Morning Update: Digital Dark Age

by Rush Limbaugh - Dec 10,2014

The White House this week announced a new, innovative plan. The seven largest school districts in America will start offering an introductory computer science course to all their students. Students in high school or middle school in New York, LA, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami and Fort Lauderdale are going to learn computer sciences.

In a video announcing the plan, Obama said, “While no one is born a computer scientist, becoming a computer scientist isn’t as scary as it sounds. With hard work and a little math and science, anyone can do it.”

Well, how would he know? What makes him an expert? But the larger point is this: Back during the Clinton years, Democrats complained about the “digital divide.” They claimed the poor had no access to the Information Superhighway, unlike the rich. So Democrats pushed to expand Internet service to schools. They tacked a tax onto everyone’s phone bills.

So here we are, decades later and seven of our largest school systems are promising to start — I repeat, to start – teaching their students about computer sciences.

We spend billions upon billions of dollars on education. Michelle Obama has spent untold dollars attempting to reeducate kids on the way they eat, and they throw away the food.

And for all the Democrat talk about “digital divides,” schools in big cities — overwhelmingly run by Democrats — are still apparently in the digital dark ages. And, bet on it: Ten years from now, nothing much will have changed!
