RUSH: Here’s Douglas in Birmingham, Alabama. Great to have you on the EIB Network, sir, had Open Line Friday. Hi.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Man, it’s a blessing and an honor to talk to you today. I really appreciate you taking my call.

RUSH: You bet, sir. Thank you.

CALLER: You don’t know it, man, but you’re a blessing to me and my family. I was a Democrat growing up down here in Alabama. And I guess, you know, in my mind, just being in the black community, you’re automatically a Democrat. And somebody told me you was a racist, and so I’m a big fact-checker and I check behind people. So I went looking to try to find the racism that you exhibit in your speech. And I found something totally different, which draws me to listen to you. You just kind of confirmed things that I already felt in my heart but did not know how to express. And I’m telling you, you know, every opportunity that I have to go back and download your videos, my wife and I we listen at ’em. And both of us are educators. She’s a teacher and I’m a teacher, and it’s kind of difficult. Because when you start speaking out against, you know, things that our president is doing — and people like our president — you know, you lose a lot of friends. Because, you know, if you’re black, you don’t speak out against anybody black. You know, it’s been kind of tough. But it’s been a —

RUSH: Oh, believe me, I hear you. I know exactly what you’re talking about.

CALLER: Right. But it’s a blessing because it’s a lot of relief off your chest, too. I’m like you. I couldn’t be a politician because I don’t compromise. I don’t change my feelings based on what other people think. If something is the truth and if it’s a fact, then you speak the truth and you speak the fact hoping that the information would change how people think. But you don’t change who you are based on popular opinion or how people perceive you. And I’m telling you, when I heard your monologues on personal responsibility and those kind of things? You know, it’s just a blessing. And, you know, and I’m telling you: My wife and I, we sit down together and listen to pieces of your videos together.

RUSH: What do you teach? What do you teach, Douglas?

CALLER: I teach at a private school and I teach religious subjects. My wife, she’s a public school teacher. So I teach the religious part of the private school.

RUSH: How long have you been doing it?

CALLER: About four years now. Yeah, about four years now. And I love it, you know? I really do.

RUSH: Do you think you’re doing…? Is this your calling? Do you think you’re doing what you were born to do? Do you love it?

CALLER: I have no doubt. I have no doubt, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. And many times, you know, I get caught up in a situation. Because, you know, the liberals have been made… When liberals want religious people to be quiet, what they do is take something religious and say, “It’s politics,” and they try to silence you. But I don’t do that. When it comes to moral things such as homosexuality, abortion — and anything — I speak about those things and I try to teach people that this is not politics. This is the moral fabric of our country that we’re dealing with here, and I’m not gonna be quiet on that, you know?

RUSH: Well, God bless you. What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

CALLER: The most rewarding aspect from my job is when my students look back at the things that I’ve said, and they can repeat it in their own words. That lets me know that they understand. I teach my students not to repeat things that I say. But I teach them to gather the information, understand the information, come to a conviction — and once you do that, you’re in a position to where you can help somebody else. But if you don’t have a conclusion, don’t try to teach anybody else.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: When they can do that, it’s just like a great relief — and a reward, too.

RUSH: Right, that’s nirvana. That’s when you reach them.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: That’s when you know you’ve reached ’em.

CALLER: That’s exactly right. You know, but you have been a blessing. And if I could (chuckles), I would let them listen to you a lot. But, you know, you’ve been a blessing to me and my family and we’re hooked now.

RUSH: Well, I’ll tell you something. The clearer the truth — and I’m sure you’ve learned this by now. The clearer, the plainer, the simpler the truth, the louder the outrage to it there will be.

CALLER: Exactly right.

RUSH: Now, you access my website. You watch videos and stuff right?

CALLER: Well, I do when I can. You know, we can’t always.

RUSH: I want to make it possible for you to do it whenever you want. I’ve got a bunch of laptop computers here that I have in my stash prize closet for just this circumstance —

CALLER: Oh!

RUSH: — and I want to send you one. Now, they’re Macs. I’ve got MacBook Airs, 11 and 13; and I’ve got MacBook Pros, 15 and 17. (We still have 17s back there, right?) So which one do you want?

CALLER: Man, Rush, let me tell you something: I wouldn’t dare tell you which one I want. Choosers can’t say it. How can I tell you? You giving me something, man, and I’m going to tell you?

RUSH: Okay, no problem. I’ll handle it. I’ll send you one. Are you gonna be home tomorrow?

CALLER: Yes, sir, I will.

RUSH: Okay. We’ll FedEx it today so that you have it tomorrow. Now, I need you to stay on hold so that Mr. Snerdley can get your shipping information so we can FedEx this to you tomorrow, okay?

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. And you’re a blessing. You keep up your good work.

RUSH: Well, you’re doing the Lord’s work out there, Douglas — and you love it. And, you know, I know what you mean about the rewarding aspect of reaching people. So that’s cool. That’s cool. Stick with it.

CALLER: Thank you. I appreciate it, man.

RUSH: You bet. Hang on. Don’t go away.
