Obama Goes for the Guns

by Rush Limbaugh - Feb 26,2015

RUSH: How many of you remember my issuing a warning that the next two years of the Obama administration are going to be unlike anything anybody imagines, that you haven’t seen anything yet? And I tied it to Obama alone. He will do what he’s going to do regardless, but when the Republicans announced that impeachment was off the table and that any constitutional mechanism at their disposal to stop him would not be used, “Katy, bar the door.”

I have said it over and over again. I’ve repeated it I don’t know how many times. I have not offered specific examples because my mind doesn’t work that way. I don’t conjure up ways of denying people freedom. I don’t sit around and examine what people do that I don’t like and try to figure out ways to get them to stop it, unless we’re talking about lawbreakers, of course. But I’m a freedom, liberty, live and let live kind of guy. I might not approve of or like what people do, but have at it.

By the same token, I am not the kind of person that wants to enforce my wants, likes, desires, on everybody else. I have no desire that everybody like what I like. I have no desire everybody say what I want to hear said. I have no desire everybody stop whatever they’re doing and listen to what I have to say. I have no desire that everybody agree. No, that’s not true. I do wish everybody agreed, but I’m not gonna sit around and force that on people.

But people like Barack Obama are just the exact opposite. And people like Barack Obama and many of his minions in his administration and throughout the Democrat Party today, in academe, it’s all about enforcing the way they think everybody ought to be on every

This is from Paul Bedard, the Washington Examiner: “Obama to Ban Bullets by Executive Action, Threatens Top-Selling AR-15 Rifle.” It’s a semiautomatic. He is going to ban “one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company CabelaÂ’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.”

Now, as the day began, here were the things that were occupying the media and therefore occupying everybody’s attention. These are the things that are the focus of the news today. The FCC and its vote today on net neutrality. There are a plethora of stories today about the upcoming Supreme Court case and Obamacare, about which we will have some very interesting details for you. The ongoing story of immigration.

By the way, the latest news on immigration is the Regime is now banning the use of the term “illegal immigrant” and they are now to be called “Americans-in-waiting.” You hadn’t heard that? Snerdley’s face popped up like he hadn’t heard. I have it right here. I’m holding it in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers. In the Washington Times: “The White House is now using the term ‘Americans-in-waiting’ to describe the thousands of illegal immigrants waiting for green cards ‘as a result of our broken immigration system.'”

Of course, our immigration system isn’t broken. The enforcement of our immigration system is broken. The president, the Democrat Party, and several in the Republican Party are trying to break the immigration system. The system itself is not broken; it’s just fine. It’s just being ignored.

“The White House used the new phrase Tuesday in an update on President ObamaÂ’s executive amnesty actions, titled ‘Taking Action to Unlock the Economic Contributions of Americans-in-Waiting.'” That is how Obama is characterizing executive action that grants amnesty to I think four and a half million Americans. He did a town hall on MSNBC last night. I haven’t had a chance to go through the entire sound bite roster so I don’t know what I’ve got there. I’m gonna have to do this at the break, see what I’ve got.

He was on MSNBC and I lifted the ban temporarily since the subject matter was Obama and not those lamebrain hosts they have on that network. And I think he was asked, I’m not sure, I think he was asked why only four and a half million? Why don’t you grant amnesty for all of them? He gave some convoluted answer to it. But it is a good question. If you’re gonna grant amnesty to four and a half million, why not five, why not 10, why not 11, why not all 20? It’s a good question. It’s a matter of what he thinks he can get away with to start.

Anyway, the White House is now changing the terms. Illegal immigrants are now called Americans-in-waiting. And that comes in the title of the executive action that Obama’s gonna take, taking action to unlock the economic contributions of Americans-in-waiting. And you know who that’s aimed at? Good old low-information voters out there who get their news from HBO, who get their news from E! Entertainment network, who get their news from TMZ, who get their news from Yahoo.

So you call it taking action to unlock the economic contributions. Boy, we need economic contributions, right? We need economic growth. Taking action to unlock the economic contributions of Americans-in-waiting. Who could possibly oppose that, except those evil, mean Republicans who oppose everything that’s good. That’s how this is designed. This is how it is set up.

So while everybody’s looking at that and everybody’s looking at the FCC vote today on net neutrality, which there’s no such thing, and the Supreme Court case, as I said, on Obamacare, not to mention ISIS. We now know who Islamic John is. He’s a well-to-do Brit. Somebody needs to tell Obama and Marie Harf. His name’s Mohammed something or other. He’s a well-to-do Brit. He’s not poor. He’s not unemployed. We found out who he is. And now there’s another subject that has, shall we say, floated up as part of the flotsam, and that is Hillary Clinton and foreign money.

I find it very fascinating, ladies and gentlemen, that it’s the Washington Post and left-wing news organizations that are raising these ethical questions about Mrs. Clinton and money, i.e., massive, huge donations to the Clinton Foundation. It’s called the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, by the way. Do you know why they call it the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation? To make it look like they’re your neighbors. “Yeah, I gave to the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Foundation.” Not the Clinton Foundation, not the this or that, not the bimbo eruptions foundation, but the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Foundation.

It’s not just the left, but there are places like the Washington Post beginning to question whether or not she’s going to have some ethical problems down the road in a future campaign, given that she sold all those bribes. Ahem. Excuse me. That she solicited all that money donated to her and her husband’s foundation while she was secretary of state.

So those are the five big things out there. And then sneaking up on us, as promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on America. The first target, the top selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semiautomatic with a ban on one of the most used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

I remember all of these years during the debate on gun control, I would find myself at a fashionable Fifth Avenue New York City dinner party with elite RINOs as the host and hostess. And they would come up to me, almost in a berating way, and demand that I explain why I could be so opposed to something so civilized as gun control. And I would say, “Well, you know, right across the street there is Central Park. Now, if you can promise me that your gun control is gonna take the guns out of the criminals’ hands who are over in the park, then you may be able to interest me. But all you’re gonna do is take guns away from law-abiding people who do not use them to commit crimes in the first place. How can you not see this?”

But, see, gun control and the specifics of it, like immigration, it’s not really about the substance when it comes to RINO Republicans supporting it. It is about appearing sophisticated. It’s about appearing superiorly educated, and it’s about qualifying for admittance in the club of elites. You have to be for gun control, whether you understand it or not. You have to be for raising the minimum wage even if you understand it or not. And you have to be pro-choice, otherwise you can’t possibly be sophisticated. And you’ll never be invited to the right parties, cocktail or otherwise, in Manhattan or Washington or LA or San Francisco or what have you.

When it comes to understanding the nuts and bolts of the details of any policy, the elites haven’t the slightest idea. I’m sure you’ve done this, too. In every gun control debate, somebody, some smart aleck will pop up and say the truth. The guns not killing anybody. The person pulling the trigger is. And then somebody will say, you know if you people were really serious, you’d ban bullets, a gun’s worthless without bullets. And here we are. Here we are. Isn’t it much easier to ban the production, the manufacture, and the sale of bullets than guns?

I mean, here’s Obama (imitating Obama), “Hey, I’m not going after your gun. Not me. I believe in the Second Amendment. But I read the Second Amendment, I don’t see anything in there about ammo. It says you can have all the guns you want, but it doesn’t say that about ammo.” So here we go, folks. It’s started. It has started, and I don’t want to sit here and do a nah-nah-nah-nah, but I just knew these next two years, Republicans in Washington, nobody has slightest idea. I had a e-mail back and forth with Brent Bozell today. He’s gonna make a speech. His CPAC speech is tomorrow and he was giving me a little preview of what he was gonna say. Part of it is that he doesn’t think enough conservatives, even now, actually understand who the opposition is.

They’re not McGovern Democrats. They’re not your dad’s Democrat Party or your grandfather. This is a bunch of fascists out there and a bunch of Stalinists, and all the young conservatives on our side haven’t the slightest idea. They think it’s just the standard, ordinary disagreement period, left and right, conservative and liberal. You go on Fox and you articulate your conservative point of view, and that constitutes doing battle, and it doesn’t. Going on television and appearing smart about your beliefs doesn’t mean anything when it comes to actually defeating these people. That takes a whole other commitment and level of involvement, and that’s gonna be the focus of his speech.

I wrote back, and I said, “I agree with you totally.” I don’t think a lot of people on our side, even now after six years of Obama, I don’t think — Mitch McConnell clearly doesn’t get it. I don’t think the elected Republicans, I don’t think the Republican establishment has the slightest idea. Jeb Bush doesn’t get it. These people do not understand what we’re up against, and they never will. They’re not gonna see it the way we do. So when you come along and you take impeachment off the table, and you’re telling this guy whatever he does, you’re not gonna stop him because of whatever reason. You’re not gonna stop him because you don’t want to be called a racist. You’re not gonna stop him because it’ll irritate the independents if you criticize, whatever convoluted, sissified excuses you can give me for not stopping him. What do you think he’s gonna do?

He’s got two years left to transform this country and he feels totally at home acting like a king. These are gonna be the two happiest years of his presidency. These next two years, it’s, “Katy, bar the door.” You can’t even imagine the kind of stuff that’s gonna come down the pike. And nobody’s gonna stop him. The Republicans have said it isn’t gonna happen. There are constitutional mechanisms but they’re not going to be used. Oh, he can’t wait these next two years. This is every liberal Democrat, every socialist’s best dream. These next two years, whatever they want to do, they’re just gonna do it by dictate. Executive action, executive order, what have you.

We got two years left to fix this country, two years left to correct all the mistakes made from the days of our founding. Two years left to get guns out of everybody’s hands. Two years left to take the guns and stuff away from the bitter clingers. And let your imagine run wild. We’re just in the second month of what will be the next 24 months. This is just month two and look at what’s happening already. As I say, he’s taking control of the Internet today with the FCC vote, without constitutional authority to do so.

It’ll be tied up in court. There will obviously be people hurt by this who will go to court and sue. Might result in some new telecommunications law. Could end up being positive in certain ways, but still, the power grab is what to notice here. Supreme Court and Obamacare, that’s over the subsidies. Executive action immigration, don’t think he’s gonna stop at five million. He’s gonna do it all. Islamic terrorism, Iran’s gonna get the nuke. And Hillary Clinton and foreign money. And now banning bullets to the AR-15.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Do you remember — I certainly do — do you remember when a number of people some years back began hoarding bullets? Gun owners and gun rights groups began hoarding ammunition and suggesting that people hoard ammunition because they said Obama and the Democrat Party were going to make a move to ban it at some point. And remember how every Drive-By news organization laughed at them and mocked them and made fun of them as paranoid, racist, right-wing kooks? I do. I remember all of that, and now here we are.

If you are just tuning in, President Obama is issuing executive actions to impose gun control on the nation by banning bullets to the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, one of the most used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters. And don’t think, “Well, they’re not banning all bullets, Rush.” See, this is where you lose it. If you say, “Well, it’s not every bullet, Rush.” It’s the first. It’s the beginning. You don’t think all bullets except those held by the military and the cops are the objective? This is how we end up losing these. “Well, it’s just one bullet, Rush. Come one. It’s not worth having an attack over.” And this is how things just slowly trickle away. Spring of 2013 was when the hoarding of ammo began and the left started mocking those who did it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, the hoarding of ammunition actually was begun by the government, and that is what triggered and even panicked ordinary, everyday citizens. The government, ATF, any number of agencies began hoarding ammunition. That triggered some people to start hoarding ammo themselves. The thought was, “Look, the government’s trying to corner the market on this stuff! The government’s trying to buy it all so there isn’t any for us.”

When people started leveling that allegation, here came, right on cue, the New York Times and the Washington Post — and, you name it, every other news organization –that proclaimed them kooks and hayseeds and paranoids, tin hats, all of this stuff, tinfoil hats, just impugning these people left and right. “How do you dare think that! We’re just preparing. We have to have a certain stock of ammunition for our agencies to be able to defend America,” blah blah blah blah blah.

Yet they were buying ammunition they didn’t need, they were buying more ammo than they ever had, and that sent red flags up all over the country, and people started hoarding ammunition themselves. It was that and the endless attempts to use shooting tragedies to push for even more gun control laws that made people run out and start thinking, “Something’s up here. We got a guy who openly…” I mean, people on the right who get this guy get it. They understand that he means what he says.

He wants to take guns out of everybody’s hands, and if he can’t do that, he’s gonna take the bullets that go in the guns out of everybody’s hands, and he’s just begun that process today. April 4th, 2013, Associated Press: “Gun Control Fears Send Ammo Flying off the Shelves — Gun enthusiasts fearful of new weapon controls and alarmed by rumors of government hoarding are buying bullets practically by the bushel, making it hard for stores nationwide to keep shelves stocked and even putting a pinch on some local law enforcement departments.”

I don’t know if you remember it with those refreshers, but I clearly do because I don’t forget this stuff. So here we go. And remember, we’re just into the second month of the next 24. I know that there are some people out there, many of you probably this audience, who are not surprised. You thought this day was coming, and you’re probably very frustrated. You’ve tried to warn people, and you probably were laughed at when you said, “You know, this guy, he’s gonna executive action guns.

“He’s gonna executive order guns, ammo, or whatever.” I’m sure your friends (who also probably think Sarah Palin’s an idiot), thought you were an idiot, probably thought you’re getting a little paranoid. “Come on, Rush, the government’s not gonna do that! They can’t; there’s the Second Amendment. They’re just talking. They’re not gonna ban bullets.” But here it is, they’re doing it. So I imagine many of you in this audience are not surprised.

But, on the other hand, do not forget that there are millions of Americans, who when they hear about this, are gonna be loudly applauding it. You know how many dumkoffs there are out there who think that it is the gun that is the problem in our culture, and you know how people believe in this gun control business ’cause whatever reasons they support it. You know it’s gonna be applauded, and it’s gonna be applauded in the Drive-By Media.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Grab a couple calls on this banning ammunition business. Hey, it’s real, it has started. The president has every intention of banning bullets in the AR-15 style semiautomatic, the 5.56MM ammo. That’s what they intend to do.

Here’s Walt, Rancho Cucamonga, California. Great to have you on the program, Walt. Hi.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. It’s a privilege and a pleasure to be able to talk to you and with you and your audience.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: When you talked about the this deal with taking away ammo, the ammo you’re talking about is .223 which a lot of hunters use and it’s also used in the military. And, you know, I don’t fear that this will ever happen, and I’ll tell you why. This country was founded by God-fearing people, and God holds his hand over this country. And because of that, because this is a choice country, I don’t see anybody trying to get into Russia or Cuba or Vietnam. It’s because this country is the best country on the face of the earth, and it’s because we are religious people that worship Heavenly Father. Now, one of the main reasons that no one will ever be able to take away our ammo or guns is because there’s over three million rednecks in this country that will never allow that to happen.

RUSH: Are you one of them?

CALLER: Well, I’m not a redneck, but I spent 20 years in the Army, and I know a lot of them, and they’re great people.

RUSH: Is it only rednecks that are gonna not let people take the their ammo away from them?

CALLER: Oh, no, I was just trying to be jovial there with that comment.

RUSH: Oh, okay, because that’s how Obama looks at them, and you sounded like Obama there, which is why I was asking you.

CALLER: Oh, please, don’t call me that. That’s like calling me a dirty word.

RUSH: I mean, he calls them bitter clingers, you call ’em rednecks, hayseed hicks.

CALLER: Hey, I love rednecks. They’re great people. I was just trying to be funny.

RUSH: So Deliverance is one of your all time favorite movies then, that’s how you get out of this, you love Deliverance.

CALLER: (laughing) Well, that’s my point Rush, it’s never gonna happen, because God’s not gonna let it happen.

RUSH: I’m sorry. It can happen. All they’ve gotta do is ban the manufacturer. At some point you’re gonna run out of ’em. Sure, you’re gonna have people hoard ’em. He’s not gonna be able to go and get every bullet from everybody’s house ’cause somebody’s gonna fire back if somebody shows up. People are not willingly gonna hand over their ammo stocks if the ATF started knocking on front doors. I understand that, but all they gotta do is tell the manufacturer, “You can’t sell to retail. You can only sell to us and the military.” And you’ll have some ammo trickle out, but they most certainly can impact the volume of ammo on the open market by threatening manufacturers.

There’s any number of ways to do it. I agree with you that actually taking existing stocks of ammo away from people is problematic, but they can certainly keep people from buying any new ones. They can hoard themselves. They can buy it up themselves. They can demand the manufacturers stop selling it or they can demand the manufacturers start making new ammo for which there is no gun. There are any number of ways they can do. But the point is, don’t doubt their intention here.

“They’re never gonna get control of the Internet. Come on, Rush. They’re never gonna get control of health care. You’re just being paranoid. They don’t even want to do that. They’re just trying to insure the uninsured.” I’ve heard all of this from people on our side, saying they’ll never get away with that, that’s not what they’re gonna try to do, and we have watched them do it six consecutive years with hardly any push-back whatsoever. I would be very respectful, if I may use that term, of their intentions.

If you doubt that Obama is serious about this, you need to change the way you’re thinking. And if you doubt that he will use the full force and power of the federal government to enact this ban, you need to examine the way you’re thinking. If you doubt that he will go as far as he can to make this reality, if you doubt any of it, you need to reexamine the way you’re thinking.

They are telling us what they’re gonna do. They have been telling us what they’re gonna do for six or seven years. It’s the one thing that we really can’t say we’re being shocked and surprised. That’s why the people who profess to be shocked and surprised by this kind of bother me, because it is happening right now. It started, actually, in 2013. What do you think the government buying up as much ammo as they could in the retail markets was all about? They’re telling us what they’re gonna do. Obama’s making no bones about it. It’s just so people, “Nah, he doesn’t, it will never happen.” That attitude is understandable in a sense. It’s rooted in the fact that, “No, we’ve never had a president do this, the Constitution, can’t do that. That’s not the way things happen in America.” That’s true. But they are happening.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yes, I just checked my e-mail during the break and I guess this is not that big a deal. Folks, a number of people who clearly, to me, sounded like they’re ammunition experts, say, “Rush, it’s not 5.56. That story’s wrong. It’s 2.23 and we’re talking about stuff that kills deer and elk and moose. American Sniper used the .308 that kills moose. Don’t worry about it, Rush, they can’t get it all.”

I’m stunned. I thought I had a major, major story here today. Obama, by executive order, wants to start banning ammunition, and the first caller, “Don’t worry, Rush, they can’t get it all.” I know anybody can send me an e-mail and say anything. Unless you know the person, it’s impossible to verify the contents of an e-mail, even the sender, so it could be a bunch of leftists just playing with me, access to the public e-mail account. That’s entirely possible. But you should just know, a bunch of supposed ammo experts: “Don’t worry, Rush, they can’t get it all. There is no way they can get it all.” The fact that they are even trying, I thought this would have people on DEFCON 5 today. Maybe I’m misreading this. Maybe it’s no big deal. Okay, don’t worry the ban on ammo, folks, ’cause they can’t get it all. How about I just tackle it that way and move on to something else.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Dan in Ottawa Lake Michigan. I really appreciate your waiting and welcome to the program, sir.

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. I wanted to clarify the point on the M855. I’m a firearms manufacturer myself, and since I’ve been on hold I’ve received 10 e-mails, text messages saying: “I heard on Rush’s show that the ATF’s banning the ammunition for the AR-15.” The M85 is a steel core and steel core-lead projectile for the 5.56 that’s been available to civilians since the 1970s. Now, that being said, the ATF is wanting to put a ban on the sale of that to citizens, which is wrong.

Now, your last caller that called in and said this isn’t gonna happen, God has his hand on America, I’m not gonna mock God because I do believe God has his hand on America, but I will say that they did it last year. The ATF banned the importation of a Russian steel core round very similar to the .223 5.56. It’s a 5.45 by 39 and you can no longer get steel core ammunition in that caliber. And it was an affordable round that shooters could get for 17 cents a shot, so for a rifle round, it was extremely practical for sportsmen to shoot that round —

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: — and it was used by many sportsmen.

RUSH: You mean rednecks?

CALLER: No, I mean shooters and American sportsmen.

RUSH: I know. I’m just being playful here. Here’s what I have. I don’t know enough about ammo. I don’t even know what any of this is. I’m just reading what I’ve got here. It’s in the Washington Examiner. It’s by Paul Bedard, B-e-d-a-r-d, used to be at the Washington Times.

“As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56 mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company CabelaÂ’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.”

So that’s what I reported ’cause that’s all I’ve got. I don’t know about 223. I don’t know about steel core, any of that stuff. All I know is they’re coming for bullets. They’re making no bones about it. They know they can’t get rid of guns, but they know how to make them obsolete and that’s eliminate bullets. And anybody who thinks this isn’t serious because they can’t really do it, there are too many bullets, there are too many people that’ll fire back, they still haven’t figured out who these people are yet, then. Do you doubt they mean this?

CALLER: I don’t doubt they mean it. I think everyone needs to be vigilant and they need to research the topic and they need to go to the NRA. They need to talk to individuals and professionally reach out to their elected officials. I even wrote the vice president of the BATF yesterday, and I said very professionally, you have to be professional when you approach this, because right now, it’s still in discussions. They haven’t done it yet, so mid-March is the time frame when, if they are gonna enact this, it’s gonna be mid-March. So people need to be diligent and get out there and have their voice be heard.

RUSH: Amen. They did that in November in the best way they know how. They voted. And they’ve been calling Congress to the point the phone lines are melted, and there doesn’t seem to be anybody listening. And they’re really, really frustrated. Most of them don’t know what else they can do besides vote. Maybe send an e-mail, maybe make a phone call.

But every day we wake up and this bunch is taking over something else or taking something away. If you know who these people are, you know they rant and rave about gun control, that’s all they’ve been ranting and raving about my whole life. They want this second to their desire to get national health care. He’s ordering the BATF to begin the implementation of a ban on I guess one kind of ammunition. That’s just the beginning. We’re only into the second month here, folks, of the last two years.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Scott in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. I’ve got about 35, 40 seconds, but I wanted to get to you here before we have to go.

CALLER: Rush?

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Yeah, how you doing? Scott here.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: One problem with the bullets and everything is, nobody’s getting excited because we’re so overwhelmed. Every day I’m bombarded by this lawlessness in everything they’re doing. The left is just piling on every day. Every day, it’s something new. I just can’t take any more.

RUSH: Well, I understand what you’re saying. “Okay, today it’s bullets. Yesterday it was this or that.” But bullets, the gun lobby? For the Second Amendment crowd in this country, this ought to stand out. That is my feeling about this. I thought this would cut through all that other noise. I thought this would make all that other stuff real. You may have a point. People are just overloaded and overwhelmed, and they’re out of emotional outrage. It could well be.
