RUSH: Now, this is hilarious, folks. Yesterday in Detroit during a Congressional Black Caucus jobs tour event, Representative Maxine Waters — who once approached me in Atlanta at the Super Bowl and claimed to be a capitalist with her husband Sidney standing right next to her. She actually sought me out, “Yeah, my husband, he sells Mercedes! I’m a capitalist; I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not a socialist.” I said, “Well, it’s nice to meet you,” and I went over and talked to Gene Upshaw. At any rate, in Detroit at a Congressional Black Caucus jobs tour, Maxine Waters talking to her audience. ..

WATERS: We don’t put pressure on the president.

CROWD: That’s right!

WATERS: Let me tell you why: We don’t put pressure on the president because y’all loooove the president.

CROWD: No! (grumbling, shouting)

WATERS: You loooove the president. You’re very proud. You’re very proud to have a black man…

CROWD: That’s right! Yes, we are.

WATERS: …first time in history of the United States of America.

CROWD: (shouting)

WATERS: If we go after the president too hard, you going after us. When you tell us it’s all right —

CROWD: It’s all right! (shouting)

WATERS: When you tell us it’s all right and you unleash us, and you tell us you’re ready for us to have this conversation, we’re ready to have the conversation!

RUSH: Did you follow that, folks? Maxine’s talking to the audience out there, and she talks about how wonderful it is to have first black president. (paraphrased) “Oh, yes, it is. And we’re very proud, very proud to have a black man. Yes, we are. First time in history of the United States. If we go after the president too hard, you’re going after us. When you tell us it’s all right,” and the crowd said, “It’s all right!” (laughing) The crowd said go for it! So Maxine’s asking permission to go after the president as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “When you tell us it’s all right,” and they didn’t budge, they didn’t delay: “It’s all right!” She says the black community is getting tired, wants to know why he’s not driving his bus through any black communities.

WATERS: We’re supportive of the president but we’re getting tired, y’all.

CROWD: (shouting)

WATERS: We’re getting tired, but our people are hurting.

WOMAN: Yes, they is.

WATERS: The unemployment is unconscionable.

WOMAN: That’s right!

WATERS: We don’t know what the strategy is. We don’t know why, on this trip that he’s in the United States now, that he’s not in any black communities. We don’t know that. But all I’m saying to you is: We’re politicians, we’re elected officials, we’re trying to do right thing and the best thing. When you let us know that it is time to let go, we’ll let go.

CROWD: (shouting)

RUSH: So she’s asking permission from the crowd to go after Obama, and the crowd granted permission. Maxine and the Congressional Black Caucus are wondering why Obama’s not driving the bus through black communities. (interruption) Well, it is sad, too. Pathetic. It’s sad. Let’s go back. I’m sure they’d love to see Obama drive the bus through Detroit.

KEN ROGULSKI, WJR DETROIT: Why are you here?

WOMAN #1: To get some money.

ROGULSKI: What kind of money?

WOMAN #1: Obama money.

ROGULSKI: Where’s it coming from?

WOMAN #1: Obama.

ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get it?

WOMAN #1: I don’t know, his stash. I don’t know. (laughter) I don’t know where he got it from, but he givin’ it to us, to help us.

WOMAN #2: And we love him.

WOMAN #1: We love him. That’s why we voted for him!

WOMEN: (chanting) Obama! Obama! Obama! (laughing)

RUSH: Now, that’s October 2009, and the previous Maxine Waters sound bites were yesterday. So these people in Detroit have been waiting two years, and nothing from “Obama’s stash.” Maxine Waters shows up, basically asks permission from the crowd finally go after Obama, and they don’t hesitate. They grant her and her Congressional Black Caucus buddies permission to go after Obama. She says she doesn’t know what the strategy is. The unemployment is “unconscionable.” She doesn’t know why Obama’s avoiding back people. (interruption) What? Yeah, well, it is. This is typical of the left, though. The whole point of this is Maxine is the one who wants to unleash, but she doesn’t have the guts to do it without an imprimatur. So she’s gotta go out, she’s gotta get the permission of constituents, and that will be, “Hey, you know, I — I — I really didn’t want to do this. I really didn’t want to have to attack President Obama, but my constituents are demanding that I represent their interests, and they want to know: ‘What the hell?'”

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So now we hear Maxine Waters with the Congressional Black Caucus, and they’re just itching. They know what’s happening in the black community. They can see it. Remember, now, to them this was supposed to be the big salve: Obama, first black president. This was gonna take care of everything. This was gonna be, essentially, reparations. This was gonna be where, okay, finally. And it hasn’t happened; it’s just gotten worse. There hasn’t been any improvement whatsoever, and there hasn’t been any expression of concern from the White House. As Maxine Waters said, “We don’t know why his bus isn’t going through black communities.” So the Congressional Black Caucus is sitting there and they’re chomping at the bit.

They want to launch but that’s treasonous to them. But if they had the imprimatur of their voters, their constituents — which is what Maxine Waters was speaking about and what she got in Detroit. Before the break here, I want to go back one more sound bite to February 10th, 2009, not even a month after Obama had been immaculated. Not even a month. Just to illustrate for you. You listen to this, you’re either gonna laugh… We laughed at first, back in 2009. We laughed, but now you need to scratch your head and say, “In America, this?” This took place in Fort Myers, Florida, President Obama held a town hall — again, less than a month after being immaculated — and this is during the Q&A with a member of the audience named Henrietta Hughes.

HUGHES: I have been praying for you, but —

OBAMA: I believe in prayer, so I appreciate that.

HUGHES: I have an urgent need, unemployment and homelessness, a very small vehicle for my family and place to live in. We it need urgent, and housing authority have two years waiting lists and we need something more than a vehicle and parks to go to. We need our own kitchen and our own bathroom. Please help.

OBAMA: Well, I — listen, I — what’s your name? What’s your name?

HUGHES: It’s Henrietta Hughes.

OBAMA: Okay, Ms. Hughes. Well, we — we — we’re going to do everything we can to help you, but there are a lot of people like you. We’re going to do everything we can, all right? But the, uh, I’ll have my staff talk to you after this, uh, after the — the town hall, all right?

RUSH: I don’t know what happened to Henrietta Hughes, but here she goes, and she shows up at a presidential town hall, basically asked for a car to live in and a new kitchen. Obama says, “Well, I’ll have the staff get with you after the town hall here.” Now, this is what? That’s for real. People were expecting this kind of thing. A lot of Obama voters were expecting this kind of thing and they haven’t gotten it. It’s gotten nowhere near. It has gotten worse for them. Don’t tell me, don’t tell me this guy cannot be defeated.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

We learned that Henrietta Hughes was a property owner. After that, I forget the details but that woman owned property. She was not nearly as destitute as she portrayed herself to be, but that’s not it. My point is I can’t recall a presidential town hall or press conference where a citizen asks the president for a kitchen! I can’t recall where that is what any citizen of this country thought the president’s role was: To provide him or her a kitchen, or a car to live in! If I were president, and I did a town hall and somebody asked this, I would be profoundly embarrassed; and I would dispatch a staff member afterwards and I would talk to that woman and I would give her a lesson.
In fact, I wouldn’t have waited! I would take the occasion of the town hall to give a lesson on what America is all about, and how “I don’t have time to get you a kitchen. There are far more important things a president has to do. That’s your job,” and I would ask her: “How many federal programs have the people you’ve been voting for all your life created to give you the kitchen and somehow you still don’t have it?”

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I remember this now. Henrietta Hughes was offered a home by Chene Thompson, wife of state Representative Nick Thompson, who heard her plea for help to Obama. So a couple of Republicans, hearing her plea at the town hall, gave her a house after the town hall. That’s how it happens. Didn’t you know?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yeah, I gotta make a clarification here. I don’t like having to do these but I still gotta do it. The people that bought Henrietta Hughes the house in Fort Myers are Republicans. They were not Democrats. Chene Thompson, wife of state representative Nick Thompson, gave her a house in LaBelle, Florida, which was the first home that Mrs. Thompson bought after law school. So it was Republicans that came to the rescue.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Hey, folks, you know, we started the program today with Maxine Waters essentially seeking permission from her constituents — even though she was in Detroit, but, from black voters — to go after Obama. So now all the nets have caught up with us. Fox is running stories, “Maxine Waters Attacking Obama.” I said, “Cookie, if there’s some new audio on this, give it to me. It would be good for…” She said, “No, no, no. It’s the stuff you played when we started the show.” Then I turned to Drudge. Drudge is on a roll. This, folks, you gotta see. Red font headline: “Black Caucus on Obama: We’re getting tired.” The picture is of Obama surrounded by all white school kids, and then the headline at the top is Maxine Waters saying: “He’s not in any black community.” So the Congressional Black Caucus, led by Maxine Waters, is on the prowl now for Obama.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You know what I think the dynamic going on with the bus tour here is? I think Maxine Waters knows it. See, one of the things that’s happening in the polling data, I mean when you’re Barack Obama, you’re down at 39%, you’re losing support. I’ve looked at it as deeply as you can go in Gallup, as much as they publish, he’s really losing white voters that he had wrapped around his finger in 2008. That’s who is abandoning, and many of them are independent. So this bus tour is really an effort to win back the white voter tour. The Congressional Black Caucus sees that and they haven’t seen this kind of effort made for them. That’s the dynamic that’s happening here.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

Drudge’s picture is — (laughing) — wait ’til Maxine Waters sees the Drudge Report. (laughing) I mean not a word is said. Black Caucus on Obama: “We’re Getting Tired,” and a picture of Obama surrounded by white school kids, with a sub story he’s not coming to the black community. He-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he.

And then there’s another picture where he’s eating vanilla ice cream. So we can call it the White Like Me Tour. So Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington, covering the White
Like Me Tour, and she didn’t realize her mic was hot. We might have to listen to this a couple times to hear it all.

MITCHELL: And now the president speaking on his bus tour, let’s listen.

OBAMA: I travel through down state Illinois, when I travel through Iowa —

MITCHELL: Did I miss any substance?

OBAMA: — the Midwest, I am absolutely confident about this country.

RUSH: Okay, her mic’s hot, she didn’t know it, were you able to understand what she said? Well, let’s listen to it again. She’s talking to her producer.

MITCHELL: And now the president speaking on his bus tour, let’s listen.

OBAMA: I travel through down state Illinois, when I travel through Iowa —

MITCHELL: Did I miss any substance?

OBAMA: — the Midwest, I am absolutely confident about this country.

RUSH: She’s asking her producer, “Did I miss any substance?” I thought it was all substance with Obama. Did I miss any substance? Andrea, not a chance. It’s Obama we’re talking about here. There is no substance. You’re covering cliches. It’s the White Like Me Tour. I guarantee you.
