RUSH: Nancy Pelosi yesterday at a press conference to talk about fiscal cliff negotiations.

PELOSI: Is there not an appreciation for the Jewish holidays, the Christmas holidays, Kwanzaa, all the other things that families come together around. Bonding rituals important to the strength of our society. Do we not care about that? Well, the American people do, and they want to shop for it.

RUSH: Now, you might be saying, “What the hell is that about?” That’s why I’m here, to tell you. What Nancy Pelosi is saying is that the Republicans are ruining Kwanzaa shopping with the fiscal cliff delay. The Republicans are destroying the Jewish holidays, the Christmas holiday, and Kwanzaa, all the things that families come together around, bonding rituals important to the strength of our society, Republicans don’t care about that. But the American people do. And they want to shop for it. They want to go shopping. The American people want to go shopping, Rachel, but because the Republicans are playing hardball on the fiscal cliff, Kwanzaa shoppers are so depressed that they’re not shopping for Kwanzaa. Jewish Americans are not shopping during this season, because the Republicans are playing hardball the fiscal cliff.

Let’s go back to 16, sound bite, while we’re at it here. Sheila Jackson Lee. Just to remind you, she is a congresswoman from Houston. She replaced former Congressman Mickey Leland who died in a plane cash in Ethiopia. He went over there to look at famine and his plane crashed. She ran for his seat, and won it. She is the member of Congress at NASA one day when the Mars Rover was being moved around and you could see it. They had a camera on the Mars Rover, and she asked NASA representatives if they were going to steer the rover on Mars over to where the astronauts had planted the flag. Which, of course, the astronauts haven’t been to Mars yet and there’s no flag there. That would be the moon. NASA officials reacted very embarrassed.

It’s sort of like Algore and Clinton. Shortly after Clinton was immaculated himself in 1993, they were at Thomas Jefferson’s house, or maybe George Washington, I forget which, and there were busts of famous Americans, former presidents. And Algore strolls in and he’s looking very studious and very serious, very scholarly, and he’s asking the curator, “And who is this?” “That is Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Vice President.” “Oh, Thomas Jefferson, yes. I didn’t recognize Thomas Jefferson.” Sheila Jackson Lee — and these are the smart ones you see. Yep, we’re the idiots. These are the brilliant among us. Here’s Sheila Jackson Lee during general speeches on the floor of the House yesterday talking about the fiscal cliff negotiations.

LEE: There is no way, Mr. Speaker, that we should raise the eligibility age for Medicare, that we should not think carefully about how we approach the reform of Medicaid and that we don’t tell the American people that Social Security is solvent. So I would say move quickly to pass the middle class tax cuts that would be for all of Americans, a hundred percent, up to $250,000, and let’s think about moving into 2013, how we make this economy better by looking carefully at how we reform entitlements that are not handouts, but they are earned.

RUSH: Yes. You see, there you have it, entitlements are earned. Did you know that? Entitlements are earned. Exactly. “Who are you to say they aren’t, Mr. Limbaugh? I earn my Social Security. I earn my Medicare. I earn my Medicaid. I earned all this. I earned it all.” Well, there’s a question that needs to be asked, ladies and gentlemen. If these entitlements are earned, how the hell can they be going bankrupt? Simple question. A question you’re not supposed to ask. I just asked it anyway.
