RUSH: You gotta hear a couple sound bites from Zbigniew Brzezinski. Now, Zbig was Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser. He was the first guy that Jimmy Carter met with every morning, 7:30, in the Oval Orifice. Zbig is the father of Mika Brzezinski, who works with Scarborough on MSNBC. Zbig was on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Is he still on The NewsHour or did he quit? Did he retire? Doesn’t matter. It’s just The NewsHour. Gwen Ifill, in fact, was hosting. And, let’s see, nope, Jeffrey Brown was the correspondent talking to Zbig. Question: “How do you define this shift?” The balance of power in the world and the West and so forth. “Is it a slow rebalancing or is it a true tipping to power in Asia?” Are we losing ground to the ChiComs?

BRZEZINSKI: (heavily accented) It means the end of global supremacy by the West. The whole concept of global power, one power dominating the world eventually, is associated with the West. That, today, is no longer attainable because the West has declined in its influence. For the first time in all of human history, the “publics” of the world — the population of the world — is politically awakened, restless, stirring, resentful, in many parts increasingly motivated by an anti-Western narrative.

RUSH: Oh, yeah! And Zbig is not unhappy about this. You hear the happiness in his Bond villain voice? He’s very happy that the West no longer has this kind of “global dominance,” and he’s happy that the population of the world is “politically awakened” and “motivated by an anti-Western narrative.” Oh, he’s never been so excited. So the question: “Do you think the American people, the American political system is prepared to respond to this crisis you’re talking about? You’re talking about when you use words like ‘diminishing power’ or ‘a partner, rather than leader.’ These are sort of new terms that I wonder if people are prepared for or are able to respond to.” Zbig?

BRZEZINSKI: (heavily accented) We are a democracy. We can only have as good a foreign policy as the public’s understanding of world affairs, and the tragedy is that the public’s understanding of world affairs in America today is abysmal! It is ignorant. It is probably the least informed public about the world among developed countries in the world.

RUSH: There you have it, folks! You’re just a bunch of ignoramuses, a bunch of idiots, and you’re responsible for this rotten foreign policy. Now, I can understand him saying this during the Bush years. Why say this during the Obama years? You know, this is just amazing. (impression) “[T]he tragedy is that the public’s understanding of world affairs in America today is abysmal! It is ignorant. It is probably the least informed public about the world among developed countries in the world.” Right, and I guess these same stupid idiots elected Obama! These same stupid idiots elected the Democrats.
