalk)

CALLER: Why can’t we get a nominee in there that that holds our values?

RUSH: Well, where is he?

CALLER: Well, like I said, the Libertarians have enough support where I think they will actually make the debates this time. And I think we need to go that way.

RUSH: There isn’t gonna be a Libertarian candidate that is on the ballots that is — (crosstalk)

CALLER: Holding 11% national support.

RUSH: Who?

CALLER: Gary Johnson.

RUSH: Oh, Gary, oh, Gary Johnson. How did I fail to comprehend where you were going, my bad. Gary Johnson. Yeah.

CALLER: Well, he doesn’t hold every single value I have, but at least he’s not flip-flopping going after Bernie’s supporters. I mean, that’s where Trump’s going. You know? I mean, he’s just everywhere.

RUSH: Well —

CALLER: He doesn’t care about grabbing the conservative vote. He’s made that clear. You know, I was firmly, firmly with Cruz. I would have gone Cruz all the way.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: But this guy, I cannot be accountable for this. I just can’t do it. I got five kids, you know, and —

RUSH: I hear you —

CALLER: — I’m trying to —

RUSH: I hear you. Guys guys like you, I can’t tell you how I think you guys are the backbone of America, you’ve just been forgotten and all that. But third party, you’re not gonna win anything. You’re just gonna guarantee that what you don’t want ends up victorious.
