RUSH: Obama last night on The Late Show with Letterman. I still… With all this going on, the Middle East in flames and our ambassador’s dead, there’s Obama yukking it up. He’s talking about how much he weighs and he’s talking about all that. It’s really not presidential at all. It’s Celebrity of the United States-type stuff, not president. Anyway, Letterman said, “Our ambassador and three others were killed in an attack on the consulate in Benghazi. Is that an act of war, Mr. President? Are we at war now? What happens here?”

OBAMA: Here’s what happened. Eh, eh… Y-y-you had a video that was released by somebody who lives here, sort of a shadowy character who — who is an extremely offensive —

RUSH: Come on.

OBAMA: — video directed at — at Mohammed and Islam, making fun of the Prophet Mohammed. This caused great offence, uh, in much of the much of the Muslim world.

RUSH: Come on. Stop this.

OBAMA: Uh, but what also happened —

RUSH: Stop it! He’s asked about Benghazi. That’s Libya. Even the White House has now admitted this. Jay Carney has had to admit that this was a premeditated attack. It was planned days in advance. Obama doesn’t even know what his own White House is saying, or maybe he does and doesn’t care. But to blame this now on the “shadowy character”? Cue this bite back up to the top. “You had a video that was released by somebody who lives here, sort of a shadowy character … extremely offensive video.”

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Oh, folks. I meant to comment on this yesterday, and I just saw this guy’s picture up on Fox. The Muslim Brotherhood guy, President Morsi. From day one after his election to the presidency of Egypt, he said his number one objective is to have the US release the blind sheik, Omar Abdel Rahman. And apparently there was a report a couple days ago that a deal had been struck to release Rahman back to the Egyptians after the election. Now, there’s some denials that have gone back and forth.

But do you want bet that if Obama wins, he does that? I guarantee you he’ll do it. (interruption) You don’t think so? You don’t think he’d return Omar Abdel Rahman after he wins the election when he has more “flexibility”? Of course he will! And he’ll do it under the guise of furthering normalized relations with blah, blah, blah. It’ll be just like the Brits, the Brit liberals who gave up the Libyan guy. There’s no question, I don’t think, that Obama will make that deal.

Okay, here. Go back to audio sound bite 16. Play it again from the top.

OBAMA: Here’s what happened. Eh, eh… Y-y-you had a video that was released by somebody who lives here, sort of a shadowy character who — who is an extremely offensive video directed at — at Mohammed and Islam, making fun of the Prophet Mohammed. This caused great offence, uh, in much of the much of the Muslim world. Uh, but what also happened was extremists and terrorists used this as an excuse to attack a variety of our embassies.

RUSH: Now, he said that last night, folks, and his White House had admitted before he went and appeared on this show yesterday that they now know that the Benghazi attacks were premeditated. It was preplanned two or three days in advance. In other words, the video had nothing to do with it, but he’s continuing to lie about this. The video had nothing to do with it. So it’s clear Obama thinks a majority of the people watching Letterman are absolute dunces. He thinks that they are absolute idiots.

And, by the way, the Los Angeles Times has a story today or yesterday. I kid you not on this. There’s a story, and I’m pretty sure it was the LA Times, that some experts are saying: You know, maybe this ought not be free speech to criticize a religion. It was the LA Times. Okay. They say maybe it ought not be free speech. I’m telling you, folks, we are headed in a totalitarian direction. We are headed there. No, it wasn’t Obama. It wasn’t regime people. It was academics, expert academics, some think tank or some university somewhere.

They said (summarized), “Maybe criticizing religion really ought not be considered free speech. If this is going to be the result, perhaps we should have limits on criticizing Islam.” Now, here’s Letterman asking, “Is this an act of war?” Remember, when he went out and addressed the nation after the death of the ambassador? When he finished, the first question from a reporter was, “Mr. President, is this an act of war?” And he turned his back on the press corps and walked out.

He wouldn’t answer his friends in the press corps, but he goes on a late-night comedy show, and on a late-night comedy show with an absolutely vacant David Letterman… There’s so much air in that head that it’s impossible to measure. I’m telling you, he’s a genuine ignoramus. Funny guy, but a genuine ignoramus. And that’s where Obama goes to answer the question, a late-night comedy show. There, he’s ready to take on foreign policy with David Letterman and Paul Shaffer. (He’s still the music guy, right?)

Obviously he’s not gonna get any intellectual push-back from Letterman. (stifling laughter) He’s gonna get fawning anal poisoning, is what he’s gonna get from Letterman. That’s where he goes to answer the question: “Is this an act of war?” And he didn’t even answer it then. He just blamed it on this “shadowy character” who did the video. But then Letterman says, “Well, what do we do for heaven’s sake?” Can you believe that? “Well, what do we do for heaven’s sake?” And here’s what Obama said…

OBAMA: The broader issue here is there’s a lot of change this is a taking place in the Middle East. And we, as Americans, always stand on the side of democracy. We want people to have opportunity to — to determine their own fates and their own destinies, but the message we have to send, I think, to the Muslim world is that we expect you to work with us to keep our people safe.

RUSH: So it’s their job! It’s the job of Morsi. It’s the job of the Islamist-supremacist protesters. This is the big, tough Barack Obama who won’t answer the White House press corps question, “Are we at war?” He goes to Letterman, a genuine airhead, and gets the question. He doesn’t answer the question, and then courageously and bravely tell the Letterman audience that he’s told those Muslims: Look, pal, you have to protect us.

It is outsourcing. Not only is it outsourcing, it’s naive and silly. Can you imagine a Churchill or even a Roosevelt, a Reagan, or an Eisenhower doing this? Eisenhower calls up Hitler, “Okay, look, we’re hitting the beach there on D-Day. It’s up to your guys to take care of my people.” What is the world is this coming to? Yeah.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ron in Cincinnati. Thanks for your patience. Great to have you on the program, hello.

CALLER: It’s an honor to speak with you, sir.

RUSH: Thank you. Appreciate that.

CALLER: All right. Hey, a couple of real quick things ahead of my main point. If James Carter IV can spell Drudge, he’s gonna learn that his video is now debunked. Mother Jones is acknowledging missing some critical points of it.

RUSH: Two minutes, exactly right, two minutes.

CALLER: Second point, to call David Letterman a buffoon is an insult to all buffoons, sir.

RUSH: I know what you’re trying to say, yeah.

CALLER: Third point, and this is the big one, if you recall about a month ago, a little bit more than a month ago when Michele Bachmann was from her Intelligence Committee perch, she was raising concerns about State Department security clearances as it relates to Huma, Weiner’s wife —

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: And —

RUSH: No, Anthony Weiner’s wife, Huma.

CALLER: There you go.

RUSH: Yeah, Huma Weiner.

CALLER: So — (laughing) — so, anyway, she raised some very serious concerns. She was only able to get five members of the House to get behind her, and now we’re looking at what’s going on in the Middle East. The Middle East is on fire. I heard what she said back then, and my congressman, I’m in Ohio 1, which is southern Ohio, Hamilton County, we’re considered Ground Zero for this coming election, sir. My congressman sits on an important committee. He’s a subcommittee chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. He just got back from Egypt and a couple of other places over there, so I sent him a message and I asked him to get behind Michele Bachmann. Didn’t hear back from him. Come to today, and boy, she is — I mean, we look back and she’s prophetic. But here’s my biggest concern, Rush.

RUSH: Yep.

CALLER: We’re seeing the Middle East on fire.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: We’ve seen absolutely nothing here in the United States. We know they’re here. When are they — I mean, what potentially is up their sleeve, and my contention or my concern is, what about an Election Day surprise? Think if they hit — if they had terrorist activity on Election Day in southern Ohio —

RUSH: Well —

CALLER: — Florida —

RUSH: I wouldn’t worry about it because I think what the regime is gonna do is they’re gonna find every video out there and every offensive filmmaker and round ’em up and make sure that any future videos won’t be released. And if that happens, then there won’t be any uprisings, here or anywhere else in the Muslim world. Everybody knows it’s the video, and if the regime could get a handle on all of them that are out there, and they think they have, I feel pretty good about it, I don’t think this will be a problem.

CALLER: I’m hopeful, I’m optimistic, but we need to be vigilant, sir.

RUSH: Well, a lot of people say we have to. But we’ve been closing down universities. University of Texas Austin we had to evacuate. We had a couple of others. Several schools have had to clear their campus, and it hasn’t gotten a whole lot of press. But again, it was all because of the video. Now we got the video. We got that shadowy character. Big Sis, Janet Napolitano, has this under control. The sheriff’s department in LA, the FBI, the CIA, Interpol, all the people that used to go after Don King are now focusing on the video guy and his buddies.
