RUSH: Thank you. Did you really, or are you just saying that?
CALLER: Oh, no! We missed you. It’s just not the same. I mean, your guest hosts are great, but it’s just not the same when you’re gone.
RUSH: Aren’t you sweet? That’s very kind. I appreciate that. The guest hosts are great, and they’re very nice guys — and they’re extremely competent, or they wouldn’t be here.
CALLER: My four-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, and I, we listen to you just about every day. She said to tell you hi from her, so —
RUSH: Well, you tell her that I hope it wasn’t serious break of the leg.
CALLER: Oh, no. Her name’s Brooklyn, and she just told me to say hi to you.
RUSH: Oh, she didn’t break her leg?
CALLER: No, no. She said to say hi.
RUSH: I misheard you.
BROOKLYN: (talking in the background)
RUSH: Oh, Brooklyn! I thought you said “broke her leg.” Sorry. Her name is Brooklyn. I thought she broke her leg in Brooklyn, and I was wondering why because you’re in Iowa.
CALLER: Oh. Nope.
BROOKLYN: (talking)
CALLER: Her name is Brooklyn. She listens to you with me about every day, so… (giggles)
BROOKLYN: (talking)
CALLER: Yep, and she’s all excited ’cause I’m on the phone with you right now, so —
RUSH: Well, put her on!
CALLER: Okay. (to kid) You want to talk to Rush?
BROOKLYN: Yeah!
RUSH: Put her on.

RUSH: Hey, Brooklyn.

RUSH: How are you?

RUSH: Well, good. Well, your mommy tells me that you like listening to this program, and I just wanted to thank you. I think that’s great.

CALLER: Well, thank you, Rush, and I want to say it’s an honor to talk to you. I ended up taking your challenge from my brother to listen to you at the beginning of the year because — and unfortunately — yes, I did vote for the guy in power right now. I am very disheartened on where the country’s going, and listening to you at the beginning of the year I guess really opened my eyes, and I just want to say: Keep up the fight — the good fight, I guess — and you are getting to people.
RUSH: You know, this —
CALLER: Snerdley might not think so, but you are.
RUSH: Now, this is interesting. You voted for Obama twice and you said your brother was urging you to…?
CALLER: — to vote the other way, correct. He was on me and, Rush, I don’t know why I didn’t listen. I guess it’s just that brotherly conflict, you know? I don’t know. I love the kid, but —
RUSH: Well finally you did listen.
CALLER: Yeah, and it was eye opening.
RUSH: What I’m interested in is this: If you didn’t listen to me, you probably… I’m guessing. Tell me if I’m wrong. You probably believed all of the stuff in the media, and whatever it is about me that’s negative.
CALLER: And that’s correct.
RUSH: Okay.
CALLER: That is so correct.
RUSH: But you just started listening the first of this year, like six months ago. Is that right?
CALLER: Correct. Correct.
RUSH: This is interesting to me. It’s actually uplifting. You’ve gone from six months ago thinking that I was just maybe one of the worst reprobates on the planet to telling me to keep up the good fight. That is an amazing transformation you’ve gone through.
CALLER: Yes, it is, and it’s not the image I had. It’s the image that was portrayed of you, not the image I had of you. The image that the media has of you.
RUSH: Oh, yeah. That’s what I meant.
CALLER: Okay. All right. Because after listening to you, everything that you’re saying is totally what I believe in and understand. How somebody can’t take responsibility for their actions — not knowing what’s going on in their own business, company, government — I don’t get it.
RUSH: You know, you’re giving me hope. You’re giving me hope, because — at least in your case — here’s somebody that now understands the Limbaugh Theorem. You know exactly what I’m talking about, and it found a home with you, ’cause you’re doing the right thing. I mean, here’s this guy. He’s president, he’s the number one executive, he’s in charge of everything, and yet he doesn’t know and it’s a surprise to him and he’s against it, too, and he’s mad about it and he’s trying to stop it!
And he’s not fooling you.
That gives a lot of us hope, because I’ll tell you: The low-information voters are carrying the day here. By low-information, we don’t mean stupid. We just mean uninformed, maybe ignorant just in the literal sense of not knowing what’s going on while thinking they do. But there’s gonna have to be some push-back at some point, if not against Obama, at least against Democrats and the kind of things that he believes and the people that he puts in power believe.
