RUSH: Samuel L. Jackson is in a new movie called Robocop, so he’s out doing interviews, local and national interviews, to promote the release of the new movie. So it’s time to go to KTLA TV Eyeball 5 news in LA — and the entertainment reporter, naturally, is doing the interview. He had no questions about showers, but he did have some questions that he wanted to ask Samuel L. Jackson, and this is how it went.

RUBIN: The Super Bowl commercial. Did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?

JACKSON: What Super Bowl commercial?

RUBIN: Oh! You know what? I’ve been… My mistake. I —

JACKSON: See? See you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter.

RUBIN: Right.

JACKSON: I’m not Laurence Fishburne!

VOICES: (guffawing)

RUBIN: That’s my fault. I know that. That was my fault. My mistake. You know what?

JACKSON: We don’t all look alike. We might be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike.

RUBIN: No.

REPORTER: You are guilty!

JACKSON: You’re the entertainment reporter?

RUBIN: My mistake. I apologize.

RUSH: Now, with as much cross-talk as there was, let me tell you what happened. Were you able to hear that? The reporter’s name is Sam Rubin, and he asked Samuel L. Jackson, “So, how about that Super Bowl commercial?” and Jackson said, “What Super Bowl commercial?” and the reporter realizes he’s talking to the wrong guy. He says, “Oh, gee, you know what?

“Oh, my mistake,” and Samuel L. Jackson says, “See? You’re as crazy as the people on Twitter,” and you didn’t hear him say it, but he said, “You think we all look alike, but we don’t.” And Rubin said, “Right.” Jackson said, “I am not Laurence Fishburne.” The reporter was asking him about Laurence Fishburne, who did the Super Bowl commercial. Rubin said, “I know that. That was my fault. My mistake.”

“You know what?” Jackson said. “We don’t all look alike.” Rubin: “Yeah, you’re exactly right.” “We may be all black and famous, but we don’t all look alike. Rubin: “I am…” “You’re the entertainment reporter? There must be a short line of people wanting your job. There must be a real short line of people wanting your job,” he said to him.

It’s not in the bite here, but Samuel L. Jackson said, “You know, it might surprise you to know that I am the only black guy in my movie who’s not a criminal. What do you think of that?” The guy is just shrinking before viewers’ eyes on KTLA Eyeball 5 News. Okay, one more little lighthearted thing here before we head back to the… (laughing) “How’s that Super Bowl commercial?” (laughing) “What Super Bowl commercial?” (laughing)
