RUSH: It’s the little things.Polish Americans, Polish people are angry. They’re angry at Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm. He referred to a Nazi death camp as a Polish death camp. It was a Nazi death camp in German-occupied Poland. The Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski tweeted: “The White House will apologize for this outrageous error.” Sikorski said the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will make a statement. “It’s a pity that this important ceremony was upstaged by ignorance and incompetence.” That’s pretty tough stuff. I mean this is the Polish foreign minister referring to the Obama regime as ignorant and incompetent, and he’s right.

“The president had been trying to honor a famous Pole, awarding a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Jan Karski, a resistance fighter who sneaked behind enemy lines to bear witness to the atrocities being committed against Jews. President Obama referred to him being smuggled ‘into the Warsaw ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself.'” You can’t really blame Obama. He was distracted by a far more important honor, giving the Medal of Freedom to a proud Marxist and socialist. Sikorski, for his part, the Polish foreign minister, tweeted, “Few things annoy Poles more than being blamed for the crimes committed by the Nazi occupiers of their homeland. For many years, Polish media, diplomats and politicians have tried to persuade outsiders to stop using the phrase ?’Polish death camps?’ as a shorthand description of Auschwitz and other exemplars of Nazi brutality.”

“Well, somebody put it on his teleprompter,” as though that’s some sort of an excuse. Somebody in this administration doesn’t know. This is supposedly where you have the best fact checkers, the smartest. You never, if you’re a speechwriter, you never send somebody out, the president out, to make a glaring error like this.

But it happens. It happens way too often, all too frequently with this administration. And Obama doesn’t know himself. He’s just reading the words off the teleprompter. And this from a guy who worried in the 2008 campaign about our “standing in the world” and how America was so disrespected and so unloved. All because of the evils of that stupid cowboy, George W. Bush. But now? This really is a profound insult. But aside from that… Folks, some of you might think it’s a little thing, but it tells you so much.

It tells you so much about the glaring ignorance of people at the highest level of the executive branch in this country and their incompetence. Based on what the Polish foreign minister tweeted, it’s become a cliche. “Polish death camps” has become a cliche, and guess who it is that believes it? The White House! They didn’t know enough to get this right. They’re demanding an apology. I haven’t seen one. Has there been a White House apology? (interruption) What…? (interruption) Well, okay. “Obama misspoke.”

Of course he misspoke. No, I don’t suspect this was purposeful. There’s no reason Obama wants to insult Poland. I can’t think of a reason why. (He didn’t bow to ’em, either.) I don’t know why. I just think it’s incompetence. But the next little thing — and there’s nothing incompetent about it. Oh, yeah. The next little thing, that’s the one that’s telling, more than all the big speeches in the world. We know a lot the more about who Obama is based on these things.

For example: When he complained to Maureen Dowd about being sensitive over her joking about the size of his ears, that told us a lot about Barack Obama. It was a small thing. But somebody made some comments about Obama’s big ears, and he took Maureen Dowd aside after a speech (appearance, whatever it was) and sort of, in a figurative sense, wagged a finger at her and warned her that he’s very sensitive to comments about his big ears. She said, “We’re just trying to toughen you up.”

But it’s very telling that somebody running for the presidency would take the time to say, “Well, it really bothers me that you’d make fun of my ears.” What’s telling about it? What’s telling about it to me is here’s a guy that can’t laugh at himself, and that’s huge. That’s a big tell, folks. When somebody can’t laugh at themselves, it’s a sign of how seriously they take themselves. It’s a sign of how demanding they can be to be respected. Whether they’ve earned it or not, they’re demanding it.

It’s a sign of insulation. It’s a sign of being protected. It’s a sign of weakness. All kinds of things are wrapped up into this. I can’t think of another presidential candidate or president who’d actually take somebody in the media aside and say, “Would you stop making fun of my ears?” I mean, for crying out loud, presidential cartoonists routinely exaggerate the characteristics of every public figure. You go with the flow. You laugh about it. But the next thing — a little thing, seemingly so — I’ll explain when we get back.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: It’s the little things. I don’t mean to be redundant or repetitive. Yesterday in the White House, it was time for the president to present the Medal of Freedom to this year’s recipients. And one of the recipients… It’s the little things like this, folks. one of the recipients of the Medal of Freedom was a woman by the name of Huerta, Dolores Huerta. Do any of you know her? The mention of the name Dolores Huerta, does it mean anything, H-u-e-r-t-a. Let’s listen to President Obama presenting the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Dolores Huerta.

OBAMA: When Cesar Chavez sat Dolores Huerta down at his kitchen table and told her they should start a union, she thought he was joking. Dolores helped lead a worldwide grape boycott that forced growers to agree to some of the country’s first farm worker contracts, and ever since she has fought to give more people a seat at the table. “Don’t wait to be invited,” she says. “Step in there.” Uh, and on a personal note, uh, Dolores was, uh, very gracious, uh, when I told her I had stolen her slogan, uhhh, “Si, se puede.” “Yes, we can.” Uh, knowing her I’m pleased that she let me off easy. Uh, because Dolores does not play.

RUSH: Dolores Huerta has said among other things, “Republicans hate Latinos.” She has said, “We didn’t cross the border; the border crossed us.” Dolores Huerta is a Marxist, a cofounder with Cesar Chavez, as you heard, of the United Farm Workers, whom Obama honored yesterday, a Marxist, a professed Marxist and socialist, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Now, it’s a small thing. It’s a small thing, and hardly anybody is making any big deal of it. Obama gives the commemoration, she gets medal, and everybody goes on and does their business.

But it is quite telling.

The small stuff is never small.

“President Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday to Dolores Huerta, now 82 years old,” reported to be a labor activist, cofounder of the United Farm Workers union. However, “Dolores Huerta is an honorary chairman of the Democratic Socialists of America. The Democratic Socialists of America describes itself as,” quote, “the largest socialist organization in the United States and the principal US affiliate of The Socialist International.

“She has claimed, ‘Republicans hate Latinos.’ She speaks fondly and frequently of Hugo Chavez’s regime in Venezuela,” and despite her Marxist ties and her proud socialist ties — despite her radicalism — she “receives accolades from top Obama administration officials, including and understandably the Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis.” And she’s now the recipient of the nation’s highest civilian honor.

From DiscoverTheNetworks.org, a little bit about this woman. “The co-founder and first Vice President Emeritus of the United Farm Workers of America (UFW), Dolores C. Huerta has long worked to radicalize migrant farmworkers. She is a Board member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Feminist Majority, Latinas for Choice, the Center for Voting and Democracy, and Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting,” which is a left-wing media group, much along the lines of Media Matters.

“As a young adult, Huerta taught school (though she had never earned an education degree) until 1955, when, as a single mother of seven children (she now has eleven), she launched her career as a political activist. … Driven by a belief that true democracy can only be achieved through a redistribution of wealth, Huerta has been imprisoned more than twenty times as a result of her participation in various protests. In a 2002 interview, she stated, ‘I think organized labor is a necessary part of democracy. Organized labor is the only way to have fair distribution of wealth…'”

Recipient, Presidential Medal of Freedom Dolores “Huerta has actively opposed America’s post-9/11 War on Terrorism, which she believes is really a war on immigrants.” She’s out publicly rabble-rousing, claiming the War on Terrorism is a war on Hispanic immigrants. She accused “President Bush of possessing a ‘cowboy mentality,’ she told WarTimes.org in 2003 that the U.S. had trained both the Taliban and Saddam Hussein, whom it was now fighting to depose.'” She’s a truther! She believes that we were behind 9/11. She believes that we trained the Taliban and Saddam Hussein.

She said, “It?’s always been a part of U.S. foreign policy to first put a dictator in power and then to get rid of him.” “Responding to critics of illegal immigration, Huerta says: “We didn’t cross the [U.S.-Mexico] border; the border crossed us.” We were minding our own business and all of a sudden you moved the border on us and you took our country away from us. (That’s what she means.) Much like whoever it was we had yesterday claiming… Oh, it was Minister Farrakhan! Minister Farrakhan and Dolores Huerta are of the same mold. And she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom yesterday.

RUSH: Like everything else the Democrats do, the Presidential Medal of Freedom is now being rendered meaningless. It’s just a political award. That’s all it is. It’s been politicized. It’s another great tradition, institution down the tubes. I remember my last trip to the White House was on my birthday in 2009. This was before Obama was immaculated. I was President Bush’s guest. And after lunch, there were three recipients for the Presidential Medal of Freedom. They were Tony Blair, the former prime minister of Australia, and another world leader. They were genuine freedom fighters. Tony Blair was a member of the Labor Party, but an ally of Bush’s in the Iraq war.

It is the little things, folks, that are so informing, that are so telling. More than any large speech Obama would ever make, Dolores Huerta, who, I should also point out, in 2006, Dolores Huerta said, “Our theme will be: Republicans hate Latinos. Okay?” Republicans hate Latinos. I don’t think this is the kind of language, belief, what have you, that this honor was intended for. Lovers of freedom are not generally people that run around talking about hating entire groups of people. Now, Obama didn’t mention any of this when he gave her the medal. Toni Morrison was also a recipient of the Medal of Freedom yesterday. She’s an authoress. You remember Toni Morrison, Dawn, you don’t? Back in1998 Toni Morrison wrote that Bill Clinton was our first black president. Another winner of the Medal of Freedom yesterday.

It’s the little stuff. I’m sure many of are you are saying, “Why are you talking about this?” ‘Cause I think we still have a lot of work to do, folks, in telling people who Barack Obama is, first black president. And here is the first black president giving an award to someone who claimed a white guy was the first black president. The Medal of Freedom, to Toni Morrison. And Toni Morrison said, “Well, I mean Clinton, he can relate a lot to the boys in the hood,” or some such thing. He plays the saxophone. (interruption) No, no. She didn’t say anything about sex, but almost made it sound like Clinton came from a ghetto neighborhood and a ghetto upbringing and can relate and understand. We got a lot of work yet to do, telling people who Barack Obama is.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s what Toni Morrison said: “White skin notwithstanding, this is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald’s-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.”

That woman who said that, who wrote that, got the Presidential Medal of Freedom yesterday. And she’s not even right. She said blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetimes. Sorry, Obama came along and rendered her wrong. Not going there, Snerdley. You can say it all you want. I’m not going there. Snerdley wants me to zero in on the blacker than any actual black person, and he thinks the jury is still out on this. No, no, no. All I know is that all Bill Clinton had to do to qualify as the first black president is to display almost every trope of blackness. Here is a civil rights leader and this is what being black is to her. Single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald’s-and-junk-food-loving boy. And you throw in from Arkansas. And she wins the Presidential Medal of Freedom, along with Dolores Huerta.

Meanwhile, people like Alberto Gonzales are destroyed for being conservative. Clarence Thomas are destroyed for being conservative. Shelby Steele, they tried to destroy him, Thomas Sowell. You got legitimate candidates there for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, never stand a chance in America’s dominant liberal media culture today. That and the academy is the only place liberalism is dominant. In fact, Gallup has a poll out today. Over twice as many Americans self-identify as economic conservatives. Forty-eight percent of Americans say they are economic conservatives; 20% say they’re liberal on economics. Self-identified across the board. Are you liberal or conservative? Gallup poll: 40% say conservative; 20% say they’re liberal. A genuine minority. But because they own the media and the academy and you have to throw in Hollywood — books, movies, music, TV shows — you have to throw that in as part of the media. The appearance is quite the opposite.

RUSH: Here is George in Visalia, California, as we go to the phones. George, nice to have you here. Hi.

CALLER: Pleasure to speak with you, Rush. I’ve been listening to you since you started out in Sacramento.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: And I am absolutely livid. I wanted to retch when the comments came out about Dolores Huerta receiving the, quote, Medal of Freedom.

RUSH: Presidential Medal of Freedom.

CALLER: Presidential. Yeah.

RUSH: Why did you want to…? Why did you want to puke, George?

CALLER: Well, number one, the woman’s a racial activist. Back in the early seventies when the United Farm Workers started out their protest, it was Cesar Chavez and I believe they had a guy in there that was helping ’em out by the name of Ben Maddox. And there was a rally up in the Woodlake area, and it got so bad with the citrus growers up there and stuff from the farm workers that they would have to escort them from the Tulare County area down into Kern County which starts at Delano, California.

RUSH: Bakersfield, for those of you that don’t know the county.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Which is halfway between Bakersfield and Fresno.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: And that is where Cesar Chavez later had a compound called Forty Acres out west of Bakersfield. Dolores and the rest of these rabble-rousers were up on a trailer stirring up agitators, yelling stuff that was just really unbelievable.

RUSH: Yeah, but, George, she was just advocating and agitating for the freedom of the abused migrant workers who were being treated like trash. I mean, that’s the standard operating procedure on this. She was just defending the poor.

CALLER: That is the standard line. That’s their line. That wasn’t what was happening, but that’s their line. Actually, it was a very small movement by comparison. But they arrested a busload of these people and brought them down to Tulare County Jail. Reserves were called out to guard the jail because they were bringing in this busload of prisoners.

RUSH: Look, all this was… He’s a witness. He was there. He was on the other side of the line. That’s what he’s calling about. He watched this. He saw it all. That’s why he’s livid at this woman who’s a redistributionist, this woman who’s an anti-capitalist. This woman’s… Why do you think she gets the award? Why do you think Obama is persuaded to give it to her? Maybe he came up with the idea himself, I don’t know. But he certainly didn’t oppose it. This woman is exactly like Barack Obama.

That’s the point.

I checked my e-mail. Somebody said, “How do you think Obama missed this? How did this get past him?” It didn’t get past him! These are the kinds of people he thinks deserve recognition. Van Jones, all these people, they are Obama. This woman is Obama. She’s an earlier incarnation of Obama. She might have been one of his role models, for all we know. But she’s an anti-capitalist, she’s an avowed Marxist. (interruption) Snerdley, this is my point. “How does this play with the moderates?”

They don’t know about it! That’s what I mean. It’s a little thing. It didn’t get reported. Meanwhile, here is Donald Trump being set up by Blitzer and CNN for the express purpose of what? Using that interview last night to do nothing but besmirch Romney with Trump and this birther business. That becomes the media narrative all day. So you can talk about Romney and his associations — me, Trump — but don’t dare bring up Reverend Wright. Don’t dare talk about this Dolores Huerta stuff (unless you’re talking about it in the context of what a high honor this is).

The moderates and independents don’t know that she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom! It didn’t make big news. And to the extent that it did, you heard that sound bite we played.

It was a beautiful thing.

They don’t know.

That’s why I’m spending time on it.

It’s the little things that tell us so much.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, Bob Dylan’s real name is Zimmerman, but Bob Dylan is Jewish. He’s not “white Hispanic” like George Zimmerman. Bob Dylan also got the Presidential Medal of Freedom yesterday, and when Obama presented it to Dylan, Obama said, “My world opened up because he captured something about this country that was so vital,” and I’ll bet you it was Dylan’s song Everybody Must Get Stoned. Given what we’ve learned about Obama, this guy apparently was doing doobies all over the place. I mean, he was getting in cars and the smoke was so thick in there that you couldn’t see anybody.

I forget the word for it, but he would take the toke out of order, out of line. He’d take it from other people, take a hit, and then pass it back. Interrupter? That’s not the word. There’s a word for what he did. That whole marijuana community has a word for what he was doing. “Interceptor!” That’s right: Interceptor. He’d intercept the doobie, intercept the toke. He’d take a hit, then pass it along to somebody else, out of turn. Somehow we know a lot about this. So I’ll bet you it was Dylan’s song Everybody Must Get Stoned that had Obama so turned on yesterday.
