RUSH: After I finished with all of my avocational pursuits, it came time last night as it always does on Sunday to prepare, ’cause it’s a school night. Monday is a workday, and of course you know what that meant. You talk about a come-down, talk about an ice cold shower, here I am on this upper and this high, and I’m feeling great, and I’m feeling joyful, and I’m feeling proud of everything I’ve witnessed at the Masters, at Jordan Spieth and his family and everything about it, and then there’s Hillary and her stupid announcement that she wants to be coronated for president again.
And I said, gee whiz, what a downer, what an absolute crash this is, to have to make that leap. But we all did. And I can tell you, folks, I was telling Mr. Snerdley, Mr. Snerdley walked in here about an hour ago. I looked up at him and I said, “You know, I think it’s beginning to happen.”
He said, “What do you mean?”
“I said, I don’t know, Bo, I don’t care, I actually literally –” In fact, it’s more than I don’t care. I angrily, actively don’t care about Mrs. Clinton and her presidential announcement and her campaign and everything associated. I don’t care what the media is saying about it. I don’t care who’s excited. I don’t care a whit about it. To me, Mrs. Clinton running for president is a microcosm of everything that’s been wrong in this country since the mid-nineties coming back to life and trying to be reborn and reconstitute all of that negativism and continue the batch of it that we’re currently living through.
And I said there has to be more to life than this. Hillary Clinton running. And then, of course, duty called, I spent time familiarizing myself with the stupid things like the van and announcing on Twitter. And then I saw that stupid map that the Drive-Bys created with Twitter lighting up people supposedly excited by Hillary’s campaign. Nobody’s excited about Hillary’s campaign. That’s the point. They’re having to create all of this excitement. There isn’t any genuine excitement over Mrs. Clinton. That’s the whole point. That’s what bugs me. It’s all manufactured.
Now, in the Drive-Bys I imagine there’s some genuine excitement, I mean, people who live and breathe and die this stuff on the left. I know that there’s some genuine excitement. But for most people out there across the fruited plain, this is being forced on us, and I resent that. I turn on the TV and I see how breathlessly excited the Drive-Bys are, and I resent that. ‘Cause I think they’re faking.
Everything about the Clintons is fake, plastic banana, good-time rock ‘n’ roll, in terms of Mrs. Clinton trying to prepare herself as a woman running for everyday people. About the only thing that you can conclude here is that, to me, it looks like Hillary is gonna run as Elizabeth Warren in a pantsuit. I don’t know if she can pull that off or not.

RUSH: Saturday Night Live. I didn’t see it, but Saturday Night Live apparently ripped Hillary to shreds in a skit, in an opening skit. I don’t know what about. I don’t know what the details were. I just read that it happened. I don’t know that it means anything. I know a lot of people are going to write that it does. A lot of people are gonna say, “Hey, you know what? Saturday Night Live, no conservative show that, and if they start ripping into Mrs. Clinton, that’s pop culture, a lot of young people watch Saturday Night Live.”
I even had somebody suggest — you know, Mrs. Clinton was late yesterday announcing her stupid campaign. What’s the big deal? Everybody’s known this was gonna happen. To treat this as though it’s some shock and surprise, pleasant or otherwise, is just disingenuous because it’s fait accompli. She’s late. The fact of the matter is she’s late announcing because she got all of her paid speeches in, as she acts like an everyday American.
Mrs. Clinton hasn’t the slightest idea, and neither does Barack Obama and most in the Democrat Party, despite their claim they stand for the little guy, they really don’t know what everyday Americans, ordinary Americans, I prefer to call ’em the people that make the country work, they literally have no idea what life is like for most of those people today. They live in their cocoons. They tell themselves they got a great economic recovery going. They tell themselves they’ve got a great foreign policy going. They tell themselves that because life is great for them inside the Beltway in their little cocoon, it’s good for everybody. They have no idea.
They have no idea about student loan debt. They have no idea of the literal panic that’s out there over Obamacare. They have no idea about people being downsized from full-time work to 30 hours a week just to keep health care. They have no idea, and they don’t want to understand it, and they keep making it worse. They keep flooding the market with illegal aliens hoping to be granted amnesty that will flood the ordinary American market and dilute it even more.
It offends me. Somebody like Mrs. Clinton comes along and had to lie about being dead broke when they left the White House, stole furniture living the residence, try to pass themselves off as average, ordinary Americans, ordinary, everyday people, when their best friends are the richest people they can find. Every friendship the Clintons have is tied to money. I think the Clintons are classic people who, if they didn’t have money, if they weren’t able to offer things in exchange for money, I don’t know how many friends they’d really have.
Let’s face it, folks, there are just certain people — we have all kinds in America, as does the world — and you’ve known these people as well as I do. Some people have to purchase their friends. They have to buy their love because left to their own devices they’re just not gonna attract that many people. I think the Clintons are classically in that camp. I think their Hollywood buddies or whoever they are, their international intrigue, foreign policy buddies, it’s all involving money, people giving the Clintons money in exchange for something.
They’re not giving the Clintons money ’cause they love ’em. They’re not giving the Clintons money because they want the next invitation. They’re not giving the Clintons money for personal reasons. They’re giving the Clintons money because of what the Clintons will be able to do for them or to prevent happening to them. So in terms of real meaningful personal relationships, I don’t think it’s that many.
I think one of the telling things is all the people close to Hillary — it’s happened to me, too — they take you aside and they tell you who the real Hillary is. “Oh, yeah, the real Hillary, she loves having a beer. She loves going to bars and playing darts. Oh, the real Hill, she laughs.” Why do you even have to tell us this? Because it isn’t obvious who the real Hillary is. The real Hillary comes across as a detached, mean-spirited, aloof, arrogant, elitist Nurse Ratched. That’s why they have to tell us who the real Hillary is. Oh, yeah, behind the scenes, I’ve had it happen to me personally. I’ve had friends of hers describe back in the nineties, “You don’t understand her. She’s the life of the party.”
I said, “Right.”
“Well, she is. Hillary loves umbrella drinks.” I actually had somebody tell me that. So what? In some people’s worlds, in fact the world they run around in, umbrella drinks are embarrassing, and you wouldn’t be caught dead drinking one. I mean, a pina colada with an umbrella in it, no, no, no. But that’s the kind of stuff they have to tell people that Hillary does when we don’t see her. And I just maintain that if somebody has to come along and tell you who the real Hillary is, the real Hillary that you never see, that’s not the real Hillary.
Anyway, all of this, to me, is concocted. Every bit of it’s manufactured. I have a real problem with things that aren’t real, and I have a wall up, boundaries, if you want to call it that, whatever. I’m suspicious of manufactured anything, public relations, buzz, you name it. And I just think all of this is.
Anyway, this Saturday Night Live skit, I had people telling me, “You know, Rush, this doesn’t happen.” I had one guy say, you know, she was late announcing her candidacy on Twitter by a couple of hours and there was some speculation going on that they were shocked by what happened on Saturday Night Live. They had to make some adjustments for it. I’ve seen some outtakes and some experts, and they did savage her, they made total fun of her, which you really don’t see much on shows like Saturday Night Live.
Now, I want to take you back to me in December, the date exactly, December 5th of 2014, and this was issued as a warning. I happened to care about all this stuff back on that day. I really don’t, folks. I mean, may have to explain what I mean by not care. It’s not that I don’t care that she might be elected and cause havoc. The whole daily Washington media soap opera, the narrative, the template, the reporting on Hillary, it’s a yawner to me ’cause it’s all fake, it’s all manufactured, none of it’s real, and I don’t care. I don’t care enough to be afraid of her. I don’t care enough to be intimidated by her candidacy, and I don’t understand anybody else who is.

RUSH: Dennis in Lomita, California. Hey, Dennis, I’m glad you called. It’s great to have you on the program. Hi.
CALLER: Hey, Rush. It’s good to talk to you.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: Okay, going back to Hillary. Usually people in the public eye, people in her position, celebrities, politicians, they want to hide the negative and project the positive.
RUSH: I never worried about that.
CALLER: No, no. But with Hillary it seems to be the opposite. So the perception of Hillary is that she’s, you know, contentious, deceitful, disingenuous, all these negative things. But we have pundits and people close to her coming out and saying, “Oh, no, she’s the life of the party, she’s funny, she’s personable.” Well, if that’s the case, why does she want to hide that from us?
RUSH: Well, now, wait just a second. I talked about this earlier. I’ve had people that are very close to Hillary tell me this. “Rush, you don’t know her. She’s the life of the party, loves to play darts, she loves umbrella drinks, she laughs all the time.” The question to me is, “Well, where is that?”
RUSH: Yeah, but you asked why would they want to hide it.
CALLER: No, why would she hide it? Okay, not that she wants to, but why was that being hidden from us?
RUSH: Well, I don’t know that it —
CALLER: I can answer the question myself, but —
RUSH: Look, with these people you have to understand something going in. There’s an umbrella subject here. They are liberals. They cannot be honest.
CALLER: Oh, no, they can’t help themselves, and that’s what I was gonna say about Hillary. She can’t help herself because she is contemptuous to the bone. That’s who is she, and she’s toxic, and she resents the fact she has to hide who she really is. She’d rather take off the gloves, drop the mask, expose the fangs and the claws and tell people, “Hey, go along with me –“
RUSH: She does — no, wait. She does that. Her image is Nurse Ratched. That’s why they have to tell these stories.
CALLER: Well, yeah, she drops it, not completely, but it leaks through. And you’re exactly right. That’s why they tell the story.
RUSH: But you think she ought to just be Nurse Ratched honestly all the time, be who she is, is that what you’re saying?
CALLER: No, no. I’m saying that she would like to. She resents the fact that she can’t just be who she really wants to be, you know, a holier than thou, contemptuous, disingenuous — whatever. She resents the fact that she’s gotta play this role.
RUSH: If that’s true, there are two reasons for it. One thing, liberals cannot be honest with what they believe, so they lie about that. That makes them already prone to cloaking reality. They have to hide it. They can’t be honest about their ideas. They’re also angry as hell all the time. They’re enraged. This is what’s unique about Clinton. He’s pulled off this good old boy Bubba act and gets away with it. But the real liberal, the real committed liberal is angry all the time. And Hillary is.
I think you and I are speaking at crosshairs. You think I’m saying the same thing you are and I’m not. I’m saying they have to put out these stories about what she’s really like, “Oh, she’s just fun-loving” because it’s obvious she can’t pull that off. When she tries to be what she is, it is the most stilted, unnatural looking and feeling. Who she is is (imitating Hillary), “What difference it make now? I am tired of hearing that we can’t object to this administration and not be called patriotic! Screw you!” That’s who is she.
Who she is (imitating Hillary), “I ain’t no ways tired. I’m talking to some black people, and so I have to talk like I think they sound so that they will think I’m one of them. But I really think it’s crazy to have to be here.” That’s who she really is. Why do you think we get this ordinary American or everyday man campaign, this Twitter, phony baloney, plastic banana. That’s why I don’t care. I don’t get off on this.

RUSH: Here’s Bill in Arlington, Texas. Bill, I’m glad you called. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Thank you, Rush, and mega dittos.
RUSH: Oh, by the way, Bill, before you get going, I want to clarify, I didn’t mean to be short with our previous caller. All Dennis was saying, and I got this, he was saying Hillary is bitter about not being able to be bitter all the time. He thinks that Hillary is offended at having to act nice. That she can’t be who she really is, and I got that. I got that.
CALLER: Yeah, but, you know, Rush, Nurse Ratched always comes out.
RUSH: Well, I know.
CALLER: And here’s the thing. I watched Hillary’s video yesterday and I was struck by, you know, all the different shots of these Americans who all seem to be positive, upbeat, smiling, kind of looking forward to the future, you know, and this whole cross section of people and everything, and then you get Hillary’s Nurse Ratched voice. And it was a real disconnect for me, you know, when her voice came on. And of course she sits there and then says, “Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top.” And the first thought I had was she’s one of those at the top.
RUSH: She is at the top, and she’s in bed, figuratively speaking, with them.
CALLER: That’s right.
RUSH: That’s why I resent this business, these guys that come out, Hillary included, try to make themselves out to be the champions of the little guy, and the little guy is always the one that gets the shaft with these people, and the rich — like we had the story last, the 1% are getting richer under Obama because of corporate cronyism, corporate socialism, whatever it is, the rich are getting richer.
Meanwhile, all these Democrats are voting for Obama and they’re gonna vote for Hillary thinking that they’re gonna look out for ’em and they’re gonna punish the rich. I got news for you. The rich do not get punished by Democrats. Now, the news media makes you think they’re gonna get punished. Taxes are gonna get increased or raised or some such thing. But it never, ever happens. The Democrat Party is more than it has ever been the party of the rich today. That is not an exaggeration.
Grab sound bite seven. Along comes Mrs. Clinton, just like Obama, trying to make the case that they care about the little guy and all these corporate titans are gonna get theirs finally, and we start talking about income inequality, and all that is is a cover story for raising everybody’s taxes, not just the rich. Anyway, you mentioned the video. We have just 32 seconds of the audio of her video, and this is the message where she said every day Americans need a champion, that she wants to be that champion. And at the very end of the two-minute video features everyday Americans, just like Bill said here. And Mrs. Clinton then appears in front of her Chappaqua houses where there have been no everyday people ever on site except for the staff.
HILLARY: I’m running for president. Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top.
RUSH: All right.
HILLARY: Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion. So you can do more than just get by, you can get ahead and stay ahead, because when families are strong, America is strong.
RUSH: Okay.
HILLARY: So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote.
RUSH: Okay.
HILLARY: Because it’s your time, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
RUSH: All right, now, the Democrats have been saying this for 50 years. My whole life that’s been the Democrat Party message. Somebody answer a question for me. How come all these groups that vote Democrat are still mired in poverty? How come all these groups are still angry? How come all the people in the groups of the individuals that vote Democrat are still unhappy and miserable and still demanding change, still hate Republicans? Why is it?
They’ve been voting loyal Democrat for all these years, the Democrats are gonna get even with the rich, the Democrats are gonna spread the wealth, the Democrats are gonna redistribute the wealth, the Democrats are gonna redistribute income, the Democrats are gonna get even with the people making you unhappy, why aren’t you happy yet? In fact, I’d put this way. The people that have been voting Democrat all their lives have never been angrier than they are today. They’ve owned Washington politics for six and a half years. Where’s this utopia? They promised one. They’ve been promising utopia for 50 years. They’ve been promising African-Americans’ emancipation, salvation, and who knows what, for 50 years.
The African-American experience in America is apparently getting worse ’cause they’re angrier than they’ve ever been. Well, maybe not angrier but, I mean, we’re approaching the kind of anger we had back in the sixties with the Watts riots and all that. Why? At what point do people voting for Democrats spouting this BS like Mrs. Clinton just did, wake up and say, “Wait a minute, they’re not delivering”?
Look at the opening line: “Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times. The deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top.” What really does that mean, the deck is stacked in favor of those at the top? Are we to believe that those at the top have what they have because the deck is stacked in their favor? If so, what does that mean, that the government’s given them more than they’ve given other people? What does it mean?
Do the people at the top not work? Do the people at the top not invent? Do the people at the top not innovate? (interruption) Oh, she’s saying the rules benefit those at the top. Well, what are the rules supposed to do to the people at the top? It’s gotta be more than taxes. If the rules benefit, that’s what the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top means — and I don’t think it is about rules, but I’ll discuss that, I mean, I’ll take it on. You could be right. I think deck’s still stacked in favor of those at the top is rooted in they don’t deserve it and you do, and you’re getting the shaft, and I’m gonna make sure they get the shaft, okay?
Now, if it isn’t that, if it means the rules are stacked in favor of those at the top, okay, what are those rules, and what rules are permitting the people at the top to stay there, and what is the objective of the rules? Are we to take the people at the top and push ’em down? What’s the point here? What’s the message? If you’re an average Democrat voter, and you cheer this, and you hear Mrs. Clinton say, “A lot of Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” well, what are you expecting Mrs. Clinton to do to those at the top?
What is your average Democrat voter expecting? (interruption) Well, okay, take them down a notch? They’ve been expecting that for 50 years is my point and it isn’t happening. Every year Gates and Buffett are in a contest over the worlds’s richest. Last I looked, no Democrat president has taken ’em out. Every Democrat president, in fact, has sidled up to ’em, wanted to kiss their butt. I haven’t seen the government go after them. They make this notion of raising taxes on the rich and so forth, but… (interruption) Yeah, well, rich Republicans, of course, but that’s the point.
Everybody at the top is said to be a Republican. And most of the people at the top today are Democrats. Dirty little secret. But no, seriously, even if you don’t get this deep into it, this has been the message for 50 years, and the people voting for people like Mrs. Clinton, Barack Obama, are angrier than they’ve ever been. They’re unhappier than they’ve ever been. How can that be? The Democrat Party has been looking out for the little guy, as I say, for my entire life, and the little guy keeps losing more and more. The little guy keeps losing a little economic freedom, a little real freedom, the little guy is finding it tougher to hold on to Obamacare, tougher to send his kids to college.
How in the world is voting for these people helping? And of these interest groups that vote for the Democrat candidate 90, 93% of the time, why are they as angry as they’ve ever been? And why are they continually enraged and unhappy? What good is voting Democrat doing them? And yet here comes Mrs. Clinton with the same message just recycled. Classes envy, class warfare, every day Americans need a champion. What’s Obama been for the last six and a half years if he hasn’t a champion for the little guy? That’s what he ran on. Is Mrs. Clinton saying that Obama abandoned the people that voted for him?
Nobody examines this stuff. And nobody on the Democrat side ever looks at the Democrat base and sees it for what it is. It’s a collection that is growing and consists of tremendously angry, tremendously unhappy, dispirited, enraged people, even after six and a half years of their party running everything. I know the intellectual answers to this. I know impossibility of the Democrat agenda. I know there’s no utopia. It’s not possible. I know that Democrat policies do not create prosperity. I know all that. They don’t, though. It’s my point. They’ve been waiting 50 years for these votes to pay off. And they’re nowhere nearer paying off than they were on day one 50 years ago.

RUSH: Colleen in San Juan Capistrano, California. Great to have you on the program. Hi.
CALLER: Hey, Rush, you’re still cool.
RUSH: Thank you. Means a lot.
CALLER: Oh. Listen, I called to tell you it’s driving me crazy. None of the Democrats are running against Hillary. It’s obvious that the DNC promised Bill that if he gave the speech of his life to back Obama at the Democratic convention, that they would commit to back Hillary, and that means the money. Remember, he said in his speech, you know, Bill was his ego, he said, “I couldn’t have done it better than Obama.”
RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember that, and I remember doing a double-take when I heard it, because Clinton was actually trying to acknowledge that he was a bigger, more effective guy than Obama, when he said (imitating Clinton), “And I couldn’t have done it better than this guy, and if I couldn’t have done it better, than nobody could,” I do remember. But I gotta tell you, I’m not so sure that the Democrat National Committee has got this wrapped up for her, because Martin O’Malley is thinking about getting in and Biden’s thinking about it, and Elizabeth Warren. Well, she’s on the fringes in more ways than one. But this O’Malley guy, the former governor of Maryland, is said to be looking at an announcement sometime next month in May.
CALLER: Well, that’s ’cause the Democrats are now running scared seeing that Hillary is out there now, and now people are really seeing what she is. And while I have you on, I’ve gotta tell you, Fox is really making a mistake. I had to turn them off for the last three days because all they talked about every 10 minutes was Hillary. Hillary’s going to announce. They’re making her bigger than life.
RUSH: Well, yeah, but they have a news operation at Fox, and that is the narrative of the day. She’s the next person to announce and it’s Hillary Clinton, and they can’t ignore it.
CALLER: No, they can’t ignore it, but they were making it bigger than they were for the Republicans.
RUSH: Oh. Well, wait ’til Jeb officially announces, and you’ll see, they’ll fix it.
CALLER: (laughing)
RUSH: They will. What’s everybody laughing at?
