Obama Celebrates as Brussels Burns

by Rush Limbaugh - Mar 24,2016

RUSH: Yes, I’ve seen it. Who hasn’t seen it? Pictures of Obama in Argentina dancing the tango after watching a baseball game. You have not seen it? Okay, good. Here’s Obama dancing with looks like professional Argentinean dancers, and Moochelle (My Belle) was also dancing with a professional male dancer in Argentina doing the tango. He’s celebrating. Here’s a guy who first appears underneath a mural, image of Che Guevara. That’s on purpose. That photo will hang in his presidential library. It’ll hang in his own personal library. It will hang in his house, probably.

That’s one of the proudest photos Obama ever has, a picture of him in Cuba underneath the mural of Che Guevara. It’s not an “unfortunate optic.” It was mission accomplished. It’s an in-your-face optic. So here’s Obama at a baseball game while Brussels burns, and now he’s on the dance floor doing the tango in Argentina while terrorism continues to be robust and enhanced and express itself in even greater numbers, and this is the transformation he promised. This is exactly what Obama set out to produce here, folks, this kind of chaos and upsetting the old order of things.

It’s why he’s not coming back.

He’s not upset by it.

RUSH: So would you agree with me that we’re looking at presidential passivity regarding ISIS? Here’s Brussels burning and on fire. And, by the way, Brussels is not just a place. Again, Brussels is the headquarters of the World Court. Brussels is the headquarters of NATO. Brussels is the headquarters of the European Union. It was not accidental that ISIS targeted Brussels and the specific areas in Brussels.

Brussels is the seat of socialist Europe. Brussels, in many estimates, is nirvana, is utopia. Brussels is the ideal. Brussels is the gathering place for all of the smart people. Brussels is where the sophisticated and the educated and the elite of the world gather to solve all problems. Well, there’s also The Hague over there in the Netherlands, but you can’t put everything in one basket. But Brussels contains the spot where all of these people of a certain mind-set, a certain education, a certain ideological bent, it’s where they all go when it’s time to get together to plan solutions to international and global events.

The best, the brightest, the most sophisticated, the people of the best breeding, people who come from the best families. In some cases in the UK, those from the aristocracy, those from the House of Lords, these are the best and the brightest, the smartest. These are the people who design life for the rest of the people of the world who are not anywhere near qualified. And ISIS hit it. ISIS hit the European Union and the way to get to it. And where is President Obama, who, by the way, looks at Brussels in much the same way I just described.

Where’s Obama? He continued to stay in Cuba, sitting next to Raul Castro at a baseball game. And then it’s on to Argentina for flamenco dancing, tangos, and whatever else with the leaders of that country. Total passivity, total uninterest, or disinterest, depending on how you likely use the word. But whatever, it was Alfred E. Neuman, “What, me worry?” I’ll send Kerry, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll send Lurch. I’ll send my secretary of state to show that I’m concerned about this.

There has been an overall passivity shown toward ISIS by President Obama, whether in the Middle East and now in Europe. ISIS is moving west, folks. ISIS has no doubt infiltrated our country. We would be fools to not think so. We would be foolish to not realize the possibility, the reality. So we are witnessing worldwide aggression by an expanding terror organization while the president of the United States, which automatically conferred upon him leader of the free world, appears to be uninterested, appears to be unconcerned. And I’m not saying this just because he doesn’t pick up and leave and go to Brussels or come back to Washington. Certainly that’s part of it, but you can tell by listening to him talk about it, it’s just not something that has him concerned.

He has never been proactive in taking on ISIS. In fact, he goes to great pains to create optics demonstrating almost a laissez-faire attitude towards all of terrorism. He gets close to saying that people oriented towards stopping terrorism are a little bit extreme, they’re a little bit excessive, it’s not that bad, we’ve gotta think positive. A little pocket of it here, he says, little pocket of it there. Obama says the world is getting better. The world is getting safer. And everybody scratches their heads. But nobody stops to think of the context in which he makes these statements, the world’s getting better. Well, to certain people all of this happening and to whom it is happening could maybe equal the world getting better.

What if you happen to believe that Europeans are reprobates because they were colonists and they branched out from their home countries in the UK and elsewhere and went to other parts of the world, the subcontinent, they went to Africa, they went to Australia. They colonized, and they basically took over, and they imposed themselves on otherwise sovereign people. And what if you have harbored a deep-seated resentment for that from the first day you were taught about it?

And what if ISIS attacking Europe, and what about massive Islamic extremist immigration in Germany and Sweden and Denmark, what if you think that is the world getting better? What if you think that’s the kind of thing that equals payback that has been long overdue, that these colonialists need to find out what it feels like to be invaded by people from other places who are trying to make the place their own. What if you happen to think that this “get even with ’em” mentality does equal the world getting better?

You look at the Middle East, President Obama is molding the Middle East far more than George W. Bush ever dreamed of, and he’s molding Europe far more than Harry Truman ever dreamed of. And what do I mean by that? Well, George W. Bush goes into Iraq, the stated objective here is to convert it to a democracy. The belief of George W. Bush is that all human beings are all human beings, and that we all have things in common. And one of those things is the yearning to be free, that none of us want to be living in dominion. We don’t want to be living in tyranny. We don’t want to be controlled.

We all want to be in charge of our own lives. And George W. Bush, much of it a religious view, believed that if we could simply establish an outpost of democracy in the Middle East, that it could spread, by showing the people of the Middle East what’s possible, that freedom and liberty and economic advancement is possible. Many people pooh-poohed the policy just like they pooh-poohed the notion that the people of the Soviet Union wanted to be free because they never had been and didn’t know what to do with it, big mistake to turn ’em loose and make ’em free. I remember that after the Berlin Wall fell. A lot of people think that Bush had the exactly wrong objective here. But nevertheless, he had the objective.

My point to you is that George Bush and his effort to mold the Middle East is being dwarfed by Obama’s effort to mold the Middle East. Look who happens to be taking over the Middle East. We just did a nuke deal with the Iranians under the premise that it’s simply nuclear power and a nation that seeks to modernize its power grid. But in fact everyone knows they’re on their way to getting a nuclear weapon, and we have paid for it and we have sanctioned it. We unfroze their assets, they have $150 billion to do with whatever they want that they didn’t have. Buy new airplanes for their airline, to go out and sponsor terrorism in other parts of the world, what have you, but all of this made possible by Barack Obama.

You look at Egypt, any number of places in the Middle East, ISIS is on the march. Rudy Giuliani was on Fox News last night. Bill O’Reilly said (paraphrasing), “Hillary Clinton helped found the Islamic State. Hillary Clinton actually is a founding member of the Islamic State.” He said, “If you’re talking about doing –” and we’ve got the sound bite coming up “– if you’re talking about doing what she wants to do, which is to rally our forces against ISIS, you’ve gotta come back to the White House, you’ve gotta sit in the Situation Room, you can’t leave until you come up with a plan.”

He says, “Obama doesn’t want to rally anybody. She had her chance to do it. She helped create ISIS,” Giuliani says. I mean, Hillary Clinton could be considered a founding member of ISIS by virtue of their policy in Iraq. We cleared out. We got out of there. We got out of the Middle East. We have cleared the field for ISIS, and they are on the March in the Middle East. Now they’re on the march in Europe. Obama is in Cuba, and he’s in Argentina, and he’s just having the grandest time.

I know it’s his last year. Therefore the last year of his term, and he knows that he’s not the focal point of the news right now so it’s just time to enjoy life. And in the process, if a bunch of people that were colonized years ago against their will are now striking back at their great oppressors? “Well, hey, payback’s a b-i-itch,” they say. But I would maintain over the course of his presidency Obama’s created ideal environments for terrorism. He withdrew troops in Iraq to the benefit of ISIS; bombed Libya, leaving it wide open for terrorists.

Now Hillary’s claiming that as a major foreign policy achievement! Libya is a disaster which led to Benghazi, which led to (as you know) four dead Americans. Obama created and encouraged massive numbers of refugees to essentially invade Europe. A similar invasion is happening in this country. And the numbers continue to increase each and every year, and Obama has made not one serious effort to stop it. In fact, anybody who does step up and try to stop it, Obama tries to stop them. The state of Arizona is a glaring example. None of this is accidental. None of this is happenstance.

None of this is just the normal evolution of the human condition on earth. This is the result of policy preferences. After withdrawing troops from Iraq to the benefit of ISIS, after bombing Libya, Obama created and encouraged massive numbers of refugees to invade Europe. He didn’t lift a finger in Syria. He lifted sanctions in Iran, and is doing the same thing now for yet another communist/terrorist regime in Cuba. Here at home, he has refused to protect our borders. He’s waged a war on the police. He has encouraged sanctuary cities to continue protecting criminals.

And let’s look seriously at Hillary Clinton and her e-mail situation. Everything that the Democrat Party, the American left, and Barack Obama stand for is wrapped up in this case. How many people have you run into who know the facts, who know what the FBI’s amassed — reams and reams of evidence! We’ve all heard the stories. “The FBI has got her! There is all kinds of evidence and just waiting to happen,” and if it doesn’t happen. Half the FBI’s walking out. We’ve heard this from three different credible sources with FBI Justice Department experience.”

Yet how many people do you know, just in your everyday walk in life who say, “Nothing gonna happen to Hillary.” Are you kidding? You really think that this Lynch babe, the attorney general, is gonna indict Hillary? Come on! You think the Democrats are gonna destroy their presidential candidate? Come on.” “What about the rule of law?” And when you hear people say, “The rule of law doesn’t matter to these people,” wait a moment. The rule of law is all that holds us together, folks — respect for and honoring the rule of law — and look at how many people think that politics, political loyalty, political objectives, will trump the rule of law in the Hillary e-mail case.

Think about that.

I mean, that’s really sobering, to give you an indication of just how far gone we are under this administration.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We’ll start with Linda in Lake City, Michigan. Great to have you, and hi.

CALLER: Good morning! What am I saying? Good afternoon.

RUSH: That’s right. That’s right.

CALLER: When you were describing Brussels, I thought for a minute you were describing Lake City, Michigan.

RUSH: You mean as the seat of modern sophistication and liberalism and world government?

CALLER: We don’t rise quite to that level, though. But I am wondering what the president could do on a personal level. I mean, I believe he gave a statement as to the reprehensible effect actions by ISIS in Brussels. I think we were all horrified.

RUSH: Hey, Linda, do you remember this thing called Hurricane Katrina?

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: Do you remember when George Bush flew over it in Air Force One, was pictured looking out the window? Do you remember what people said?

CALLER: No, I don’t.

RUSH: Oh, come on. Yes, you do. You just don’t want to admit that I got you.

CALLER: That he just flew over and didn’t actually go down?

RUSH: “He didn’t care! He didn’t land! He didn’t go see the suffering. He didn’t go talk to them. He didn’t go reassure them. Bush didn’t care! He probably enjoyed it New Orleans was hit because a bunch of Democrats live there.” That’s what people said.

CALLER: Well, you’re saying that about the current president, that he doesn’t care. I’m sure he does.

RUSH: No, he doesn’t. That’s exactly why he’s doing what he’s doing. I’m saying he doesn’t care. I’m saying this is the policy unfolding. It’s exactly… Obama’s probably not all that upset with any of this in the first place.

CALLER: Well —

RUSH: Actions speak louder than words, and this is a guy that’s not concerned before it. I’m sorry, Linda.

CALLER: Well, I believe he is concerned. I don’t think there was thinking he could have done by actually going to Brussels.

RUSH: Yeah, like Bush should have gone to New Orleans? Bush should have done this and Bush should have done that, and after 911 all Bush did was read to the kids in the classroom and didn’t even have the guts to go back to Washington. And here is Obama out doing the tango with women not even his wife. “I’m sure he cares. I’m sure he did all he could.” What a crock. I’m sorry. It doesn’t fly. The hypocrisy here… The thing is, you don’t know whether he thinks… You want to think that he cares. You want to think that.

CALLER: Well, of course I do. I want to think that you care. I mean, you should hope that I care. But you and I are not gonna go to Brussels.

RUSH: I don’t think “caring” accomplishes a thing. You and I can sit here and care all day long, it isn’t gonna change a thing. This is not about caring.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: It’s about leadership. It’s about leadership. It is about inspiration. It’s about comforting. It is about standing up for what’s right in the world and condemning what’s wrong. And you don’t do that while watching a baseball game with a communist dictator or dancing with a flamenco dancer who’s probably the paid mistress of the leader of Argentina.

Gotta take a break. I don’t think I can add much.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We go back to Linda in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. I’m glad you waited. It’s great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. I appreciate you.

RUSH: Thank you. I appreciate you. Thank you very much.

CALLER: I think that Obama can’t pay attention to this whole thing in Brussels right now. He’s on spring vacation. He’s on spring break with his family. He’s got games to go to and dances to go to. He just got… He’ll deal with this when he gets home. I just really feel like he’s on spring break. So this is not in the forefront of his mind right now.

RUSH: A vacation’s a vacation, and if you go on vacation, you should really just get into it. I mean, that’s the whole point of vacation.

CALLER: Exactly. Turn your phone off. I’m surprised he even knows this all happened.

RUSH: No, I get it. He knows it happened. I mean, I know you’re being facetious.

CALLER: Yes, I am.

RUSH: Totally. Totally. The problem is there are a lot of people in the country who would hear you and would say, “You know, this woman gets it! That poor president is so overworked. He committed to a vacation, has his children there. It’s their last spring break as president. He’s got other people that can deal with this. What can he do about it, anyway?” Linda, thank you.

Mike in St. Louis. Thank you, sir. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: I want to make a comment about this religion of peace thing. The only people that I’ve heard talking about religion of peace are usually liberty elites and politicians. I haven’t seen Muslim leaders such as they are come forward, stand behind the president at a presentation and decry this terrorism. You know, this administration —

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait. Hold it a minute. That’s a good point. When’s the last time…? Like when we see the Ayatollah Khamenei, does the Ayatollah Khamenei talk about Islam is a religion and Iran is a nation of peace?

CALLER: I haven’t heard him say that.

RUSH: No, the only thing is “Death to America!” “Death to America!” “Death to America!” You’re right. The practitioners of the religion don’t even call it a religion of peace.

CALLER: And this administration had no trouble finding a bunch of Catholic dissidents to invite to the White House when the pope came to the country.

RUSH: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

CALLER: So why can’t they find Muslim leaders who will stand up by name? I’ve seen some halfhearted press releases and Facebook postings decrying this. But, quite frankly, I don’t believe ’em.

RUSH: Well, because we don’t want to make them targets in their own neighborhoods, and that’s why they don’t come forward now.

CALLER: Well, what I say when people talk to me about Islam being the religion of peace, I say, “Name one — name one — Muslim leader who come forward and decry this and say it’s against the teachings of the Koran, ’cause I haven’t heard anybody do it.”

RUSH: Well, but it isn’t. See, that’s thing. But that’s another thing. Understanding the truth about Islam apparently is as difficult as understanding the truth about communism.

CALLER: (laughing).

RUSH: Well, I mean, your point is exactly right. Look, I hate… This another horse that I keep beating, but Andrew McCarthy, who has become a close friend… I’ll briefly tell the story. Andy McCarthy was in the US attorney’s office Southern District of Manhattan when The Blind Sheik, Omar Abdel Rahman, was threatening to blow up New York City. Lincoln Tunnel.

He did engineer the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. It became Andy’s job to convict him. Andy conducted the trial. So as part of his prep, he read the Koran. He had to find out how big a kook the guy was. The guy was advocating kooky things, recruiting people to blow up landmarks and tunnels and bridges. So he read the Koran to find out, in preparation for the trial, just what an oddball he was dealing with, and he found out that it’s all in there. That the guy wasn’t a kook; he was loyal. He was devout.

People don’t want to hear that. And of course you do have people, Islamists and Muslims, “No, no, no, that is an incorrect reading of the Koran.” So there is argument about that, but Andy steadfastly stands by it, maintains it, Sharia law, it’s all in there. But just as Chris Cuomo and who knows how many millions of others don’t get it about communism, same thing here.

Look at how anti-communism gets stigmatized. If you were an anti-communist, you were a kook, you were a nut, you were a conspiracy theorist, and nobody wanted to hear from you. Now, anti-communism, that’s so easy to fall back on. You simply are not sophisticated enough to understand exactly what’s going on if your view of communism is bad.

And the same thing is happening with people now who have a view of the religion of peace. If it doesn’t comport with the current DOJ definition, State Department definition, or Obama, then you are the problem. Anyway, it’s a good point. I’m glad you called, Mike.
