RUSH: First call. And we’re taking a call right now ’cause I’m fascinated by this. I got a call from my adopted hometown Sacramento. Kitty! Kitty, great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. How are you?

RUSH: Good. Thank you.

CALLER: I was saying back in, oh, ’87, you were in Sacramento locally —

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: — and you came into where I worked, and everybody in the department — it was a hospital, you made a visit. And everybody in the department was going, “Oh, Rush is here! Rush is here!” and I would like roll my eyes and go, “Big deal.”

RUSH: (stifling laughter)

CALLER: I couldn’t stand you. I couldn’t stand you at all, just didn’t listen to you, didn’t like you. Then I started listening to you, and I gotta tell you: I am in awe.

RUSH: Wow.

CALLER: Your insights, your perceptions just amaze me.

RUSH: I thought I was universally loved and adored in Sacramento.

CALLER: Well, you are now.

RUSH: I didn’t know there was anybody who didn’t like me, except there was a guy on the FM side that hated my guts.

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: Gary something or other. I think he’s picking up trash today, but I didn’t know anyone else didn’t like me. So the whole time I was there, you were not particularly enamored? You didn’t listen? You only started listening 10 years?

CALLER: Ten, 12 years ago, something like that, yeah. Yeah, I didn’t like you. I was a Democrat. I was just very… I can’t say I was a liberal. I wasn’t an old hippie, but I wasn’t really like real liberal. Now I switched over to the Republican Party, and now I’m sort of want be real happy with them and, you know, I’m look at being independent. But your insights, your knowledge just amazes me, and when you go 99.7%, I’d make that 99.8. (giggles)

RUSH: Well, I do, too, but the opinion auditing firm hasn’t moved it up in a while.

CALLER: Well, they don’t know about me.

RUSH: (laughing) That’s awfully nice of you. What part of Sacramento do you live.

CALLER: I am in Rancho Cordova.

RUSH: Rancho Cordova. See, it’s great. I know all these places.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: Rancho Cordova, South Natomas, all those places.

CALLER: Like, like I say I —

STAFF: (interruption)

RUSH: No, she’s not from Rio Linda. I can tell that by the way she sounds. She’s not from Rio Linda.

CALLER: Ha!

RUSH: Snerdley wants to know if you’ve been to Rio Linda. No. You don’t have to answer that. I’m sure people recognize your voice.

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: You don’t have to admit that. No. Don’t answer whether you’ve been to Rio Linda. I wouldn’t do that to you. You’re a big fan now.

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Huge.

RUSH: Well, Kitty, thank you, I appreciate it. I really do.

CALLER: Oh, not as much I appreciate you.

RUSH: What changed your mind? People want to know.

CALLER: Just your perceptions and just saying, you know —

RUSH: Yeah, but something had to happen. You didn’t like me for whatever reasons, and something 10 or12 years ago happened and you started listening. What made that happen?

CALLER: My husband. My husband like would listen to talk radio.

RUSH: Ah.

CALLER: He had you on, and I started to listening to you.

RUSH: You kinda had no choice, it was on, and you were sort of a prisoner to it, and then it somehow got through.

CALLER: It got through, and it’s like, “This guy’s right. He’s right on. He knows exactly what’s going on.”

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I started listening and never stopped.

RUSH: So now do you think back to those four years when I was in Sacramento, what you missed?

CALLER: Yeah. Oh.

RUSH: And what coulda been?

CALLER: Oh, yeah!

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: I mean, I was thinking about it, and it’s like, “Oh, I didn’t get a chance to meet him, and I am just in awe of him now.”

RUSH: Well, I’m due to make a return there. I still have a tremendous number of friends out there.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I’ve got so many things like that pile up that you want to do, that time sometimes doesn’t seem it’s gonna make itself available. But, anyway, Kitty, I appreciate the call. Great call, and thank you. Perfect day for you to get through with your message, and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So apparently all of the 24- and 25-year-old women who are afraid of me just need to get married, just need to get married and then become fans. (interruption) Well, I mean, not all of them are doing hookups, Snerdley. It may be a trend, but that’s a college thing. It may bleed over.
