RUSH: John in Ashland, Virginia. It’s great to have you on the EIB Network, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush, how you doing?

RUSH: Good.

CALLER: It’s very pitiful that we have to start running for office when we haven’t even done the job we were elected to do two years ago. I thought that the president may have pulled it off and it looks like he didn’t do it. I didn’t vote for him but I wished him well, and I had hoped that he would have done some things that he said he was going to do.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Just 50,000 jobs? That happens every spring. You go to the fast food places and they have new faces. You go to amusement parks, you go to the beaches and you see people from Europe over here that can’t speak English very well but they’ve got jobs, and this happens every year. But these are not jobs that people can support a family on and make a career of. This is just like every spring you see the robins come to the north and every year we see young kids, my kids, getting jobs. But the real thing that I want to say is that, you know, I hope that I live to see the greatest president of this country to be elected because the president that can turn this country around to be elected in the next two to six years, if he can turn this around can probably go down as the greatest president of the country.

RUSH: Well, that’s very nice of you to say, but I’m not running.

CALLER: Well, that won’t be you, then, but somebody’s gotta turn it around, Rush. Somebody’s gotta turn it around and we need somebody to step up and say, “I want to be your president for four years and four years only and you’re not gonna see me on the campaign trail, you’re not gonna see me raising funds for anyone. You’re gonna see me very seldomly smiling from ear to ear and waving to you because I’m gonna be too busy doing the job of the people. And when I get through, you won’t be electing me because all of you are gonna be unhappy with me because all of you are gonna have to pay to get us out of this mess.”

RUSH: Well, if that happens, that person would be reelected by acclimation, if that were actually possible to happen. But I get your point. It comes up now and then, that people would support somebody who just say, “Look, I’m here for four years. I’m doing none of the usual stuff. I’m not doing fundraisers. I’m gonna fix the problems and then I’m outta here, I’m leaving.” People would respond to that, there’s no question. But the Democrats and the media would destroy the guy. Do you have anybody in mind outside of me? Who is your fantasy candidate? Is there anybody you think that could pull off what you just suggested?

CALLER: I don’t know who it is, but there’s someone out there that can do it. They just need to step up and say, “I’m not gonna run for reelection. I’m going to get the job done, and when I get through doing this job, none of you are gonna like me, I’ll probably have to go into exile.”

RUSH: Okay, so it’s none of the names we know then?

CALLER: No one has impressed me but, you know, the Israelis waited for Jesus to come for many, many years so maybe that’s who we need.

RUSH: (laughing) Yeah, you could look at it that way. (laughing) All right, well, look, I’m glad you called. We’ve tried messiahs. We got one now and that’s not working out well for us. We’ve done the messiah route, and they’re just not cracked up to be all that they are. Anyway, John, I appreciate it. Thanks very much.
