RUSH: Larry in St. Louis. You’re next as we head back to the phones and Open Line Friday. Hi.

CALLER: (silence)

RUSH: Lar’? Are you there?

CALLER: From what you’re talking about, I’ve got three targets painted on me. I’m a conservative, I just started a small business, and the small business is oriented around defending against what the Islamic jihadists want to do, EMP attack. (laughing)

RUSH: Oh, my gosh. How do you get up every day?

CALLER: Yeah, I figure that the IRS is gonna have me right in the crosshairs. (laughing) But what I wanted to talk about is the robot economy. We’re only a couple of years away from the introduction of human-shaped robots that can use human tools. Eventually they’ll be self-repairing and self-replicating and they’ll be able to work tirelessly 24/7.

RUSH: What are they gonna build?

CALLER: Well, basically they’re going to be (sigh) taking over the low-level jobs, the ones that the so-called illegal immigrants are doing now, and that’s gonna have a profound effect on the economy.

RUSH: Well, now, wait. Wait. Hold it a minute. Hold it. I don’t want to insult you, but you’ve got to tell me what jobs the robots are gonna do. I don’t want…

CALLER: Well, these are human shaped, so they can do any job that a human being can do. They have two arms and two legs, and they’re what they call “general purpose robots.” They’ll be able to be trained to do, like, fieldwork for instance. You know, a lot of illegal immigrants work in agriculture, and, you know, they’ll bring in crops and so forth.

RUSH: Um, really?

CALLER: They’ll be able to do that. They’ll be able to do the low-level, you know, repetitive manufacturing-type jobs and so forth. What’ll happen is that, you know, all these jobs that the illegals are presently doing will go away. Because, in the long run, even though the initial outlay is more expensive, the robot doesn’t require health insurance, it doesn’t require benefits, and doesn’t require salary. It works 24/7, and once they become self-repairing, they don’t require any maintenance, either.

RUSH: All right, so what I’m hearing here is robots can pick crops, robots can offer medical assistance, they can do nurse work, they can be butlers. Hmm. (chuckling) Now, that’s… Folks, this is interesting. (laughing)
