RUSH: Here’s Ann in Charleston, South Carolina, nice to have you on the EIB Network.

CALLER: Hi, Rush? Hello?

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Hi, listen, I voted early this morning, and I experienced some technical problems with the electronic machine. And I just want to tell people that if your machines does not give you a written receipt of any kind make sure you stay around until you get some sort of confirmation that your vote got cast. I almost walked out of there without actually casting a vote.

RUSH: What happened? I mean how do you realize what was about to happen?

CALLER: Well, I decided to just hang back because I was expecting some sort of thank-you for casting a vote or something to pop up and instead —

RUSH: You mean on the screen?

CALLER: Right. Right. And instead I got an error message and just for a split second I saw the word ‘problem’ pop up, and so —

RUSH: Did you by any chance cast your vote for Republicans?

CALLER: Yes, I did.

RUSH: Hmm.

CALLER: Well, I don’t really think that was the problem.

RUSH: Oh, you don’t, okay.

CALLER: No, because they were very helpful and I was able to cast it again.

RUSH: Well, that’s good.

CALLER: Right. But I just to want make sure people know, if you don’t get any kind of confirmation up on the screen or you don’t get any kind of receipt, that you should ask somebody about it, don’t just walk away.

RUSH: All right. I’ll keep that in mind. I have to go vote later today.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: And I’ll keep a sharp eye on my machine.

CALLER: Right. Right. Thanks, Rush.

RUSH: All right, thanks very much, Ann. I appreciate that. (interruption) What was that? You’ve already voted? A magic marker? Well, yeah, but it’s still electronic, isn’t it? The electronic machines in Florida have been killed? So you complete a line, you complete the arrow. That’s right. Yeah. So this is to prevent people from coming out of the polling place saying, ‘I think I voted for Pat Buchanan when I meant to vote for Algore.’
