RUSH: Vinny in Queens, time to reprise the phone call where he claims now that he’s misunderstood. Welcome back, Vinny. How are you, sir?

CALLER: Ha-ha. Good to be back, Rush.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: Listen, what I was trying to say that day was simply this. I’ve always felt, you know, we 40% conservative, 40% liberal in this country, and we’re always fighting for that 20%. You’ve said that often enough, and I’ve always agreed with you.

RUSH: Well, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I don’t believe that, and I have made a point of saying that. That’s an argument the Republican consultants have put forth because they claim, in selling their services to candidates, that they’re the experts in getting the 20% to go for their candidate.

CALLER: Wait a minute, I’m not saying that. I’m saying there is a large swath out there that isn’t what I would classify as conservative. Now, I’m conservative. I love Sarah Palin. I told you I voted for Sarah Palin, not John McCain, like most of us did. What I was simply trying to say is another phenomena that’s part of the Obama presidency is all the new interest that he’s created in politics, okay? And I’m talking about new voters, people that never gave a fig about politics before, okay? And I was wondering aloud if we would have to be spending a lot of time rehabilitating the malicious and maligning that the media have done against Sarah. Now, I have a horse in this race, and like Sarah, he hasn’t entered yet, if he enters at all, and I said that to you, I said Rick Perry. But, you know what? If Sarah enters the race, that’s who’s getting my vote because she is the most conservative probably to me.

RUSH: This is not what you said, Vinny.

CALLER: Yes, it is.

RUSH: You said you didn’t want her to get the nomination ’cause the media has beat her up and she’s not salvageable.

CALLER: No. Nope. You review that tape and you will not hear me say that. I swear on everything I own, I never said that. I was simply wondering aloud if we were gonna have to spend a lot of time rehabilitating, and I lastly stated, I would like to see Rick Perry get into the race because that’s the guy I’ve been looking at, and Snerdley can tell you this because I’ve talked to Bo enough, okay?

RUSH: All right. I’m sadly out of busy broadcast moments here. I’m glad you have a chance to clarify it. That’s Vinny in Queens.
