RUSH: Get this one, folks, get this. On Joe Scarborough’s show today, Al Sharpton and Mike Barnicle. I mean, there’s a pair. Al Sharpton, Crown Heights, Freddy’s Fashion Mart. Mike Barnicle, plagiarism fame. They’re out there. You know what they’re saying? Opposition to Bloomberg. You know, Bloomberg and his gun control. What is Bloomberg? This guy’s like a Mad Hatter. He’s like a bond villain and he’s got this idea of gun control, and he’s trying to just enforce all kinds of gun control. Here you have Sharpton who knows anti-Semitism when he sees it, and Barnicle, they’re out there, anybody who opposes Bloomberg and his gun control efforts in New York is anti-Jewish.

That’s why they’re opposing Bloomberg. It has nothing to do with guns, nothing to do with Second Amendment, nothing to do about freedom, the Constitution. No, it’s the typical anybody opposed to Bloomberg is anti-Semitic.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, to the audio sound bites. Michael Bloomberg leaves no doubt now who he is and what he’s all about. On Meet the Press yesterday, David Gregory said, “Will you target people, Republicans and Democrats, who don’t support a ban on weapons, an assault weapons ban, who don’t vote for background checks? Will you spend money to target them in 2014, the midterm race?”

BLOOMBERG: I have a responsibility, and I think you and all of your viewers have responsibilities to try to make this country safer for our families and for each other. And if I can do that by spending some money and taking the NRA from being the only voice to being one of the voices so the public can really understand the issues, then I think my money would be well spent.

RUSH: So, yeah, I’ll spend whatever it takes to get people to do the right thing, even the people that don’t even know that they’re doing the right thing, I’ll do it. Somebody has to make ’em do the right thing. So Gregory said, “You’re telling people what they can and can’t do. Why is that government’s job to do that?”

BLOOMBERG: We’re telling them what science says is in their interests or isn’t in their interests. We allow you to smoke. We just don’t let you smoke where other people have to breathe the smoke that you’re exhaling or comes from your cigarette. The same thing with obesity which, incidentally, is a public interest because we’re gonna spend $5 billion on treating people with obesity in our hospitals in New York City alone this year. But regardless —

GREGORY: Where’s the line? Where is it too far for government to go?

BLOOMBERG: I do not think we should ban most things. I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom.

RUSH: There you have it. If there is any doubt — I don’t think there ever was, but if there was any, “there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom. We allow you to smoke. We just don’t let you smoke where other people have to breathe it, but we allow you to smoke.”
