RUSH: Pat in Stevenson, Washington, as we go back to the phones. Great to have you on the program. Hi.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos from the Columbia River Gorge.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: If you ever get a chance to get up here, it’s well worth your trip. Got two points I’d like to bring up real quick. Longtime listener, first-time caller, so I’m a little nervous. I bought your brother’s book. I’ve got to tell all your listeners: I brought it home, sat down, started reading it. Read ’til midnight, went to bed, did not go to sleep. Woke up at five in the morning and read ’til I was finished. In all of my life — I’ve read Sean, I’ve read Levin, I’ve read ’em all — nothing has ever touched me like your brother’s book.
RUSH: What’s the title of that book, Pat?
CALLER: Crimes Against Liberty.
RUSH: That’s right. Who’s the author again, Pat?
CALLER: David Limbaugh.
RUSH: David Limbaugh, that’s right. Crimes Against Liberty, by David Limbaugh. You can’t stop reading it, and the extent to which this administration and these people lie is documented. If every American had this book and read it it would be the end of Obama. It would be the end of the Democrat Party, if every American read this book. Right, Pat?
CALLER: I just couldn’t put it down. I mean, like I say, I couldn’t sleep. I had to get back up and finish it. Like you say, it is so well documented. You know, he did his homework, and —
RUSH: Well, he listens to me a lot, that’s true.
CALLER: (laughing)
RUSH: (laughing)
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: No, if every American read this book that would be the end of Obama, would be the end of Obamaphobia. It would be the end of the Democrat Party. It documents lie after lie after lie, from ‘Fibbs’ to Obama and all these people on. It’s scary is what it is.
CALLER: Yeah. Yeah. And the second point I’d like to bring up, I’ve got to tell you this. I am in your corner 110%. Sixty percent of all government workers are drones. They do not need to be there. Your brother points out in the book that Obama is trying to bring in 16,000 new IRS agents.
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: To keep track of our taxes or something.
RUSH: That’s health care.
CALLER: I’ve got to correct you on one thing.
RUSH: Uh-oh.
CALLER: I’m retired from the US government. There is a branch of the US government that makes money. And I am here in the Columbia River Gorge, I’m retired from Bonneville Dam and the year I retired we made $151 million for the government generating electricity at Bonneville Dam. That’s the only — as far as I know — that is the only branch of the government — and we had to fight for every penny we wanted for maintenance and stuff like that.
RUSH: I missed it, what is it that made $151 million?
CALLER: Hydroelectricity generated by the government.
RUSH: Where?
CALLER: At Bonneville Dam here in the Columbia River Gorge.
RUSH: Really? Who did they sell the electricity to?
CALLER: Everybody. The electricity you use in your house, okay, we sell it to the Bonneville power administration, and they administer it to everybody that uses electricity. We are the ones that generate electricity, which is used by everybody.
RUSH: It’s like the TVA, Tennessee Valley Authority, did all this stuff, got started under FDR.
CALLER: But it’s for the federal government.
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: Army Corps of Engineers.
RUSH: Yeah, Tennessee Valley Authority is federal government, too.
CALLER: They’re the only ones I know that actually make a profit for the government.
RUSH: Well, yeah, but nobody in the power generating business loses money so that’s no big deal.
CALLER: Yeah, but it is a government entity, like I say.
RUSH: All right. I’ll grant you that. So you’re saying somebody other than the people that build the Volt are generating a profit for the government?
CALLER: (laughing) Yeah, right.
RUSH: Yeah. (laughing)
CALLER: (laughing) Yeah, and they’ve gotta our electricity to charge the dumb thing up in the first place. And you know what really bugs me is the bunny huggers, you know, the environmentalist wackos don’t consider hydroelectricity a renewable resource. Our river just keeps flowing and flowing and flowing but they will not consider it a renewable resource?
RUSH: Why not?
CALLER: That’s what I’ve been trying to figure for years.
RUSH: Hydroelectric they don’t consider a renewable resource?
CALLER: No. Not from hydroelectricity. They don’t consider that a renewable resource.
RUSH: What is? What do they consider renewable?
CALLER: Wind and solar and stuff like that, but they don’t consider hydro.
RUSH: Oh, okay, the stuff that doesn’t yet produce any electricity they consider renewable.
CALLER: Yeah, you know.
RUSH: The point is, look, I’m not trying to burst your balloon or bubble here. What I said was that the government doesn’t make anything. What they are doing here is generating electricity, but they’re not making anything. It’s a fine point. As I say, I’m not trying to burst your bubble. By the way, David’s book, Crimes Against Liberty is still number one nonfiction at Amazon, and it’s gonna open number one on the New York Times list on September 4th, the next one that’s published, maybe it was yesterday.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: According to the environmentalist wackos, hydropower is renewable, but it’s not green because it alters the flow of rivers and thus affects wildlife. So basically you can say the environmentalists, they don’t like hydroelectric power because they don’t like dams. And they don’t like dams because dams destroy the view. I mean it’s no more complicated than that.
