RUSH: Here’s Kathy, Freedom, Michigan. I’m glad you waited. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Thank you. Hi, Rush. I’d like to tell you that I listen to you mostly for your knowledge, but I also crave your humor.
RUSH: Well, thank you.
CALLER: You’re welcome. And I’ve had a couple of awesome moments with you. One of them was in 2010, the day after the election, when you played Ding-Dong, the Witch is Dead, and that was just amazing.
RUSH: That was funny. I remember (signing), “Ding Dong the wicked witch, wicked witch –“
CALLER: It was fabulous.
RUSH: Yeah, and in 1995 I played James Brown (singing), “I feel good. And I knew that I would, yeah.” Yep. So you think we need a new song, right?
CALLER: Yes. I’m calling with a request, and I’m hoping that you’re working on a song for the day after the midterm election, and of course we’re hoping that Dirty Harry will be going away but, you know, as you know the election could go either way, so I’m hoping —
RUSH: Well, do you have an idea? Is there some song you’re thinking about already that you’d like to hear?
CALLER: Oh, my gosh, put me on the spot. No, I really don’t.
RUSH: That’s my job.
CALLER: I really don’t. I’m opening you have all kinds of people that can help you out with that.
RUSH: Who needs all kinds of people —
CALLER: Oh.
RUSH: — to come up with a song idea? I mean, you’re right, I do. I do. You’re exactly right, but. I understand you’re put on the spot, name a song, it’s tough. But we have some ideas.
