RUSH: Something you may not be aware of, and I have been wondering about this. I must confess, I’ve been curious about this. The sultan of Brunei happens to own major hotel properties out here, I mean, five star, ten star, top drawer, Beverly Hills Hotel and the Hotel Bel-Air.
Now, the sultan of Brunei is Muslim, and the sultan of Brunei has just ratcheted up the endorsement of Sharia law, which is the standard belief system of 90% of the world’s Muslims who are Sunnis, in his own country. He’s not enforcing Sharia law yet at his properties in this country. Yet. Just in his own country, which is halfway around the world. And the gays and lesbians of Southern California are massing every day to protest this guy. Yesterday Jay Leno showed up to join the protest.
What these people are saying about Sharia and about Islam, if you were to say it, you’d be called a bigot and they’d haul you off somewhere, put you in prison with the guy that made the video in the Middle East that nobody ever saw. And I have been wondering, how long is it gonna take for the gay and lesbian community to get acquainted with what Sharia law says will be done to them. I mean, it isn’t me, folks. I didn’t write it. I’ve got the documentation. You can get the book for 20 bucks on Amazon. You don’t have to look hard for it. You don’t have to dig deep. It’s not hidden, what the Islamic view or the Sharia law view of homosexuality is. Basically it’s the epitome of intolerance.
So they’ve figured it out and there are daily protests here about the sultan of Brunei, and the ultimate wish is that he be forced to sell the properties or that he not be allowed back in the country or that he be kicked out or what have you. I mean, you haven’t heard much about it but he’s the new Donald Sterling out here. No, there’s not a hotel commissioner. It hasn’t gotten to that point yet. But, anyway, I’ve been wondering. I was driving in this morning before the sun came up. We get to work much, much earlier out here, folks. And the guy driving me in said, “Hey, how about Jay Leno?”
I said, “What? Jay Leno’s not in the news.”
“Oh, yeah, he joined the gays and lesbians about the sultan of Brunei.”
I hadn’t heard about it, so I immediately got in here and started digging deep. And here, grab sound bite 19. I mean, where have all these people been? This is the question. This is what happens with the left. They’re so tribal. They hang together. They only permit their own accredited people and groups, because of political correctness, to say things. Just two weeks ago, three, well, before these protests started, if anybody on the right had been critical of militant Islam or of jihad or Sharia, you know what happens. I mean, the people get descended on and they’re intimidated and they’re told to shut up and so forth.
It’s not hard to find out what happens. It’s almost as easy to find out what happens to journalists in communist countries. They’re shut down. So apparently, of all people, the sultan of Brunei who’s got about a thousand cars, four women per car. It’s like Sharia applies to everybody else. Well, that’s not actually true. Well, it is in a way, but I don’t want to get sidetracked into that. Let’s listen to Leno. This is on CNN’s Newsroom today. Oh, have you heard? Larry King says he’d take his own job back, but he doesn’t want the plane story. He wouldn’t do it if they force him to do the plane story. Yeah, we got that sound bite, too. And CNN, they dumped something for the plane story. It’s all here. That’s what I say. Folks, we’re jam-packed today.
And if your favorite story, what you really want to hear about is Benghazi, it may be awhile ’cause I don’t have any of it — (interruption) Well, we’ll get to that, I’m gonna get to the Monica stuff in a minute. But I don’t script anything. I just get the things as I get to them so your favorite story might be Benghazi, might be Monica, that is coming up pretty soon. Your favorite story might be Obama playing dictator on global warming. At some point during the entire program today we’re gonna get to all these things. I just can’t tell you when. If I knew, I would tell you, but I don’t know myself.
Here’s Leno, CNN Newsroom this morning, during a report about protests against the Beverly Hills Hotel. He owns the Bel-Air, too, right? Right. Which is owned by an investment group from Brunei, which recently adopted Sharia law. That would be the sultan of Brunei. Here is comedian and former Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, joining the protest.
LENO: I know a number of people are canceling events at the hotel, and it’s all economic. It’s not a political issue. This is not something that’s debatable. It’s people being stoned to death. Hello!
RUSH: Jay, where have you been? You know, Jay’s wife is a huge feminist. I mean, people have been stoned to death long before they got to the gays and lesbians. Try women. Anyway, they’re late arrivals. They think they’re on to something here. But it’s effervescing out here. It’s happening big, and I have to confess, and I know everything, and I didn’t know about this ’til I got out here.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Give me sound bite 21 before we get back to one. Jay Leno. We got more Jay Leno at the protest of the sultan of Brunei. I knew this without knowing it. I knew this is what they were thinking without knowing that they were thinking it, because I know these people.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome back. Rush Limbaugh from the Left Coast, remainder of the week, EIB Network on the road. Of course, as long as I’m here doesn’t really matter where “here” is. The phone number if you want to be on the program’s 800-282-2882.
So this is yesterday, Beverly Hills, outside the Beverly Hills Hotel during a protest against the hotel, which is owned by essentially the sultan of Brunei, who is ratcheting up the enforcement of Sharia law in Brunei. So the gay and lesbian population here is outraged, finally, over this. And Jay Leno joined them, and we’ve already played one Leno sound bite. This one goes by pretty fast. It’s just six seconds. Another excerpt from what he said at the protest yesterday.
LENO: Let’s put it in perspective. The people in the Beverly Hills Hotel now are the Clippers. The sultan of Brunei is Sterling.
RUSH: He actually went there, folks, he actually went there. This is what you have to do in LA to get people to pay attention now. You have to say that the people at the Beverly Hills Hotel are the Clippers and the sultan of Brunei is Donald Sterling. This doesn’t involve anything at the hotel yet. The investment group from Brunei that owns it, the sultan, essentially, are ratcheting up the enforcement of Sharia law in a Muslim country, Brunei. They haven’t yet enforced it on the guests or the employees, I don’t believe, at the Beverly Hills Hotel or the Bel-Air. The sultan owns both of them.
Here are, by the way, just to bring you up to speed, here are the 10 countries where homosexuality may be punished by death: Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Mauritania, Nigeria, Qatar, which is where Al Jazeera is, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates. So Jay Leno, how many people has Sterling killed? Those are the 10 countries. And so far the only country I know of being protested by anybody is Brunei and the sultan of Brunei. And I’ve been wondering how long this was gonna take, frankly, given the, shall we say, punitive nature of Sharia when it comes to homosexuality. It’s not hidden. It’s right out there. You can even go buy a book for 20 bucks on Amazon and read it.
Do you know the Muslim Brotherhood has an academic think tank? I forget the name of it off the top of my head. I’ve got it here somewhere. The brotherhood has an academic think tank, and you can read where the scholars there have written about this, the Muslim Brotherhood. Let’s go back, while we’re on the subject here. Let us, in light of Leno protesting — Ellen DeGeneres was there, too — let’s go back and listen to President Obama. Not listen, but I’ve got some excerpts of the famous Cairo speech and other things the president has said.
Number one: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” Number two: “The sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer.” President Obama said these things. Three: “We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country.” So this is the big Cairo speech. “As a student of history, I also know civilization’s debt to Islam. … Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.”
Okay, here are the 10 countries where homosexuality may be punishable by death: Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Mauritania — not all of these are Sunni Muslim countries. Ninety percent of the world’s Muslims are Sunnis, but you got the Shi’ites that make up the other branch. But, “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance. … Islam has always been a part of America. … We will encourage more Americans to study in Muslim communities. These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and IslamÂ’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.”
Again, the 10 countries where homosexuality may be punished by death are: Yemen, Iran — do I need to go any further here? And yet the sultan of Brunei all of a sudden has become Donald Sterling. Just curious. I’ve been wondering — I don’t want to make more of this, say things over and over again here. But I’ve been wondering why no mention, why no anger, and now there is.
